Hi, thanks again, yes i know what you mean about not respecting another person's belief but my pastor or church doesnt see it that way, in fact we have had lesson,s about different relgions and why they dont have the "truth". Which is why this is somthing i want to be absolutley sure about before going against what my friends ,family and church tell me. There are some things that as a baptist i do not understand or do not agree with and the answer i mostly get is "well we wont know that until we get to heaven" which is fine if they really dont know. This is one of the things i like about your faith you have so many answer's to my questions that i honestly had never thought or heard of before, it all kinda fits together like one big puzzle. There is just somthing about your faith that i am being drawn to even though i am very happy at my church and would have a hard time leaving. thanks again, deb. -

Hi, thankyou all for your respones i will take a close look at the links you provided. But you are right i didnt look into the baptist church and its origins before joining i guess its just because this is a relly big descion for me and my family (not as if my husband agrees). so thanks again its nice to know what im talking about in defence to these claims. deb. -
Hi all, ok so i have only posted a few times here. I have been a member of a baptist church for almost 14 years, but recentley after speaking to lds missionaries i have a big intrest in your faith. I am reading the book of mormon and other books however do not feel ready to make the commitment to join your church as i love my church dearly. Just when i think i have reached a descion somthing happens that makes me think twice again. i was given a dvd to watch by my pastor called "dna and the book of mormon" i dont know if any of you have watched it so i wont bore you with the details just yet, but i just wondered how you would answer the claims in that dvd? As i dont know a whole lot about about your faith yet i do not have any answers of my own to make a descion. thanks in advance for any help you can give me. deb

Hi, thanks again for your answers. I think i understand now. you lost me a little bit towards the end lol. but i like to think that He was "begotten" or "unique" when He was chosen to become our saviour and took on God in the flesh. thanks again, debs.

Hi thanks for answering, ok so with that in mind, as lds believe we were all spirit children before we came to earth. so how if not physically are we Gods literal spirit children? I mean have we always been in heaven? hope this question makes sense. thanks again. debs.
-
hi everyone, probably sounds like a daft question but can some one please tell me what the word begotten means? As in jesus was Gods only begotten son? thanks in advance, debs.

hi, yes thankyou for all your help. i think you are right Adeipho i was confusing the two thankyou for telling me that. I also agree 100 % with you morning star i do believe sex is a gift from God for those who are married i just had a little trouble with the way it was presented to me ie} that sex only came when they had sinned . thanks for taking time to reply i really appreciate it. debs.

hi, just have one question that i hope you guys could clear up for me. i have spoke to a few lds who have no problem i believing that our heavenly father and mother created us spirit children the way we create our children. i think i am right in saying this is not the official postion of the church but of some individuals. I have no problem with this however when i was taught by missionaries we talked about how if the fall hadnt of happened there would have been no children ,as adam and eve would have stayed in a state of innocence. This kind of implies to me that making babies is somthing they did after they sinned if you catch my meaning. so does this mean that our heavenly father is not in a state of innocence? i hope this makes sense to you, and i know it has no bearing on my salvation and is just one of those things i will have to wait and find out, however i would like your views on this please. thankyou in advance for your taking time to reply. debs.

hi,yes i am confused i have been taught certain things for 14 years of my life but now i meet these missionaries who tell me different things. im confused because i like the sound of some of those things but i want to make sure those things are true and its not just because my heart wants them to be. as i said above i was taught that once i had recieved christ as my saviour i would recieve the holy spirit, so i have waited and prayed for him to guide me in this matter, bt to be honest i havnt "felt" anything. i simply just dont know what to do which lead to me asking the above question. i thankyou for all your opnions and maybe your right its just a case of keep praying and reading until i know for certain. thats if i never know for certain the missionaries tell me i should just step out in faith .

hi,mm well im working on it although somtimes it a bit of a battle! thankyou for all your anwsers, i think i understand, i did say to the missionaries that when they are here i feel different but as soon as they leave its a struggle once more. any way thanks for replying, debs.

hi, well i have posted a few times on here as im guess what you guys would call an investigator. i have had missionaries visiting me for a couple of months now. anyway i was raised a baptist and taught that as soon as i accepted jesus christ as my saviour that i received the holy spirit. now i have to admit that although i didnt get any warm fuzzy feeling or life changing expeirence i have always believed that the holy spirit has been leading me and guiding me,( up until this point that is when i havnt got a clue which church God wants me in) but the missionaries taught me that i wont recieve the holy spirit until i have been baptised and somone has layed their hands upon me? i dont want to go on feelings, so can you please tell me do i have the holy spirit or not?
-
hi,well if you read my story above i did go to church but it didnt work out so well. i guess i just missed my old church and friends and i didnt want to be the odd one out. yes the missionaries have visted me a few times since i explained to them how i felt, they are being kind and paitent with me but they have to move area's in a few weeks and then i wont see them again. as i said it will be in Gods time and when i feel ready, until then i will keep studying and praying and see what happens. thanks for asking.
-
hi,well not good, i mean the people were really friendly and i enjoyed the lesson's . its just while i was there my husband and children were at our baptist church. and i guess i just felt like the odd one out. we arrived home together and they were talking about what a good time they had with friends and family and i guess i just missed being there. i dont have my husbands support in going to the church of jesus christ and i guess i want him to be o.k with it, as i found it very lonley on my own. so i dont really know what to do except wait and pray and see what God has for me. but thankyou for asking.

hi again. your right i have been taught that things are black and white in the bible that there are no maybe's or what ifs. i realise that being taught this i too have limited God. i am excited in what i am learning but every now and then somthing come s up that i cant get my had around and i start to doubt. any way the sister's that came to visit explained most of the above . i understand now about how we can all become like God because a) He tells us to become like Him. now thats not going to happen here on earth but it is possible. B) the bible say's we will be JOINT heirs with Him. pretty self explanatory hey i still dont know if jesus was married as the bible just doesnt say, i personally dont think He was. but as i keep being told is that important for my eternal salvation? i now understand about marraige in heaven. and i was taught just last week in my church about Peter being given the "keys" so i guess now those keys have been passed on to todays prophets. and your right God married Adam and Eve with the idea that they would be forever. i still dont understand about God coming from God but again i dont spose that is important right now , and i will find out when i reach heaven. i found a verse in the bible that i am really excited about and would just like to share it with you (even though you know it already) isaiah 29:11, just more confirmation for me -

yes all your answers help very much, i guess its going to be a slow process to learn and understand these things. i have a book of mormon but i hear of these other books "pearl of great price" and "d&c" ?? where can i get these books? thanks again guys -
ok i am new here but even i can see that follower does not wish to join the church of jesus christ and the latter day saints. and has no interest (and would even go so far as to say thinks you guys are wrong) as far as the book of mormon goes. now im guessing follower is a christian (correct me if im wrong) but i personally believe its not very christian like to come on a forum and argue with people about their faith. i too was ignorant to any thing else that any other "church" had to say however i learned that with God anything is possible. im happy that you are so grounded in your faith there are many that are not, but somtimes it can also make you blinkered to what else God wants you to know. i guess what i am saying is that we welcome you here and if you dont believe everything you read here that is your opnion, and we have ours. we are all going to stand strong in our faith i just dont see what coming on here and saying what we believe is wrong is going to accomplish? does it bring glory to God to argue amongst ourselves? does it make us better christians? i think somtimes we lose sight of whats important , we start to judge or attack others simply because we dont understand or dont not wish to. It is ultimatley God that will judge so lets leave it to Him.

well again thankyou for your time in answering my questions. yes this is the first time i have heard this things as when my friends from the mormon church visit me they have never said "ok, here you go here's a list on where we stand doctrinally" they have let me do all the talking and answered my questions honestly. however upon digging deeper i have come upon these questions. now if these things that have been talked about are the view of the church then i will not be part of that church simply because some of the things talked about i simply dont agree with. as the bible tells me other wise. some of you have been honest and said what they think of my questions but at the begginnig no one would give me a straight answer. i do not believe God had to earn His status. He is the beginnig and the end the alpha and the omega . to say he had to earn it means He is not the beginning. i do not believe we will be gods, again God said there was no God before Him and there shall be non after Him. to say jesus was married ...well ok i dont no 100 %, but i personally dont think He was because if he was i think the bible would of told us plainly and also because of the questions he and his disciples had about marrage and how it would be a lot easier to do the lords work if you were single, but it is ok to take A wife. which brings me to you saying its ok to have more than one wife as the rabbi in those times would have done.......but jesus wasnt just another rabbi He was the messiah, holy one he was not like the rest of poeple on earth at that time so to compare him to an earthly being i think is wrong. jesus was in the beginnig with God as john chapter 1 states , i believe that God the father God the son and God the spirit were together at the creation of the earth. i do not believe we will be married in heaven as the bible says in luke if im correct that no one shall be married or given in marriage. i understand there is room for dicussion and debate on a whole load of topics in the bible however i would feel comfortable if the church i was attending or about to attend knew where it stood on such matters. for instance if i answered all your questions about my church and you became a member but then i told you that every sunday you have to wear bright pink (even your underpants) as this is what we as a church have decided is what God wants, you would feel a little bit silly and probably even mad, because a)you think this is silly and B) because no one told you this before you joined. i hope you understand my point, these are my personal beliefs only, and i respect you for having yours. however i want to know where a church stands bibcally and doctrinally before i join it , and for me if it is even contemplating any of the above then for me its the wrong church. i thankyou again and my intetion is not to offend any one so i hope i havnt. its just for me weather we no the answers or not they are really big topics and i need to know where a church stands on them before i join it. -

hi, well as you know i have had some people from the mormon church been visting me and so far so good until i read and heard some things about which the mormons believe which i didnt know about, now i want to give you guys the benefit of the doubt but if these things are true then my personal beliefs will no longer let me pursue this line of relgion. wondered if you could just tell me if these things you believe to be true? did God have sex with mary ? do you think jesus was created? do you think jesus was married not to just 1 wife but maybe 3? do you think that you will become gods when you die? do you think women will be pregnant for etenrnity (in which to populate your own planets???) do you think God had to earn his status of God? now if this is what you believe then that truly is your right and i will say no more on the subject, however for me these things i do not believe and will not be a part of any church that does. any way thanks in advance for your help
