ARTICLE EXCERPT: With the newly published A Book of Commandments & Revelations, a previously unavailable book of revelations has been published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Joseph Smith began seeing visions and receiving revelations from God in the 1820s. Today nearly 15 million Mormons consider his revelations to be scripture).

A Book of Commandments & Revelations contains earlier versions of revelations than published in the Book of Commandments (1833) or the Doctrine and Covenants (1835). It was a handwritten copy of revelations primarily assembled in 1831 by John Whitmer.

James Covill "had been a Baptist minister for about forty years" and had decided to join the Mormon church when the revelation (D&C 39) was received for him.

God will give revelations to anyone who is properly prepared to recieve them. Otherwise nobody would recieve an answer to their prayers.
