1835 - The Prophet Joseph met with the Kirtland Stake High Council as they heard a charge against Allan Avery who was appealing a case from the Elders Court in Missouri which took away his license to preach for rebelling against them. 1839 - Being Sunday, the Prophet Joseph preached at his own home to a group of Saints. He spoke saying it was useless for missionaries to talk of judgements to the world, but rather to preach the simple Gospel. He also stated that it was wrong to think that the Saints would escape all the judgements, that some would suffer because of various reasons, some would die but be saved in the Kingdom of God. That if Saints do die as part of the last day turmoil, that it is improper to think they died because of sin. Encouraged all to "judge not, lest ye be judged."

1842 - The Prophet Joseph spends the day with his wife Emma, who had become sick with fever. (History of the Church, 5:166)
