  1. I think IMO the best area to live in would be the NW I don;t know why but when I lived up in that area of the city I just felt warm and fuzzy inside. I currently live in the SW part of the city which is pretty good too. I think it all depends on how close you are to down town(if you plan on working there). The rockies are not that far from Calgary Banff is one of the biggest tourist spots around. There is also Lake Louise. If it is being close to the rockies you are looking for then Calgary is perfet. Tis only a 45 minute drive to the Mountains from Calgary. If you are thinking of Waterton that is south of Calgary, if you are familiar with the Cardston, Alberta Temple tis only about a hour from there. Cardston is about 2hrs south of Calgary. What part of the rockies were you looking for??? The Memeber here are great and veryu freindly I think you would love it here heck even the non-memebrs are freindly thats great, cheers! yeah ive looked at Banff on the net and it looks realy nice! i dont realy know what part of the Rockies im looking for, i dont know too much about them, they just look beautiful. i like kayaking/canoeing, biking, skiing, climbing etc. so what ever part of the Rockies would be best for that kind of thing? what do you think of the schools in Waterton and Cardston? i dont particulary want to live in the city, just close enough to commute if ness, say bout 30 min drive away Hey Dan, Don't really talk with them that much but next time I'm on Facebook I'll ask my SIL how she likes the new home and area. Calgary is about an hour from Banff, Lake Louise (rockies). You are 3 hours from the Edmonton Temple (north) and about 3 hours from the Cardston Temple (south). Southern Alberta has a good sized Mormon community (Lethbridge, Raymond, Cardston, Magrath). Residential real estate prices have gone up incredibly in the last 18 months, so the smaller communities are probably lower in cost, like Okotoks. Hope that helps. M. thanks for that Maureen!! it would be interesting to hear what they have to say. what is it like if you want to build your own house in these areas? do you think that would be a good idea or more hassle then its worth? what are some of the closer place that you would recommend? If you want close to the rockies and not really a big city. Try Lethbridge It may work for you. They don't have any schools in Waterton tis mostly a tourist spot. Cardston would be good as well, close to the Rockies, has good schooling has a temple so you be the judge form what we have told you here
  2. Some are funny some are just well dumb
  3. I am so glad that they don't have something we have to recite in Relief Society. I loved the Young Women's theme but I hated reciting it on a weekly basis. Didn't they add a few lines?? I think they did just before I got out of Young Women's I think. It was hard for us older young women to recit the new lines after saying the old ones for so many years
  4. Hi I am robanah, I am from Canada and I really enjoy this Forum so far :)
  5. I don't really understand something, this shooting that took place in Virgina Tech a few months ago. Why are they calling it a massacre? I don't want to sound dsirepectful and my heart vleeds for the familyies and vicims involved but form what I heard there was not even 10 people killed. A massacure is where at least a towns full of people are slaughtered. I am shocked that they would concider calling this a massacre. 9/11 that now that was a massacre, the holocost as well and think of in the past 500 years how many massacres where literly hundereds of people were slaughtered. I guess I am just ranting here
  6. My Seminary teacher told me something similar to that

  8. I think you are right.. I remember hearing a story about some missionoaries who were trying to ride the bus. They were short or they didn't have any mon. I can't remember. Another guy got on the bus behind them, he took some money out of his pocket and said "here, this is for these two" The missionaries said the saw this man pull out a white hankercheif, he then suddenly disappeared. They said that the knew that this was oe of the three Nehpites. I don't know how ture this was. But I do believe this kind of thing happens and they show themselves to whomever they want. I am sure that they are doing missionary work all the time
  9. I live in Calgary, and all I have to say is, you will really enjoy it if you do move here. There are so many things to do and see. I have lived here most of my life.
  10. It rea;;y does put you right n the middle of early church history, you actually feel as if you were there. I just though, this falmily(the Steeds kind of remind me of the 7th heaven family(okay so this is wrong but hey,) The reason is simple, they tak ein other distrssed people and make them part of their famil(most of them marry into the family but hey then) I love the Steed Family even though they are completly fictional
  11. The Book of Mormon, I don't know where my life would be without it
