1830 - Hiram Page, a member of the Church, had a certain stone, and professed to be receiving revelations by its aid concerning the up-building of Zion and the order of the Church. Several members, including Oliver Cowdery, were wrongly influenced by Brother Page. With a conference in a few days, the Prophet Joseph inquired of the Lord concerning this matter, and received a revelation known as Doctrine and Covenants 28 explaining the proper order of things. Joseph was told to take Hiram Page privately and explain the revelations he was receiving were from Satan and that only the head of the Church held the keys to revelation to lead the Church. 1838 - The Kirtland Camp crossed the Mississippi River into the state of Missouri and camped just west of the town of Louisiana. They had been hearing of trouble for the Saints in Missouri for a few days now, but continued on in faith, relying on the protection of the Lord to deliver them safely to Far West, Missouri.

1838 - A mob of one hundred to one hundred fifty men, entered the Mormon settlement of De Witt, Missouri, and was going to force them from their homes. However, it was decided to give them until October 1st to remove from the county or face extermination.

1842 - The Prophet Joseph continues to sit for his portrait being painted by Brother David Rogers. (History of the Church, 5:165)

1850 - United States President Millard Fillmore appoints the first territorial officials for the newly created territory of Utah; Brigham Young is appointed as its first governor.

1910 - The Deseret Gymnasium, owned by the Church, opens in a building on the Church Administration Block in Salt Lake City, Utah.

1917 - United States President Woodrow Wilson appoints James H. Moyle as assistant secretary of the U.S. Treasure. He is the first Latter-day Saint to serve in a sub-cabinet position in the United States.

1936 - President Heber J. Grant dedicates the Winter Quarters Cemetery Monument in Florence, Nebraska, with the Tragedy of Winter Quarters statue by Avard T. Fairbanks as the central sculpture. The monument honors the Saints who perished at Winter Quarters during the winter of 1846-1847.

1984 - The Sydney Australia Temple is dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley.

2005 - His Excellency Nambar Enkhbayar, President of Mongolia, visited with the 54 Mongolian students at BYU-Hawaii, answered their questions, listened to their accomplishments and encouraged them to help provide similar educational opportunities for others by creating jobs when they return home.
