as a Catholic, I believe that the Catholic Church is the True, Holy, and Apostolic Church. why? because it is based off of Scripture and Tradition. Tradition is very important in the Church, because it's how the early Christians did things, from as early as the time of Peter! Since people couldn't always write and read, they relied on Tradition to know what to do. which is why We(Catholics) still use it. in terms of the apostasy.. ever heard of PROTESTANTS!! Paul talked about how THE Church would be split. he talked singular, as in ONE Church.. because He had intended there to be ONE Denomination of Christianity. but of course, people who wish to adhere to their own beliefs and who corrupt things to fit into their beliefs have left the Catholic Church, hence, caused so much disagreement in Christianity.so personally, i think the apostacy is going on right now, and has ever since martin luther came and messed things up!! (no offense lutherans.)

hello, is the writing style in the BoM different from other writings of joseph smith? or are they the same, sort of KJV like.

not to spoil this topic, and this might just simply be a lack of knowledge on my side (as i am not mormon) .. but didn't JS claim to recieve revelations when he was 14, but didn't get the BOM written down until he was in his 20's? and wasn't the Book of Mormon changed a second time or something?

bonjour! my name is kyle, i'm in my 20's, and i live in Austin, Texas. for most of my life i was agnostic, but i was always raised Catholic. last summer though, for some reason or another I found christ, and now i am a very devout catholic!! :) i study religion quite a lot.. especially islam, judaism, and of course christianity. there's an LDS church right down the street though, and i would always see people there for HOURS. so i wanted to learn what these people believed, lol. so i got online, and learned that mormons believe in joseph smith as a prophet.. which shocked me, because i always thought mormonism was just another denomination of Christianity. and then i learned that they had their own religious book, and whoa lol. so i read the Book of Mormon a few times, and have studied it a little here and there. then i had some questions, so i figured i would join here :) i debate religion a lot, but i will try not to do so here, as this is a Mormon Forum. so yeah, if i do start up a debate, please stop me in my tracks! lol. i'm also a very liberal person. i'm an extreme leftist Democrat. :) so yeah, i look forward to chatting with you guys :)

thanks all for the responses :) btw, i have read the Book of Mormon several times. but i was still unaware of the style of joseph smith compared to it. like take islam for example. you have the quran, and hadiths. the quran is supposingly the word of god, and has an interesting, poetic style. then there's the hadiths, which quoted mohammad.. and the style of mohammad is different then hadiths. muslims use this to claim that the quran had to be from god, since the qwriting styles were different. i thought maybe joseph smith would be quoted somewhere, and if his writing style was different lol

i must say, this war is the most disgusting occupation ever. you have 700,000 iraqis dead. 2 million displaced and 91% of iraqi's supporting killing U.S. troops. bush first claimed they had WMD. he was wrong. so then he claimed that if we weren't in iraq, they would be fighting here.. what a LIE!! SADDAM HATED OSAMA! osama hated saddam!! osama even BEGGED the saudi crowned prince to KILL HIM!! not for nothing, but iraq prolly supported us more in afghanistan then most other nations in the region did!! you have almost 1 million americans homeless. yet instead of helping them, they go and spend billions on some baseless, unjustified war. and the iraqi's don't even want us there!!! i can't wait until 2008.. by the grace of God, hopefully a democrat will be elected! :)

hey you guys, i'm new here, and have a few questions on mormonism.. 1. ok, i was just studying islam, and they have a challenge in their qu'ran.. it says that if you don't believe the qu'ran is true, test it for contradictions and all. does the Book of Mormon have any challenges like that too, or? 2. is the writing style in the Book of Mormon different then the writing style of Joseph Smith, or? 3. how old was joseph smith when he said that he started recieving revelations from God? was he persecuted for it? thanks!
