  1. How?

Lots of people say that (usually married people), or quote feel-good quotations about it....but nobody can explain it.

As someone who will likely never have the opportunity to get married as long as I continue to hold out for a Temple marriage (and who doesn't see the odds the fleeting hearts of lds women will miraculously change in the next life allowing opportunities to guys that don't exist in this life as very strong), It's always bothered me this notion that I could be denied in the next life because of a choice someone else makes. It doesn't jive at all with the rest of the Doctrine (that God will judge man according to their works and the desires of their hearts.....).

Just "desiring it" is not enough.....at least not according to DC 132

Sorry Thrushcross for the semi-threadjack, but reading this thread triggered the only dark feelings i have for in an otherwise-lightfilled Gospel...

There are some things we can desire all we want in this life and never get. This life is but a small moment. Jacob "wept many nights in his pillow" because of this world. Its an awful world. But "all these things will give thee experience", there are some who will not ge tmarried no matter how hard they try even if they have the righteous desires.

I don't want to sound pessismistic but this life is not about our personal pleasures, god cares more about our salvation than our comfort. Were not here for us, were here to learn to be like him. There are certain lessons each of us needed to learn before we came here. Loneliness, abandonment, more faith, tested that we will keep our faith....

There is a quote "god will not give you greater trials than you can have".. This is not saying we won't receive thee worst things of life, its saying, WHATEVER is given to us, WE can keep the FAITH during that obstacle. As the endowment says Eve, "it is better that we pass THROUGH sorrow that we may know the good from the evil".

Is it a gospel of glad tiding, certainly not in this life... Its "a hope for a better world" as explained I think its in mormon. Its to teach us to point to Christ and NO ONE else. Pain, suffering, and all the other horrible things of life... as JS said "death tastes as sweet as honey". But he endured the things he did because he KNEW what was on the other side of the veil, he had seen it, he was willing to subject his own pride, will, and agency to the will of the Father.

Pray to the father, he will upbraideth not. If you lack wisdom, ASK and you shall receive wisdom. Seek what the Lord is trying to teach you. What the answer to your question is.

How can we be married? The same way we are here. People will not look upon "the appearance" beyond the grave but whats in the heart. We don't keep this telestial body. God is omnipotent, all knowing, he knows who is right for you even if part of life is not to meet them in this lifetime.

  2. Thank you everyone for the replies. Really appreciate it :)

Suppose, an LDS person does not have the opportunity to get sealed in the temple or engage in the endowment ceremony in this life - will they get the opportunity to perform these ordinances to reach the highest leve of the celestial kindom during the Millenium?

The book of mormon is nephi's endowment, and many other prophets endowments. We can learn of them and know what the path is just by reading the book of mormon. You can live a life and covenants even before getting your endowment in the temple. Just by learning and obeying the covenants in the book of mormon (also found in the bible but harder to put the bigger picture together).

Here is an answer to Joseph smith about what happened to his brother Alvin who died before the truth was restored.

    D&C 137

1 The heavens were opened upon us, and I beheld the celestial kingdom of God, and the glory thereof, whether in the body or out I cannot tell.

    2 I saw the transcendent beauty of the gate through which the heirs of that kingdom will enter, which was like unto circling flames of fire;

3 Also the blazing throne of God, whereon was seated the Father and the Son.

4 I saw the beautiful streets of that kingdom, which had the appearance of being paved with gold.

    5 I saw Father Adam and Abraham; and my father and my mother; my brother Alvin, that has long since slept;

6 And marveled how it was that he had obtained an inheritance in that kingdom, seeing that he had departed this life before the Lord had set his hand to gather Israel the second time, and had not been baptized for the remission of sins.

    7 Thus came the voice of the Lord unto me, saying: All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God;

    8 Also all that shall die henceforth without a knowledge of it, who would have received it with all their hearts, shall be heirs of that kingdom;

9 For I, the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts.

10 And I also beheld that all children who die before they arrive at the years of accountability are saved in the celestial kingdom of heaven.

The requirements are teh same for all. Ability to give all to god, sacrifice of all things.

  3. "wo unto him that saith zion prospereth" 2 nephi 28

    What is the event?

    Quite a few,

Jacob 6:1 And now, behold, my brethren, as I said unto you that I would prophesy, behold, this is my prophecy—that the things which this prophet Zenos spake, concerning the house of Israel, in the which he likened them unto a tame olive tree, must surely come to pass.

2 And the day that he shall set his hand again the second time to recover his people, is the day, yea, even the last time, that the servants of the Lord shall go forth in his power, to nourish and prune his vineyard; and after that the end soon cometh.

Zion is a new dispensation, so look for the opening of a new dispensation.

But more personally, when have you become Zion? When we converse with the lord through the veil, or enter into his presence and receive him. These are they that are pure in heart (zion are the pure in heart). If you don't do this, it won't matter when zion comes.

Two ways zion will be redeemed, before destruction like enoch, or after destruction like 3 nephi, one is compelled to be humble the other is not. Than those who were compelled in 3 nephi, those who survived were those who "were more righteous" among them.

We have NOT established zion. Not even close. We rejected it, the saints did. Another event? A new star. When did the israelites get led out of bondage as mentioned through out isaiah that we will be led out of bondage and the story of the years of famine (7 years)? After the years of scarcity, as hinckley said, we are in the days of scarcity. Were more wicked (society) than sodom.

Revelations 3:20 Behold, I [christ] stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Hebrews 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

  4. The problem with the stories here is that hte people lacked the knowledge to do this correctly.

    "my body was taken over"

The problem is they don't know how to A) protect against evill B ) do it according to the way God wants us to C) Get persmission from heavenly father to do it... Discerning of spirits comes in here. One of the greatest gifts we should seek after.

If done correctly there will be no fear in such a practice and can be used for the benefit of man.

    lack of knowledge generates fear.

  5. We are intellgence (singular)

    Abraham saw the intelligences (plural)

There are not multiple intelligences inside of us. My belief. I know some early leaders taught differently like the atomism theory by parley. I think its discussed in The seer not sure though. We are without beginning or end... So does that mean we always existed? And ever will? Than why has God progressed to be like god before us? Did god organize him first? Or did our agency restrict it?

Thinking too much? Na! but yea, this stuff makes my head hurt sometimes but its fun. Finite? I doubt it. There is a theory that God organizes spirits through thoughts. Of both male and female. The two thoughts of the two makes an independent, for it only one through their thoughts organized an intelligence it would not be independent based off that one mindset. Yet with two there enters an Independence (opposition). Which allows it to be endowed with agency. If this is the case there is definitely not a finite amount of spirits.

  6. Eliajah was teh forerunner

    Elias was the restorer

Helaman 10:7: He had the power not keys. Having power does not equate to having keys and vice versa. But they can go hand in hand.

Also elijah could not be the last one to have the fullness, keys probably but not the fullness of priesthood. For example Isaiah had the fullnes.

You can tell when one has the MP. Anyone who in the scriptures communes with god and can speak with him. This is the fruits of they with the MP and where the power of godliness is manifest.

Enoch had it like mentioned along with ALL those with him.

Alma 13 explains how anyone can get that in the old testament. Also the book of hebrews. While the majority of the people under moses may have been cursed for rejecting the fullness of the gospel there were some who could receive it if they lived up to the requirements the same way Moses received his.

  7. God will forgive you imediately. Christ told the adulter

    John 8:11

    King James Version (KJV)

2 And early in the morning he[christ] came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

What was the requirement? Go and sin no more. You feel guilt which is different than being forgiven through the justice of christ. You desire not to do it, you are willing to do it no more, than mercy satisfies justice and you ARE forgiven. have your prayed to heavenly father saying you won't do it again?

Now the guilt is seperate from this forgiveness which has to do with sanctification. This is achieved through Christ.

Enos had a great experience here, along with zeezrom who was willing to give up all his sins which allowed him to have his guilt swept away. here is what enos said.

Enos 1: 3 Behold, I went to hunt beasts in the forests; and the words which I had often heard my father speak concerning eternal life, and the ajoy of the saints, bsunk deep into my heart.

4 And my soul ahungered; and I bkneeled down before my Maker, and I ccried unto him in mighty dprayer and supplication for mine own soul; and all the day long did I cry unto him; yea, and when the night came I did still raise my voice high that it reached the heavens.

5 And there came a avoice unto me, saying: Enos, thy sins are bforgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed.

6 And I, Enos, knew that God acould not lie; wherefore, my guilt was swept away.

7 And I said: Lord, how is it done?

8 And he said unto me: aBecause of thy bfaith in Christ, whom thou hast never before heard nor seen. And many years pass away before he shall manifest himself in the flesh; wherefore, go to, thy faith hath made thee cwhole.

Sometimes making wrongs right is the way to get guilt swept away. Othertimes its just yourself unable to forgive yourself that keeps this guilt when in reality heavenly father has already forgiven you! Accept his mercy, sometimes that is the hardest thing to do.

Honestly, while your bishop can help, this is not something you need to talk to your bishop about. But if you are aching and need relief you can do that. Why not open up your feelings to heavenly father? He will show you how much he still loves you.

  8. Good morning ElectofGod. I hope are having a good weekend! :)

To be clear I have no issue with the doctrine of trusting in the Spirit.

In the temple we are exhorted to give strict heed to counsel of the apostles. Why would we be given this charge unless God expects us to adhere to it?

I don't dispute any specific part of your reply, but it does make the account in 1 Nephi and other such accounts seem spurious. Meaning, your response doesn't satisfy because it leaves unanswered the question: "Why did God want us to know that Nephi went to his father for guidance, even though his father was murmuring and even though Nephi was a prophet, seer, and revelator?" I don't think this account in the Book of Mormon is simply an "accidental" bit of information so that we can conclude that somedays God wants us to use intermediators and other days He doesn't. With such a conclusion, how do I liken that account to my life?

Do you not think that Lehi being the patriach of the family had anything to do with Nephi's decision to go to Lehi for guidance?

Clearly God has given us leaders. There are heads in the Church. Do you see how what you are saying has the potential of allowing a person to essentially come up with their own doctrine and have no accountability? It makes the President of the Church essentially ineffective. It makes all heads of the Church at every level ineffective and spurious. For example, suppose you are given direct instructions from your bishop to use the Ensign for HT because he feels inspired to give that counsel. Are you saying that you would deliberately and conscienciously defy your bishop on account of you receiving your own revelation? Do you not see that by doing so you have elevated yourself above the head and seek to usurp authority, even if you are doing so with the best of intentions? It seems to me that Nephi provided the correct attitude we should display towards our leaders. We should respect their position as heads and trust in their guidance and give strict heed to their counsels, even when they are living imperfect lives. Nephi showed deference to his head on earth. God blesses us for obeying our leaders, even when we disagree and feel that another way is better. The Spirit tells me to follow the apostles. When I follow the apostles, I am following the Spirit. You try to draw a distinction between following the apostles and following the Spirit. When God speaks we obey, whether He speaks by His own mouth or by the mouth of His servants, it is the same.

God makes us use intermediaries to keep us grounded and humble. He established heads in the Church to maintain order and to provide a clear channel of doctrine. We should be doing everything we can to obey our leaders and the exceptions to those ought to be rare. The most significant issue that I have with your claim is that essentially your post is saying that following an apostle's counsel is not following God or the Spirit. Your position, which seems to incorrectly pit following the apostles versus following the Spirit, is a false dichotomy. Your position assumes that the apostle's knowledge or direction is not inspired. The reality is that when God speaks through His apostles it is the same as God speaking through His spirit.

EDIT: Although I agree with you that being dependent on man is as bad as pride (because they are really the same thing too), I want to add that Nephi's example also showed that honoring your priesthood leaders does not mean you are "dependent". Btw, I am assuming by "dependent" you mean that one doesn't seek for personal revelation but relies on the revelation of others solely. This is another issue that I have with your position because it implies that those who seek to obey the guidance of the apostles are spiritually inferior and "dependent". It may be true in some cases, but not in all cases.

    Regards,

    Finrock

Yes, that defintion of depedent. I think james123 spoke my mind again. There is one restriction the lord gives when he says listen to his servants in D&C. That is as they walk in righteousness before me, but also as they are speaking by the power of the holy ghost. If it is by the holy ghost than it is His words, if not it is Mans words...

    So when you say,

For example, suppose you are given direct instructions from your bishop to use the Ensign for HT because he feels inspired to give that counsel. Are you saying that you would deliberately and conscienciously defy your bishop on account of you receiving your own revelation?

Well lets say this was the Lords will. I would not deliberately defy it? No. I would take the council seriously. I would pray on that message and ask heavenly father if this message was for me. If this is what I should do. If I got a confirmation this was true for myself, I would obey it. If I got a confirmation that it was not form the holy ghost OR it was meant for the ward but that I should continue doing whatever I have already felt prompted to do, than I would.

I know many times council is inspired but the lord wants me to go another route. Sometimes the Lord wants me to obey that council. Sometimes Its not inspired and of man and no matter how "demanding" they are in that council I won't obey.

I agree with your assessment and everything. Someone can always come up with a "perceived" problem with a way of doing things. I can for what others do and they can for what I do. I am so imperfect this may lead me to cast aside something for me doing it this way, but also allows one to as james123 said, to gain that power and avoid being restricted in other areas.

" If we follow books we do not tap into the "vast, unseen reservors of dynamic power" we need in order to conduct the work of the Lord. Instead we are left to ourselves."

This statement was wonderful. My feelings. It takes a lifetime to perfect this ability to find balance between folliwng guidance and following the spirit. Thus it is with the 10 virgins, the wise are they who have learned to listen to the spirit, receive his servants, and all truth...

Again just read james123 thats exactly how I see it. I think the nephi story is a great illustration as sometimes the Lord wants us to be edified together and NOT receive answers directly through teh spirit to teach us and allow us to be edified together. Thats one key to know if you are guided or doing something correctly, were we "all edified together" so here nehpi taught lehi a very important principle. In return, lehi was able to have a major role in teach nephi where to get food and a lesson for the whole family and future generations. The lord will definitely ask us to do things that way too.

  9. I think Doctrine just answered it along with James123... until all have come unto christ... Also that relates only to a prophet not president (presidency of the high priesthood). We still will need one who holds the keys of the kingdom. The role of the president is to hold the keys of the kingdom for the affairs of the church. The presidency of the church hold the keys of the kingdom, separate callings than just a prophet though they called to be both.

I talk past people sometimes. My fault :D

  10. I'm not sure I would go so far as saying that we don't look to prophets to get things revealed. If I were an 19 y/o female who felt God was calling me now on a mission, prior to God revealing the age change to Pres Monson, I wouldn't be able to go on a full time mission.

We look to God to confirm the things revealed to His prophets (scriptures, current revelations), but we also follow His prophet in the things he has revealed (whether clarification on doctrine or new procedures/programs, etc).

Semantics. For the church, your right. For us, we can receive all the truth there is in the world. As joseph smith said, I have the four gospel books with me always. For he had the holy ghost. So do we.

However, that may have been the thought of mosses people, they wanted him to receive it "as a church"... Interesting thought. "Israelites prayed that God would speak to Moses (JS)" cf. D&C 84 around verse 23-25??.

  11. I believe the JST starts verse 13 by saying, "Till we, in the unity of the faith, all come to the knowledge of the Son of God..." Not until we all come in unity to know the Son and reach the stature of Christ will the need for prophets be done away. Until such a time as all reach the stature of the Son "of necessity there [will be] presidents, or presiding officers" (D&C 107:21).

Excellent. Going along with this idea and Skal's.

    Teachings of Joseph Smith:

“I say to all those who are disposed to set up stakes [limits] for the Almighty, You will come short of the glory of God. To become a joint heir of the heirship of the Son, one must put away all his false traditions.”8

“The great thing for us to know is to comprehend what God did institute before the foundation of the world. Who knows it? It is the constitutional disposition of mankind to set up stakes and set bounds to the works and ways of the Almighty. … That which hath been hid from before the foundation of the world is revealed to babes and sucklings in the last days [see D&C 128:18].”9

“When men open their lips against [the truth] they do not injure me, but injure themselves. … When things that are of the greatest importance are passed over by weak-minded men without even a thought, I want to see truth in all its bearings and hug it to my bosom. I believe all that God ever revealed, and I never hear of a man being damned for believing too much; but they are damned for unbelief.”10

“When God offers a blessing or knowledge to a man, and he refuses to receive it, he will be damned. The Israelites prayed that God would speak to Moses and not to them; in consequence of which he cursed them with a carnal law.”11

Anything false traditions, things not of heaven, must removed and replaced with truth. We must speak to God. We don't look to the prophet to get things revealed. They point to Christ, else they are a false prophet.

A fanciful and flowery and heated imagination beware of; because the things of God are of deep import; and time, and experience, and careful and ponderous and solemn thoughts can only find them out. Thy mind, O man! if thou wilt lead a soul unto salvation, must stretch as high as the utmost heavens, and search into and contemplate the darkest abyss, and the broad expanse of eternity—thou must commune with God.

Joseph Fielding Smith (editor), Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 137

  12. I asked this question a few days ago. Not sure if I will post all my thoughts but two more thoughts to add. Still working my head around it. So glad for the discussion.

God hath not revealed anything to Joseph, but what he will make known unto the Twelve, and even the least Saint may know all things as fast as he is able to bear them...

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 150-151

So if god will reveal to us all things why need a prophet? Not to reveal individually.

    1 John 2:27.

But the anointing which ye have received of him bideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

    Zion will be like this...

    King James Bible

Numbers 11:29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

I think McConkie always says things very well...

Truly, the Holy Ghost is a revelator. He speaks and his voice is the voice of the Lord. He is Christ’s minister, his agent, his representative. He says what the Lord Jesus would say if he were personally present.

Speaking “unto all those who” are “ordained unto” his “priesthood,” the Lord says: “And whatsoever they shall speak when moved upon by the Holy Ghost shall be scripture, shall be the will of the Lord, shall be the mind of the Lord, shall be the word of the Lord, shall be the voice of the Lord, and the power of God unto salvation” (D&C 68:2–4).

Truly this is that promised day when “every man might speak in the name of God the Lord, even the Savior of the world” (D&C 1:20).

If all of the Latter-day Saints lived as they should, then Moses’ petition would be granted: “Would God that all the Lord’s people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them!” (Num. 11:29).

This is the promised day when “God shall give unto” us “knowledge by his Holy Spirit,” when, “by the unspeakable gift of the Holy Ghost,” we shall gain knowledge “that has not been revealed since the world was until now” (D&C 121:26).

This is the day of which Joseph Smith said: “God hath not revealed anything to Joseph, but what He will make known unto the Twelve, and even the least Saint may know all things as fast as he is able to bear them” (Teachings, p. 149).

And we look forward to that glorious millennial day when “they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord” (Jer. 31:34).

But even now there is no end to the revelations we may receive. “We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God” (A of F 1:9).

To the prophets, seers, and revelators he will manifest his mind and his will concerning the Church and the world. To the presiding officers in the stakes and wards and quorums he will reveal what should be for those organizations. To fathers and mothers and children he will reveal “great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures” (D&C 89:19) to guide them along the way to perfection.

It is his will that we gain testimonies, that we seek revelation, that we covet to prophesy, that we desire spiritual gifts, and that we seek the face of the Lord.

The Lord wants all his children to gain light and truth and knowledge from on high. It is his will that we pierce the veil and rend the heavens and see the visions of eternity.

By his own mouth he has given us this promise: “It shall come to pass that every soul who forsaketh his sins and cometh unto me, and calleth on my name, and obeyeth my voice, and keepeth my commandments, shall see my face and know that I am” (D&C 93:1).

Such is his promise to us here and now while we yet dwell as mortals in a world of sorrow and sin. It is our privilege even now—the privilege of all who hold the holy priesthood—if we will strip ourselves from jealousies and fears and humble ourselves before him, as he has said, to have the veil rent and see him and know that he is. (See D&C 67:10.)

To carnal men, and even to those among us whose souls are not attuned to the Infinite, these promises may seem as the gibberish of alien tongues, but to those whose souls are afire with the light of heaven they will be as a bush that burns and is not consumed. As Paul, our fellow apostle and witness of that same Lord whose servants we are, expressed it: “The things of God knoweth no man, except he has the Spirit of God” (JST, 1 Cor. 2:11). LDS.org - Ensign Article - “Thou Shalt Receive Revelationâ€

  13. I got a couple questions.

    - Do you believe the Lord saved His most righteous spirits for these scenarios?

Yes and no. The test is the same for all. No matter the person, God is no respecter of persons. When they stand at the judgment bar they will know they were equally tried and tested.

    - If no, how do you speculate spirits born into scenarios #1 and #2 will be judged? Due to their circumstances, they are not in the position where they live full lives and or experience challenges as the rest of us do, so they are not held accountable as we are.

They have plenty of time to progress in the next life. After all don't we have another 1000 years in the millennium? Though they are already judged, they are saved in the CK. How is that fair right? Its due to the obedience in the pre-existence.

    - If the Lord descended from the Heavens today and my friend is 4.5 months pregnant, is her child exempt from all the trials that the rest of us had to endure in this lifetime? Why?

Yes and no. Millenium tests will be slightly different but still similar. However, we learn at the end there will be another war. During this final war, it will be a time to "choose" which side you will reside on Gods or Satans.

Not much to go off of.

We see the advantages here? I guess you could say being a child is, but I don't think it is however some do have greater gifts and abilities to gain and recognize light. Could call these talents.

130: 18 Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection.

19 And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come.

  14. This is a circular argument. Which means the answer is in the middle. The answer is what does the spirit want you to do.

    First the conclusion...

A ) You teach from the ensign and only change it if the spirit directs

B ) You teach by the spirit and teach from the ensign if the spirit tells you to

Why did Jared go to the brother of Jared to petition the lord during the tower of babel (book of ether)? He asks the brother to cry unto the lord to not confound the languages when he could have himself.

Than your example of the bow being broken

    .

Later when he needs to make tools to build the ship he asks the Lord himself instead of going to his father.

Than also in 1 kings 13 we have a prophet of the lord who is told by the Lord himself not to eat in the city. He begins to leave the city and another prophet comes and tells him to eat with him. The other prophet tells him he is a prophet sent by God and it is ok. So the first prophet eats and the Lord comdemns him and he is killed because God himself told him not to. The second prophet was sent for a test by the Lord and he failed it.

So why go through a intermediary person?

Simple answer, The lord wanted him to. But than other times the Lord tells you something specific to do.

Brigham was known to get his Brother-in-law, Heber C. Kimball to pray, Brigham seemed to think Heber was more likely to get answers; for whatever reason. More faith?

Does the Lord ever ask us to ask others for answers he is perfectly capable giving us himself? Yes.

My answer, to be edified together. But again its not always the case, thus the circular argument...

So how do we know? I would assume the spirit would impress upon us to ask another instead of the Lord. Likewise the other way around. Balance is key. So as you said we can use both. I even said I did occasionally. I just go about it the other way.

Dependence can be just a much a problem as pride can.

  15. We are given messages monthly that the leaders of the church, who we sustain, ask us to take into the homes of all the Saints. I acknowledge that there are times when we might feel inspired to share something else, but what I am saying is that there is a danger in taking the prideful stance that we can come up with a better message than what we're asked to deliver. That we are more inspired by the Spirit than the prophets, seers, and revalators and those who are set apart with the mantle to lead the auxiliaries of the Church. Are you or are you not saying that your way is better than theirs?

Ah yes got to throw in that "who we sustain" as if I don't give a lesson from the ensign I don't sustain them.

I could flip this around you know? Do you think they know more than God does and the spirit? But I will just answer, they do not know my families. It has nothing to do with knowing more than them. Do I teach from it? Of course but usually not.

Besides they will either read the message themself or teach it to their own families. So I think they will be covered with getting the message. Unless their Less active but than my approach is entirely different. I may actually LEAVE them a copy of the ensign :D

  16. Who knew following the spirit would get such reactions.

Good evening ElectofGod. I hope you've been well! :)

Or, use the Ensign and trust the Spirit. I believe God will bless us for humbly following the counsel of our leaders, even when it comes to going along with the various programs. In my life I have been able to trust in the Spirit while I implemented the programs provided by the Church or my local leadership. Even using the same Ensign lesson, each experience with a family I teach has been different because I have tried to rely on the Spirit. There have been cases where I've began with the Ensign article, but the Spirit took the conversation another way, which is just fine and as it should be. This way I can do the program and be blessed for obedience and also trust in the Spirit so that the right words are said to the right people.

    Regards,

Of course. The spirit will use whatever we have and make it work for the situation if we are willing to follow it and don't restrict it.

    Eowyn,

And I said nothing about making it up. The spirit won't work with those who don't take time to study it out before hand. If you are going to do that stick with the ensign.

Nor have I counseled the servants. I stated a truth. Following the spirit is the best way...

If you are saying the leaders want us to use other methods over the spirit than perhaps there is a bigger issue here. If using the spirit is not the best way than well.... I wonder what is.

I use the ensign to read and learn. I don't have to teach from it. Its helpful for many people. Its a great resource.

  17. One of the grand fundamental principles of Mormonism is to receive truth. Let it come from where it may.

Easy fix. Don't use the ensign. Follow the spirit and it will give you the best message for each family. That is where truth comes from. Than I don't have to read the same message 5 times.

No implementation would ever have to change :). People would just have to gain the faith required to do this. Which not all do so unfortunately.

  18. A random mainstream news site said 9% and huffingpost said 25%. Not reliable sources lol. But still. So I just read UK said no to the strike but obama is considering solo strike? Which he does not have power to do so. Guess we will see, hold on tight.

  19. Yes I don't know exactly either. Its interesting because war is actually what has kept (and caused) this countries problems besides just plain old greed. Now its the one thing that may keep us afloat. Who cares? I think it has to do with oil reserves and controlling the market. We rely on china for everything. Thats my guess. I have no clue though.

As soon as other nations start leaving the dollar, other nations follow. China is trying already, stalking up over 2 tons of cotton. The GMO infestation of crops here causing other countries to magically stop buying our food, causing massive amounts of farmers to go bankrupt more so. Uh! Who do we owe money to? China, and other places. As soon as they go away from the dollar (already started to) it becomes useless. What happens when we have an already inflated dollar become useless to other countries because USA currency becomes the non standard? They won't accept it. Its useless. Than we owe china a huge debt. Which we pay or suffer consequences. Its already almost useless. An inflated meaningless dollar, poeople will lose everything in the banks almost.

Are we paying attention? "rumors of wars in other lands" next "rumors of wars in our own lands"... Famines, water supply now less than 50% in most places, Russia is warning US. They are going to fight, than the rest of the nations have ot get pulled into it. WIII? Maybe. Eventually it will turn into civil unrest with massive starvation, joseph smith said so. But most likely, the collapse of the dollar causes millitia, collapse of society, and government control. Thats what everything has been about for the past 2 or 3 presidents maybe longer. Control, world order, greed, gain money money money. I have been reading about the Nazi's in world war II. Man were doing the same thing in our own land. How can we not see it? The mainstream propaganda is numbing us.

I agree, its time to clean up our own mess.

But the mainstream media continues to "convince" us it is a needed war. Seriously get food storage before its too late. Yet there seems to be a 6-25% acceptance. Lets watch it go up and up. Either that they will fake the polls and tell us it has gone up when the peoples minds are still at 6-25%.

As you can tell I have become quite upset ;).. BUT when these come, Zion is upon us :) If we can get through the mess lol.

  20. We bombed iran because they stopped using the dollar. Now they are using it again. Now syria has started to go to gold, now we are setting it up to do the same thing. Why? Because we will have global collapse (USA mainly) if the dollar becomes worthless. This is the end times, it will happen, they can only delay it so long. This QE they are doing, pumping millions into the "fake" economy is pointless but delays the financial collapse. Why do you think the government is buying billions worth of ammo and food now? Zion just may be in our generation. The Lord is giving us an opportunity what many in the past has waited for their whole lives.

  21. Ponder this.

"The Holy Ghost is now [1843] in a state of probation which if he should perform in righteousness he may pass through the same or a similar course of things that the Son has." (Joseph Smith, The Words of Joseph Smith, p. 245; Sabbath address, Nauvoo, 27 August 1843 Reported by Franklin D. Richards.)
