Guest Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 Oh my goodness. I can't believe I didn't fly there. What an opportunity to meet the First Presidency! I'm from Cebu. In Cebu, back in 1991, there was one ward (or was it a branch?) that I pass by to go to my high school. We don't know much about that building except it has the best basketball court. All we know about Mormons is that they wear white shirts with nametags and carry purses. I went back to Cebu in 1998 and found out that there's a new ward building right by my house. I also found out that my father's friend from his work is in the bishopric. I went back to Cebu in 2002 and found that the ward building by my high school has become a Stake Center (I got baptized in 2000 in Florida). I went to ask my Catholic uncle if he can point me to some resources to trace our genealogy and he told me to ask the people at the Stake Center to use their computer. (The Catholic church also keeps birth and death records but my uncle feels the stake center is a better source, amazingly). And now it's 2010 and there's a temple not even 20 kilometers away from my house. Amazing, isn't it? Quote
