  1. Douglas I have been following your posts for some time now. This is just wonderful. Congratulations, it really has brightened up my days when I have read your progress in being taught and then converted. I wish you the best of luck and I hope the transition of you being in the church will be smooth with your family. I'm leaving on Halloween to go to the MTC and then serve my mission and if I could just convert one person as enthusiastic as you, well then I think I would be happy forever.
  2. Wow HiJolly, us unfettered Mormons seem to provoke non amiable discussion. People should know egos are only allowed at Mormon Apologetics Discussion Board.
  3. Well I'm sure you are doing a great job as a mom, sorry if this came across as sort of harsh. Directing and encouraging children to where their talents lie is a careful balance parents have to walk, because sometimes it becomes more of what the parents want than the kids. I state this as an observation of parents and not an accusation to anyone. If parents are encouraging and enabling their children, then they are doing something very right.
  4. My advice to you would be not to tell him how much better he is at things than other children his age. Having to live up to expectations like that either makes kids purposely under achieve or they end up really messed up like Orson Wells. The worst thing parents can do is tell their children they are geniuses.
  5. Basically I think this might be the best new show for kids in ages. It was designed and created by two members of the band, the Aquabats, and it's getting rave reviews. Its on Nick Jr. You really just have to check this out. There are shows I am collecting that someday I am going to show my future kids so they will be cool. This is for sure one of them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yo_Gabba_Gabba! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggrOcBWqHiU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VV229DbXic...ted&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9PqjMSNfkU...ted&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOiSNGYrQN4&NR=1 Anyway this show has some great music. None of that fake rock they have on kids shows. They just have real bands that a kid friendly like The Shins.
  6. I'm a huge fan of Infinite Solutions. Proof that if something has good presentation it can lead even intelligent people into believing anything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2dfKm8XzSQ...ted&search=
  7. Maybe this is because I am 19 and leaving for my mission in less than a month, but I would personally rather not have to deal with sexual feelings in the afterlife. I'm sure that changes when you have a wife and all that jazz, but I really hope there is a much deeper way of loving in a Celestial state. We use only 10% of our brains in our mortal bodies and we can read each other's thoughts in heaven, I don't know about you, but I can picture much grander designs than that of sex on earth.
  8. I think one of the hardest parts of forgiveness is when you feel the confirmation on the Lord's end that you have been forgiven, but you still have a hard time forgiving yourself. I think that point of repentance is often left in the shadows. You have to meet Jesus halfway.
