zacharywilliamz Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 I know that there is a scripture that is mentioned throughout the standard works but it totally slipped my mind. Any help with this one? Quote
Wingnut Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 The 10 commandments are reiterated in each. As for a specific verse, I doubt it. Quote
rameumptom Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Malachi's prophecy of Elijah coming is in each of the works: Bible, Book of Mormon (3 Nephi), Doctrine and Covenants 2, Pearl of Great Price JS-H1. Quote
Guest tomk Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) This is kinda close:OLD TESTAMENTIsa. 64: 4 4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. NEW TESTAMENT1 Cor. 2: 9 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. BOOK OF MORMON3 Ne. 17: 16 16 And after this manner do they bear record: The eye hath never seen, neither hath the ear heard, before, so great and marvelous things as we saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father; D&CD&C 133: 45 45 For since the beginning of the world have not men heard nor perceived by the ear, neither hath any eye seen, O God, besides thee, how great things thou hast prepared for him that waiteth for thee. It's not the exact same wording, but it is the same sentiment. Edited May 13, 2009 by tomk Quote
Guest Doctrine Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) I know this is a old post but why not. I think the answer could be Joel 2:28-32 I found it in the Old Testament, Book of Mormon, d and c, and pear of great price, New Testament Edited June 29, 2013 by Doctrine Quote
skippy740 Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 Elijah:Luke 1:1717 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. Malachi 4:66 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. 3 Nephi 25:66 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. D&C 2:22 And he shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers. D&C 98:16-1716 Therefore, renounce war and proclaim peace, and seek diligently to turn the hearts of the children to their fathers, and the hearts of the fathers to the children;17 And again, the hearts of the Jews unto the prophets, and the prophets unto the Jews; lest I come and smite the whole earth with a curse, and all flesh be consumed before me. Joseph Smith History 1:3939 He also quoted the next verse differently: And he shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers. If it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming. Quote
