1 Nephi 2:12

12 And thus Laman and Lemuel, being the eldest, did murmur against their father. And they did murmur because they knew not the dealings of that God who had created them.

QUOTES FOR DISUSSION

Why do people murmur or complain against the plans and purposes of the Lord and his servants? It is often because they know not the "dealings of that God who created them." Those who have failed to obtain the needed witness of the particular work or doctrine involved lack the proper perspective and thus are unable to view things from a divine perspective. Conversely, those whose minds are single to the glory of God-those who "seek not the things of this world but seek ... to build up the kingdom of God, and to establish his righteousness" (JST, Matthew 6:38)-see things in their true light, "things as they really are, and ... things as they really will be" (Jacob 4:13; cf. D&C 88:67-68). Murmuring and complaining simply disclose an uncommitted soul. Commitment and obedience bring understanding that cannot otherwise be had (see 1 Nephi 15:7-11).
