  1. 1. Um. . . I am terrible at remembering scripture, I will have to get back with you. (asap) 2. I personally take things outside of the religion I chose with a grain of salt. Noone in the church tells me to, and it is not because I don't respect other religions or don't think some may be true. I think I do it because I read so much and I need some kind of guide for myself. Not to say I don't belive anything if it does not come from a LDS sourse, but I am less likely to. But that is just me... Don't judge the whole church on one person who feels like she has to know EVERYTHING. :)
  2. Thanks I will read D&C93 and Moses 1 tonight. It is funny how when I try to find answers outside the church I get more questions, and in it, sensible answers.
  3. Yes I agree with the time period, and that it accounts for dinosaurs as well. But I was wondering what were you and I and all of God's other children doing? I don't remeber where but I read in a LDS sourse that Jesus helped create the earth and I want to know what we were doing while our eldest Brother and Father were creating the Earth. Now this is just speculation but it would be cool to think that we each had a hand or even imput in the creation of our home. What made me so curius is on the other non LDS sourse they are saying that God let Lucifer have some time ruleing the Earth long befor humans. (Befor he rebeled) Now I take every thing I read outside of Church docterine with less than a grain of salt but it did get me thinking. . .
  4. I have been browsing a non LDS forum and there is a belife that befor God used the Earth for humans, he had other uses. Some of the theorys are really bizzare and I was wondering if the Church has a stance or if any one knew anything? What did we do with ourselfs in the time befor we were human, did we help with the creation of Earth?
  5. When I am faced with questions about science I often get the most resonable answer from BYU lectures and books. It is always a pleasant surprise to find a LDS scientist perspective on a subject that confuses me.
  6. My father seems to have gone crazy over my son as well. He was never like this with me growing up, although I know he loves me. He spoiles his Grandkids rotten. He is a bear of a man 6 feet something well over 200 pounds and a full beard to boot. you would never belive the way he plays with his grandkids if you saw him on the street! I guess we are just lucky! Do you notice how much deeper you feal about your husband, or dad when you see how good they are with your kids? or is it just me? I tell my husband all the time if you want me happy just be nice to our kids. (not that he is mean or anything)
  7. I just read that "spare the rod spoil the child" is interpreted to mean spare the word of God spoild the child ( hold on to the golden rod) puts different twist on the qoute
  8. Were do you get the idea that God has not spoken to his prophets in 100 years? I for one know that God did not cancel his plan. Becouse of the spirit I felt that compelled me to join this church, and the spirit that i felt as i was married for time and all eternity. I know that these times we are living in are bad and are going to get worse. But I know that God want's every one who will to partake in his plan, just because the majority don't is not an idicator that he has giving up on us.
  9. I think that every woman Mormon or not should read this book. It is by beveryl campbell. Please tell me what you think if you already read it.
  10. One word ADOPTION. If these women are unfit parents, there are thousands of good people waiting for a baby to love and raise. Why kill it? Because a girl may loose her figer? One child will not ruin a womans figer if she works a little to keep it. But one abortion can do so much damage to a womans personality, self-image, and uterus.
  11. I agree that in some situations like if the mother's life is a risk abortion is an option. What gets me is how easy it is for any one else to do this to herself. And the fact that it would be done wether it is legal or not does not justify it being legal. There is rape and theives and child molesters and there probably will be untill the second coming but does that mean we should legaliz these things? Are we so desensitized as a contry that we cannot see how wrong this whole situation is? And as far as women being judged for having children out of wed lock, I don't know about the rest of the country but were I live it seems to be the norm. In fact I felt like the odd one out for being married.
  12. When I joined this church I noticed the large amounts of children in the ward (compared to my old church with nothing but elderly people). And I decided I would rather be in a church I belived was true and focused on family than anywere else. I am not being judgmental, because I acually "accidentally" became inactive since having my kids. The testimony is still there but I am so tired and it is hard to deal with babies and toddlers at church, but these are just exuses for my inacivity. Do you think maybe the noise level could be your exuse for inaciviy? I know how bad it feals to not be where you know you should and how easy it is to look for a reason outside of yourself. I should add though that although there is alot of kids in our ward it is not that noisy so maybe I just don't understand how bad it is for you.
  13. You are right, but are we all supposed to just accept it b/c it is legal? And we can teach our kids all the morals in the world but what about the helpless babies concieved by the kids with parents who did not teach them the to make wise choices? Should they die????? I'm sorry if I seem to be ranting unintelligently this whole issue just makes me so crazy!!! My ex-best friend has had 2 maybe 3 abortions in the past 2 years. Just because she did not want to have a baby right now or by the father of the child. The first time I was so upset but decided to forgive her because we have been friends for so long. The second murder tore me up because I feal so accountable for not having did moor to let her know how awful what she did is. I only talk to her occasionly now and never see her, but I feal accoutable for the baby.
  14. I would like to metion the not so small issue of abortion I think the presidents stance on this matter is a clear indicator of who he is compared to pro-choice (pro-death) Kerry. Would you want your teen-age daughter to have an abortion avalible to her w/o your knowledge? Or even a woman you don't Know being able to kill her own child for conviance? I feal I can say these things on an LDS forem because we understand the importance of life and the importance of not making the world we live in be one were a scared woman can commit murder and damage herself eternally. I will be voting for Bush b/c no matter his flaws, he is not shifty. I feal that we do not know what we will be getting with a man like Kerry who is so wishy-washy it makes me sea-sick. Any time I think Kerry may get my vote he will say something to concradict whatever made me lean his way. Another question I have is what are your veiws on stem-cell research and is abortion okay to you in some situations?
