In May 2005 there was article called “The Power of Preach My Gospel,” by Richard G. Scott

If you have not read it I suggest you wipe the dust off you’re May Ensign 2005 or find it on line and read it.

I have been meaning to do it and finely got off my butt to do what he suggested in doing order the missionary manual used to teach investigators.

It become more important yesterday when a friend asked us to meet him for “coffee”, He is 52 and been a Catholic all his life. He has been asks about the church since we have known him (two years) he had an officer he served under for many years who was a bishop and he use to watch him knowing he was “a Mormon” and was very imprested how he walked and talk the walk, his words.

When he met us and we became good friends, he has always at times asked many question about our faith. I have always given him a DVD and The book of Mormon, witch he read and said some of it was so hard to get though. We told him it has its moments. He is the type that is not comfortable being taught by young missionaries. He loved to talk to them but he is an old school retired army.

Anyhow we meet with him and he said “Holy cow there is a lot of (@#$%) on the internet about your church”! when he sat down.

I suggested he try the LDS.org or Mormon.org he would get more out of those web sites then just surfing the internet.

He told us he was at a crossroads and was resigning his possession as secretary at the Catholic Church. We sat there for two hours answering all his questions and out of no were I found my self-baring him my testimony about Joseph Smith and the church. I asked, “Dan come to church with us this Sunday and find out for your self”. I told him our friendship would never hang in the balance that we loved him and his family.

He said YES!

When my husband and I drove away, I turned to Ed and asked how he felt that went? He said I am so excited! I turned to him and said, “You have no idea how long I have prayed for Dan!” “I am mean a Long Long time”! I felt high and he said he was two.

Now comes the hard part, we have taught with the missionary but they were the ones trained we added our testimonies and how we applied the gospel in our lives and the blessings that fallowed.

We don’t have missionaries right now, they were pulled from our aria.

We are waiting for new ones next transfer (fingers crossed).

We have procrastinated ordering these manuals “Preach My Gospel” like the article suggested so until they come we will have to wing it with help from other members.

I wanted to write this to you and strongly suggest you order a manual “Preach My Gospel” so you not have to play catch-up with a friend who wants to know more.

Keep Dan Finn in your prayers he is such a dear man and if he joined the church he would bring with him such a spirit and energy with him.

I have several of the Preach My Gospel manuals in my house. We use them in our Pre-MTC class for seniors in high school and older that are preparing to go on a mission.

It is a great personal study manual and I would encourage everyone to have one in their home. A great study tool for FHE and personal study.

Our Ward gave every family a copy of Preach My Gospel. Our family mostly uses it for FHE lessons. It really is a great tool akin to the old Gosple Principles manual.

It feels great to have your missionary efforts rewarded!

Cool story! The people who I used to work with all figured out I was LDS before I told them because they saw my institute parking sticker. I was always treated with a special kind of respect, they were careful not to be too crude around me, and now and then I would get some interesting questions, usual comment and cautious attempts at finding out more about our church. Of course lots of people are afraid you will try and pressure them into something they are not ready for or don't want to do. I have never had the pleasure/opportunity to find someone seriously interested in the gospel, much less the chance to teach them or put them in touch with those who can teach them. I can only imagine what kind of joyful feeling it would be to know that I was somehow instrumental in guiding someone to higher truths! Sunny

This is the second friend in less then two years.

My co-worker and friend joined last spring. It was the same kind of experience. I told her I know a way to help her find peace in her life and I asked her if she would meet with the elders. She said yes as well, my husband baptized her two months later then the army posted them away from us before school started in the fall. She is doing well and loves her new but large ward. :)

She is the friend that was assaulted I wrote about.

After these two experiences I feel more comfortable in just diving right in when the time is right.

The Preach my Gospel will help us know what else we can do since our missionary are gone, I sure hope we get dedicated sisters or a older couple.

Seriously, I think it was Dan watching us and we lived our faith, he likes the things that are real with us, Molly Mormon I am not and nether is my hubby Peter priesthood. We are a work in progress he thinks that the thing that stuck out to him. I do not know how many times I said in passing that the church was true the members are that work in progress.

I am not bragging I have been thinking about it since it happened. We answered his questions when he asked and gave him the BOM and the DVD of the restoration and others.

We gave him information with no presser; I think it was the right time for him.

The Preach my Gospel manual hopefully help us act on those moments again in the years to come. :)

That can be the most powerful conversion tool we have. Some people don't want to hear about the Gospel, but may see something in the lives of its members that is appealing to them and makes them want to know more.

The mission president just called me to tell me that the zone leaders will be calling this week to set up times for them to meet our friend Dan.

I called him and left a message telling him about Dan he jumped right on it.

I am so excited for Dan and for us too of course.

Members of the church who live rightously, have a persona about them. The Holy Ghost. Through them and their actions the Holy Spirit reaches out to touch the hearts of others.

:bouncingclap: WAY TO GO Winnie. It is such a wonderful feeling when this happens ~ when someone you know and really care for takes the steps to becoming a member.
