Jack, it appears you have a large set of trials and are in need of counseling. I do not envy your burden, and I understand your valid frustrations. Regarding your Bishop ... no one should ever deny counseling to one who *needs* counseling. Appeal. I imagine you know the process ... speak with the Stake President. If still no help, appeal again, etc.. I also understand your ostracized situation in your ward. This has happened to me in a couple wards in my lifetime so far. Single 30+s do tend to be looked down upon among family wards, and we know this ought not to be. The next steps in your life are to seek counseling and seek friends. Making friends helps both your social situation and job opportunities. It's not what you know, it's who you know. As has been stated, once a decent job is secured, then is the time to date. For now ... friends. Your friends don't have to be LDS. Don't worry about marriage, first thing's first ... to stabilize your situation emotionally, socially, and financially. Pray to the Lord that He will help you find good friends. I have faith He will help you, but the Lord requires us to do our part. :)

Yes. There is still speculation on when, but many scholars believe the rapture will occur after the 42 months (1,260 days) of tribulation, just prior to when the entire earth is cleansed by fire. Also, we teach that there will be MANY that are not-LDS alive on the earth when the Savior comes. This entails that there will be many non-LDS among Zion and involved in the rapture.

Thank you prisonchaplain - this is basically what I'm trying to get at ... regarding watching for the Lord's coming.My above post was on the topic of: those not watching for His coming will end up caught with their pants down and find themselves among the 5 virgins without oil in their lamps (which also tend to persecute those watching ... like the Nephites in the Book of Mormon). With this in mind, one can then understand my last post :) One thing we do know from the Bible - it will happen 'as a thief in the night' and only those watching for His coming will be prepared for it. I'm fairly certain these are they who comprise Zion in those days.

Once you're done searching, ponder the contents of the book. Once you're done pondering, pray about the book. Until then, you will never come to know Christ, but only know about Christ. Indeed! These include 2 Nephi 5:5-6 ... Omni 1:12-13, 5-6 ... Alma the Elder ... Lehi ... the brother of Jared ... and then there are the many prophecies of Zion as well.The Book of Mormon teaches by history-example as well as in plain prophecy. :)

We know from six Biblical references that the period of calamities (sometimes popularly called Armageddon) will last 42 months, 1260 days, or 3.5 years. We also know that during this time the adversary will reign with blood and horror on the earth, two witnesses will take the Gospel to Jerusalem, and Zion in her many branches and stakes will be spared, much like the children of Israel, like Lehi, Alma the Elder, the brother of Jared, 2 Nephi 5:5-6, and Omni 1:12-13.Those who do not look for the Lord's coming, no matter how righteous, will be as the 5 foolish virgins unprepared that are caught 'as a theif in the night' ... starting with a world-wide economic collapse. As far as when this 3.5 year period starts, it will be in about 10 years. No more. Until then, those who disobey Christ's commandment and refuse to study the words of Isaiah will be left in their ignorance and end up fulfilling exactly what Isaiah pronounced woes against, and subsequently fulfill all Isaiah's prophecies concerning Ephraim and the Scattering and Gathering of Israel.

You're one of my favorite members on this site. I don't understand why some would be so prejudice based upon age. I'll miss ya, but keep in mind there's always the Nauvoo forums that seem to have less trolls crawling around.

There is a difference between wrath and contention ... I just can't seem to put it into proper words, but 'contention' has something to do with 'contend' ... like contending for the sake of just being rebellious and competitive ... like stirring up a fight for the sake of fighting. Wrath seems to have more to do with vengeance and justice.

Now obviously no man knoweth the day nor the hour of Christ's Second Coming, yet we see the signs and some ancient prophecies fulfilled, and one has to wonder how much longer we have until this time. So when do you think all these things will occur? Also the scriptures tell us of calamities and destructions beforehand ... how long do you think these things will be? :)

Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God. There will be those who hiss and spurn, but the time will come when they shall meet him as well as Nephi, Jacob, and Moroni. There they will acknowlege their error and suffer the pains of sore repentance for kicking against the pricks.

"By their fruits ye shall know them." or more specifically, 2 Nephi 26:31 "But the laborer in Zion shall labor for Zion; for if they labor for money they shall perish."

All these items come straight from the Book of Mormon. Learning the Gospel and teaching those who seek for truth are important missions of this website. Christ Himself gave unto us a commandment to study the words of Isaiah in 3 Nephi 23:1
