marshac Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 So a few questions from a new member :) How does the cannery work? What are the prices? Do you need to make an appointment? Thanks :) Quote
Jenamarie Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Check out Provident Living Home There you can search for a cannery near you and find out their hours, and if you need an appointment. I know at the one near me (Portland, OR) you need to have an appointment made, and you have to come in a group of eight, except for Tuesdays (or Thursdays? I forget) when they allow "walk-ins".On the website also you'll find an order form which gives you prices according to how much you want, and what kind of packaging you want (cans or mylar bags). The cannery staff LOVE IT if you fill out one of these order forms beforehand and bring it with you when you do your canning so they know how many bags of food to bring out for you to can. Quote
Jenamarie Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Oh, and also if you go to the lds catalog website: WelcomeYou can order wheat, beans, rice, and quick oats to be mailed right to you. :) Quote
rameumptom Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Your ward, or perhaps stake, should also have a canning specialist. You can work with that individual as well, to see if they schedule ward/stake trips to the cannery. Quote
havejoy Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 I always call, make an appointment, and myself and a few friends go up and spend 4 hours canning. Quote
Wardy Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 Hi, I was interested in either using or purchasing from one of your canneries. I am very attracted to your reasonable prices. I recently took one of the l LDS ham radio classes and the instructors were very good. Keep up the good work. Quote
