1. I thought this might be an interesting topic to get this board alive again. It can be anything from spending the whole day on your computer to your own private island! This is one topic you can go crazy on,so don't hold back that imagination! BTW my smilies don't seem to be working.Anyone else have this problem? View the full article
2. http://www.nanowrimo.org/ Are any of you guys doing this? I'm doing it with one of my roommates, and we're going to try to get some of our friends involved, too! It would be cool just to have writing parties, and group readings and critiques, etc. Everyone who makes it past 50,000 words in 30 days is a winner! Looking forward to it! View the full article
3. I've finally gotten my Driver's License. It seems that in this case, three tries really was the charm. I'm very happy right now, as you can well imagine... So, out of curiosity, who else here has theirs? View the full article

5. This folder is set up for LDS teens (and young adults). The purpose of this forum is to provide a safe place for youth to discuss their own viewpoints and sometimes challenges amongst themselves. In addition to the general Message Board Guidelines which will be enforced very closely here, there are a few additional guidelines. -Adults are to tread lightly here. The forum is for youth to have a safe place for discussions. Advice from adults should be given lightly or not at all. If you see a questionable or inappropriate posting here report it to the moderators and they will handle it. -This folder is not to be used to proselytize or recruit for any religion or point of view. If a poster takes advantage of this forum in an attempt to destroy or unduly influence the faith of children and teens they are going to be banned. -Use of vulgarity or statements that would be considered harassment by a reasonable person will result in the poster being banned from the boards. 6. I started a new forum called "Teen Religion". The board is for teens of different churches, faiths, religions, and belief systems to talk to each other about their respective beliefs. I hope the mods don't mind a shameless plug... View the full article
7. I had the idea of starting this topic a few minutes ago, as Seminary, for me, starts tomorrow. Although some of us have already had Seminary (onelowerlight) and some of us haven't (Lolgirl, have you?), I thought we could all benefit from putting up some of our favorite scriptures or scripture mastery's and discussing them and their meanings. Sorta of a toned down version of the Discussion Board, if you will. To start, I'll post one of my favorite scriptures (non-mastery) in The Book of Mormon. Jacob 3:1-2 1 But behold, I, Jacob, would speak unto you that are pure in heart. Look unto God with firmness of mind, and pray unto him with exceeding faith, and he will console you in your afflictions, and he will plead your cause, and send down justice upon those who seek your destruction. 2 O all ye that are pure in heart, lift up your heads and receive the pleasing word of God, and feast upon his love; for ye may, if your minds are firm, forever. I take a lot of comfort in this verse. It helps with some of the things I go through at school when other kids make fun of me for not being 'normal' (a.e. - Not drinking, smoking, engaging in premarital sex, etc.). What do you guys think? Please participate!? :) View the full article
8. I'm sure this topic was done to death, long before I get here. Sorry if it's stale. Recently I had a very enjoyable experience with United airlines, since then I've had Rapsity in Blue by Gerswin in my head. I hear it when I type and think and sleep. So I dug up an old record and played the entire song. It's like 14-15 miniutes long, and let me tell you, it is *good* for those 14-15 mins. It got me to thinking about all the times I've been told to "keep the music you listen to uplifting". No one ever defined what "uplifting" music is for me, but while I was sitting there for 15 mins it kind of hit me, this is it. By the way, have you guys heard Flyleaf? they're hard core Chirstian rock. It's for all the NIN fans who are sick of hearing "god is dead". Also uplifting. though they don't play the really christian songs on their page, you can get a taste for them at http://www.flyleafmusic.com/ What uplifting music do you listen to? p.s. I think I'm liking LDS dialog and Discussion now, I actually started a thread that didn't get shut down b/c of fights. View the full article
9. Alright, I'm a BYU sophomore, and I could REALLY use some help in my dating life! It's not so much that I don't have anyone to ask out, or that I'm too scared or intimidated to do it (at least, not to the point where it would stop me), but the problem is just creativity and coming up with good ideas and plans. What are some good date ideas that you guys can offer? Also, if you have any dating advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! View the full article

12. So I have a question. I have never been interested in men, or marriage, or children, and I want a good career. I resently told my bishop that I want to be celebate for the rest of my life, but he told me that is a bad decision, and said that making that decision would be sinning against god's commandment to "multiply". I think the spirit told me he was wrong, and I decided to search the bible. I found out about eunuchs, and I think there's loads of support for the idea that I don't have to be married to please god. take for instance Isaiah 56:4-5 "To the eunuchs who keep my sabbaths, who choose what pleases and hold fast to my covenant- to them I will give to them a name within my temple and its walls a memorial name better than sons and daughters." (NIV translation) Is being celebate an honorable life choice that is pleasing to god? View the full article

17. Black is beautiful. Well, the beauty of black is simply indisputable. A fair maiden in a figure complimenting black knee length dress is an ethereal sight. Earlier mainly used as a colour of mourning, black dress shot to fame after Audrey Hepburn wore a little black dress in the 1954 movie Sabrina. Today a little black dress is considered to be an indispensable part of a women’s wardrobe. The flexibility to easily combine black with any other colour is its greatest benefit. A simple black dress could be easily transformed into an evening dress with an slight interplay of diamond accessories, stilettos and long gloves. It can also be paired with a black suit jacket, demure accessories and simple pumps. The same could also make a great daytime business meeting dress. A black is a neutral colour and doesn’t catch the attention easily. You could easily wear a black dress three days in a weak in different combinations and rouse the least suspicion. The other greatest advantage of the colour black is that it can easily camouflage dirt and stains and you need not worry about them being easily noticed. In fact, it is not just the accessories like earrings, necklaces, bracelets, purses, hair bands etc., but you also use your jackets, sweaters, shirts, scarves, shrugs, and shawls as accessories to brew a new fashion statement. You can comfortably top a sweatshirt, sweater to shirt over your little black dress to brew up a new fashion statement effortlessly and without bothering about the looks. In fact, the possibilities available are so vast that sky is actually the limit. View the full article
18. I'm involved in the creation of a new fellowship site/forum that's geared towards young adult/youth. It's still small, about 25 regualr posters, but if anyone would like to check it go to www.youthpoint.ca/forum ... (yes, I know this is spam, I'm sorry ) thanks all! View the full article
19. This folder is set up for LDS teens (and young adults). If an older poster takes advantage of this situation in an attempt to destroy the faith of children and teens they are going to be banned. We consider it abhorrent regardless of the religion involved. We will and have protected Evangelical youngsters from our own LDS posters when they have wandered in the debate folders. 20. I'm actually 21...hope I'm not violating board rules here... ...but I have a neat idea for a story, that could also do well as young adult fiction, and I'm curious as to what you guys on this forum think of it. 21. i know not everyone reading this may be LDS, but for those of you who are, i need a lot of help. my boyfriend and i have been going out for a year and almost 6 months. he is a member of the church, but a convert. his one year is june 25 and at first he was really excited about the church and spreading it to people and being a missionary. now, he doesn't want to go. he said he has prayed and fasted about it, and i know he has, but his answer is that he needs to start a family right away instead. this is hard for me because i know that i want my husband to have gone on a mission to give him the necessary background for starting a family, etc., but i don't know how to tell him i need to marry a returned missionary. i love him and he loves me, but it's a touchy subject. should i just tell him God answered his prayer wrong or something? with the rising demand of missionaries and needing to spread the gospel in the latter days, it makes no sense that he would get this answer. plus i need to marry a returned missionary! i'm so confused. any input would be appreciated. thanks! 23. Well, summer is here and - for now at least - I have a lot of time on my hands. So I decided to try and put together a list of books that I've enjoyed reading for the benefit of other teens. I'll start with these fine titles: 1) Eragon by Christopher Paolini 2) The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown 3) Sahara by Clive Cussler 4) Gone for Soldiers by Jeff Shaara 5) Star Trek: TNG - Ship of the Line by Diane Carey 6) The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy 7) Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card 8) Redwall by Brian Jacques 9) Castaways of the Flying Dutchmen by Brian Jacques 10) Foundation by Issac Asimov Other entries to the list are welcome! Don't waste your summer vacation! Read a book! View the full article
