  1. Exaltation is living in the presence of the Father, or more correctly, "receiving all that the Father hath." "To raise in rank, power, honor, character, etc." Exultation is a joyous outburst, or the like. "To rejoice exceedingly, be highly elated or jubilant".I'm sure those who are exalted will exult.
  2. Now, in your calculations, did you take exchange rate into account? Also, there are 3.7something litres in a U.S. Gallon. I know we have cheap fuel here, comparatively, but it still bugs me. I hate that our culture is so dependent on cars. I really hate that our cities are laid out so as to discourage other modes of transportation. And, I really don't like that so many motorists are so ignorant of traffic laws, who mistakenly think they have a right to use the public roads, when, in reality, it is they who are only privileged to do so. I guess this'll cause some thread creep.
  3. Gosh, this is so much like the "toilet seat" thing it's not funny.Oh yeah, I forgot about the argument at hand. Since landry loads are of several different types, it behooves the launderer to set the machine to the requirements of a given load (or at least check to see that is correct). Though, like with gas in the car, the other probably has some culpability for not putting it back as previously set. However, it would be a very small amount. By the way, are you the same Morning Star from FAIR that has issues with mayonnaise?
  4. Well, you're going to meet all kinds, and apparently, you have. What "Mormons" believe about anything is up to the individual, just as is true from any other faith. What the doctrines of the Church are, is a different story. Usually, "the Great and Abominable" statement is taken from 1 Nephi chapters 13 and 14 wherein Nephi is shown in vision the "Church of the Devil" being set up amongst the Gentiles and said Church removing "many plain and precious parts of the Bible". There are many places one could look in early LDS Chuch history where leaders had given talks that pointed the finger at the Catholic Church as being the Church of the Devil, but this is likely nothing more than the popular hyperbole of the time as a great many Protestant preachers were saying much the same thing. Since the Catholic Church is arguably the oldest extant Christian Church and had jurisdiction over whatever scriptures were around at the time, it is easy to draw the conclusion that this particular organization must be responsible for the changes to the Bible. That said, the Catholic Church, as presently constituted, did not exist at the time in question and is just as much a victim of the Church of the Devil as the rest of us are. That, and the Church of the Devil is as much an abstraction as the Church of God, or Zion, as it is called. Both "churches" are omnipresent, and people, generally, are constantly switching memberships, as it were. I happen to believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as an organization, is divinely appointed and is the only one that has authority from God to perform saving ordinances. This does not mean that any and all members of the organization are automatically saved, neither are all such who do not belong to the organization automatically damned. In fact, our very doctrines refute such an idea.
  5. Wow, Utah sounds like a fun place... Welcome, Pammy, and good luck with that.
  6. And those who are not. Just for the sake of clarity, that title was written tongue firmly planted in cheek... I hail from the great State of Denial, erm, I mean, Minnesota. Of course, "great" is a wholly subjective term. Well, here I am. Not entirely sure why, but I think it has something directly to do with boredom. I'd spent some time at FAIR, some time on LDSchat, at least for a couple days until their little Java deal decided it hated Windows XP. I am fairly active at MORC, and I was even a guest mod at Traxxas. Discussion fora are not new to me, but this one is. Not as if that's terribly important, but I wrote it anyway. I am a currently active member of the Shoreview Ward of the Saint Paul, Minnesota Stake. I currently serve as an Elders' Quorum teacher. I tend to be a bit pedantic, but I try not to take it to extremes. I spend lots of time on my bicycle, at least when I'm not avoiding work at work, like right now. If I'm not doing that, I'm on the X-Box, or the Internet, or wasting lots of time in some other extremely efficient way. I used to like driving, but my distaste for paying more than $3 for a gallon of gas kinda took that away. Now, I try to bicycle everywhere. Unfortunately, it's winter and it's cold. I hate the cold. What's worse, is it'll get all nice and warm on Saturday, and I'll head for our lovely, snow encrusted singletrack, and have a great ride. Think to myself, I gotta ride to work on Monday, but invariably, the bottom falls out of the thermometer on Sunday afternoon, making for a miserable ride with cold feet. Thankfully, February is quickly sliding into history and it will be spring soon.) I think that's a long enough post for the moment. I may post other stuff if there are any threads that spark my interest enough to pipe up. Oh yeah, my name is Trevor.
