Franken Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Am I the only person who is about to choke on all these politics?? Geesh, everyone should just forget about politics and go move to an Austrian small town where you know everyone in the village, and they basically support each other, never bothered by the government. Snow Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 I am curious to know exactly what is causing you to choke. The threads that contain politics are easily identified. From there it is a matter of not reading. Does the mere knowledge that other people are interested in politics bother you so? Quote
Guest TheProudDuck Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 Why an "Austrian" small town? I mean, Austria in the 20th century produced a lot more politics than it could consume locally. It was directly connected to the origins of both World Wars, after all. Quote
Franken Posted October 15, 2004 Author Report Posted October 15, 2004 Well, they're not like that anymore are they? But yeah, wouldn't it be nice don't you think to live in a community where you would know everyone, and the government doesn't bother them at all, like no taxes, no real use of money all that much either cause everyone just kind of supports each other. Just somewhere deep in Austria in a small village would be good. Quote

Just somewhere deep in Austria in a small village would be good. I grew up in a town that fits that description---there was no mayor, no city council, no police and everybody knew everybody. It was hell.Constant gossiping, your life was not your own because everyone knew everybody else's business and was anxious to spread it around. It was impossible to get a job as a teenager because the area was to unproductive to have even light industry really. I would gladly have paid taxes if I there was even I job where I could earn enough to pay them.I was always getting lectured by some self-rightous pompous guardian of morality about how I wasn't living up to community expectations. The weather and surroundings were great, but the social life was lousy---too few good looking chicks, and too many religious fanatics. Quote

That's why if I was to do something like that, I'd get married THEN go there. I'd bring my business there to make money. Not that any of this would ever happen *sigh* but ya know, your bursten my bubble of dreams! Quote
Guest Winter283 Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Am I the only person who is about to choke on all these politics??I'm not much into politics myself. I've been trying to find non-political places to post, but can't really find many. I guess it's just because the election is drawing near... Quote
