1838 - The Prophet Joseph Smith was at home very ill but records that Governor Boggs issued an order to Captain Childs to have the Boonville Guards ready to march at the end of the week and an order to General S. D. Lucas to march with four hundred mounted men to “the scene of difficulty” and co-operate with General Atchison. (History of the Church, 3:81) Also, the Kirtland Camp arrived at the Illinois River and began crossing on the ferry. They had now traveled 629 miles from Kirtland, Ohio, on their way to Missouri.

1839 - Elders Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball leave Nauvoo for their missions to England. Both were too ill to get into the wagon on their own. They both left their wives and children sick in bed. As they were leaving, Elder Kimball had the wagon stop. He and Brigham Young stood to their feet and shouted, “Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, for Israel.” The two women, hearing the shout, came to the door and waved a farewell. They then continued on their journey, without purse, without script, for England.

1966 - The first stake in Connecticut is organized at Hartford.
