I miss the lyric thread... so I'm starting another up to avoid having to go find it again....

BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME

For all those times you stood by me

For all the truth that you made me see

For all the joy you brought to my life

For all the wrong that you made right

For every dream you made come true

For all the love I found in you

I'll be forever thankful baby

You're the one who held me up

Never let me fall

You're the one who saw me through it all

You were my strength when I was weak

You were my voice when I couldn't speak

You were my eyes when I couldn't see

You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when I couldn't reach

You gave me faith 'coz you believed

I'm everything I am

Because you loved me

You gave me wings and made me fly

You touched my hand I could touch the sky

I lost my faith, you gave it back to me

You said no star was out of reach

You stood by me and I stood tall

I had your love I had it all

I'm grateful for each day you gave me

Maybe I don't know that much

But I know this much is true

I was blessed because I was loved by you

You were always there for me

The tender wind that carried me

A light in the dark shining your love into my life

You've been my inspiration

Through the lies you were the truth

My world is a better place because of you

sung by CELINE DION

May we all find...or keep that kind of love in our lives.

I Love You This Much

He can't remember

The times that he thought

Does my daddy love me?

Probably not

That didn't stop him

From wishing that he did

Didn't keep him from wanting

Or worshipping him

He guesses he saw him

About once a year

He could still feel the way he felt

Standing in tears

Stretching his arms out

As far as they'd go

Whispering daddy

I want you to know

[Chorus:]

I love you this much

And i'm waiting on you

To make up your mind

Do you love me too?

How ever long it takes

I'm never giving up no matter what

I love you this much

He grew to hate him for what he had done

'cause what kind of father

Could do that to his son?

He said 'damn you daddy'

The day that he died

The man didn't blink

But the little boy cried

[Chorus:]

I love you this much

And i'm waiting on you

To make up your mind

Do you love me too?

How ever long it takes

I'm never giving up no matter what

I love you this much

Half way through the service

While the choir sang a hymn

He looked up above the preacher

And he sat and stared at Him

He said

'forgive me father'

When he realized

That he hadn't been unloved

Or alone all his life

His arms were stretched out

As far as they'd go

Nailed to the cross

For the whole world to know

[Chorus:]

I love you this much

And i'm waiting on you

To make up your mind

Do you love me too?

How ever long it takes

I'm never giving up no matter what

I love you this much

One of my most favorite hymns in the world:

Amazing Grace

written by John Newton

Amazing grace! (how sweet the sound)

That sav'd a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found,

Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

And grace my fears reliev'd;

How precious did that grace appear,

The hour I first believ'd!

Thro' many dangers, toils and snares,

I have already come;

'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,

And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis'd good to me,

His word my hope secures;

He will my shield and portion be,

As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,

And mortal life shall cease;

I shall possess, within the veil,

A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,

The sun forbear to shine;

But God, who call'd me here below,

Will be forever mine.

These are the original verses to the hymn that has we have come to know as "Amazing Grace" as it was written by John Newton in 'Olney Hymns' first edition in 1779 and the 1808 edition. Over the years additional verses have been added to the original hymn.... by other writers, or possibly verses from other Newton hymns were added later..... below are some different verses added to the hymn.

When we've been there ten thousand years

Bright shining as the sun,

We've no less days to sing God's praise

Than when we'd first begun.

As we now lay our garments down

Upon our beds to rest,

So Death ere long disrobes us all

Of what we now possess.

How sweet the name of Jesus sounds

In a believer's ear

It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds

And drives away his fear.

Must Jesus bear the cross alone

And all the world go free

No, there's a cross for everyone

And there's a cross for me.

Shall I be carried to the skies

On flow'ry beds of ease,

While others fight to win the prize

And sail through bloody seas?

Amazing grace has set me free,

To touch, to taste, to feel;

The wonders of accepting love,

Have made me whole and real.

I LOVE this song and everytime I hear it or see the video I get choked up. I saw a plaque with this sentiment years ago. Saying something like "How much do you love me Jesus?" Jesus said, "I love you this much!" spread his arms wide and died on the cross. I have looked for the same type of plaque for years and have never found another one and hate that I did not buy it when I had the chance.

Exactly what I thought of when I heard the song... "I love you this much" with arms outstretched and nail holes in His hands..... Kind of a fitting song around Easter time I think :)

Here's another song that touches my heart.... I love songs with kids in it ;)

The Dollar

daddy hugs his little man

says son I've got to go

and he pulls out of the drive and disappears

as they walk back in the house

the young boy asks his mama

where does daddy go when he leaves here

mama tells her little man

your daddy's got a job

and when he goes to work they pay him for his time

well the young boy gets to thinking

and he heads up to his bedroom

and comes running back with a quarter and four dimes

(chorus:)

and says mama how much time will this buy me

is it enough to take me fishing or throw a football in the street

if I'm a little short then how much more does daddy need

to spend some time with me

the young boy tells his mama

now I know daddy's busy

cause most times when he gets home it's dark outside

but tell him I've got me some pennies

saved up from the tooth fairy

and I keep 'em in my piggy bank and I believe there's thirty-five

(chorus:)

and mama how much time will that buy me

is it enough to take me camping in a tent down by the creek

if I'm a little short then how much more does daddy need

to spend some time with me

mama how much time will this buy me

is it enough for just an afternoon a day or a whole week

if I'm a little short then how much more does daddy need

to spend some time with me

mama takes her little man

sets him on her lap

and starts dialing up some numbers on the phone

she says daddy come home early

you don't have to chase that dollar

cause your little man has got one here at home

LDS Talk

My son's a CTR. I go to PEC.

I work for CES. I study the TG.

I read the B of M. I probe the D & C.

I search the KJV. I ponder the JST.

Today in BYC we planned for EFY.

I stayed a little after and had a PPI.

The YM and YW are putting on a play.

It is one I remember we did in MIA.

Before our oldest son went to the MTC,

He helped our BSA complete their SME.

Soon our oldest daughter is heading for the Y.

Soon our oldest clothing is going to DI.

Now if you've understood this alphabetic mess,

The chance are quite good that you are LDS.

Life Ain't Always Beautiful

Life ain't always beautiful

Sometimes it's just plain hard

Life can knock you down, it can break your heart

Life ain't always beautiful

You think you're on your way

And it's just a dead end road at the end of the day

But the struggle makes you stronger

And the changes make you wise

And happiness has it's own way of takin' it sweet time

[chorus]

No,life aint always beautiful

Tears will fall sometimes

Life aint always beautiful

But it's a beautiful ride

Life aint always beautiful

Some days I miss your smile

I get tired of walkin' all these lonely miles

And I wish for just one minute

I could see your pretty face

Guess I can dream, but life dont work that way

But the struggles makes me stronger

And the changes make me wise

And happiness has it's own way of takin' its sweet time

No, life aint always beautiful

But I know I'll be fine

Hey, life aint always beautiful

But its a beautiful ride

What a beautiful ride

How many of us let life get us down? Sometimes I think that we take too much stock with what we want in life that we can never obtain.

After talking with a friend about the disapointments and constant strife in life, I sat and thought about how much we give and give up to try to show love to another person. It may be a child, a spouse, or a friend who is struggling with something in life. And how much some are dealt more struggles than others... it may be adversity we get in life to deal with, or challanges put before us that need to be handled. I guess it depends on how we handle those things thrown at us in life, what our outlook will be.

"But the struggles makes me stronger

And the changes make me wise"

'No, life aint always beautiful...........But its a beautiful ride"

I am only speaking for myself here..... but with all the chaos, contention, dissapointments and regrets I have had in life..... I can sit back and smile remembering the happiness, the love, the laughs and pure joy I have also found along the way.

This is the first song that popped into my mind...... the "what have I done....what am I going to do....what have I given up?" frame of mind to the "what I really have" frame of mind. The blessings we are given as our "goals" in life are taken away...

I am so thankful for the blessings I have been given in life.....

There Goes My Life

All he could think about was I'm too young for this.

Got my whole life ahead.

Heck* I'm just a kid myself.

How'm I gonna raise one.

All he could see were his dreams goin' up in smoke.

So much for ditchin' this town and hangin' out on the coast.

Oh well, those plans are long gone.

[Chorus:]

And he said,

There goes my life.

There goes my future, my everything.

Might as well kiss it all good-bye.

There goes my life.......

A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later.

That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator.

Oh yeah..........he loves that little girl.

Momma's waiting to tuck her in,

As she fumbles up those stairs.

She smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear.

Sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncin' curls.

[Chorus:]

He smiles.....

There goes my life.

There goes my future, my everything.

I love you, daddy good-night.

There goes my life.

She had that Honda loaded down.

With Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American Express.

He checked the oil and slammed the hood, said you're good to go.

She hugged them both and headed off to the West Coast.

[Chorus:]

And he cried,

There goes my life.

There goes my future, my everything.

I love you.

Baby good-bye.

There goes my life.

There goes my life.

Baby good-bye.

A close friend of mine from my Army days was killed in the embassy bombing in Kenya in 1998. This song was written for his memorial service.

Bloom Where You're Planted

Words and Music by Tom Acousti

I’ve heard it said ‘when I was young he held me well’

And I can’t pretend to remember him myself

But in the story Grandma tells

‘When other men were angry and withered in the sand

My Daddy never raved and never ranted’

He just bloomed where he was planted

The story grows, how my Mom became his bride

She loved him most like the ocean where I first became

A twinkle in their eyes

When lovers were losing their diamonds and hearts

They held the cards they’d been handed

And they bloomed where they were planted

They bloomed where they were planted

Right now I’m all wrapped up

In one small patch of earth and sky

And it’s not the one I hoped for

But the sun and the soil can teach me why

If I don’t take them for granted

And I bloom where I’ve been planted

This thing he said so long ago but I have just now heard

Tonight by this bed I say a prayer

So that the world may hear his words

And my father’s wish will be granted

My Father’s wish will be granted

When we bloom where we’ve been planted

When we bloom where we’ve been planted

Sweet Cicada Pi Music and Tom Acousti have donated all potential profits from the sale of this CD to a self-perpetuating ‘Pay It Forward’ style program to honor the memory of the late, Kenneth R. Hobson II.

For every copy of ‘Bloom’ purchased, two are given away to families who have suffered the loss of a parent. The delivery of these gifts is currently facilitated by Comfort Zone Camps, the nation's largest bereavement camp for children who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver.

“Bloom Where You’re Planted was written for, and shared at, the memorial service of Army Sgt. Kenneth R. Hobson II who, while serving his country, was killed by the bombing of the US Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya on August 7th, 1998. A call came to me from Ken’s surviving widow, Debbie, three days after that terrible event took his life along with hundreds of others. I didn’t know Debbie or Ken but, as she explained, some of my music had become special to their union. She told me about their life together, the commitment they made, the family they began, and the dogs that had been left behind in the hurried departure from Kenya. Mostly, she told me about how Ken lived his life. Her story coming over the wires that night became this song – a gift to surviving daughter, Megan Hobson, who was then two years old. The day before the memorial service, it was confirmed that Megan would not remain an only child. Abbie Hobson was born on April 10th, 1999.”

I have a picture of Ken playing in the floor with my daughter when she was just a baby. I took that picture to Iraq with me in 2003.

When You Really Know a Sister

by Debra Oaks Coe Copyright 2002

When you really know a sister, know her joys and know her cares,

When you've come to understand her and the burdens that she bears,

When you've learned the fights she's fighting and the troubles in her way,

Then you'll find that she is different than you thought her yesterday.

You find her faults are trivial and there's not so much to blame

In the sister that you ridiculed when you only knew her name.

Some are quick to see the blemish in another sister's style,

Some point to all the errors and then cause a great big rile.

As you talk about the failures of the sister you don't know,

You drive away God's spirit and you've no more spiritual glow.

As you learn about her trials and you try her strengths to see,

You'll find you like her better and we'll have more unity.

If we could really know each other and heed our Savior's plea,

We'll do a lot more lifting and be much more spiritually free.

When we begin to understand and we cease to scoff and sneer,

Differences like age and status will always disappear.

You'll begin to find the virtues and the faults you cease to tell,

For you'll never hate a sister when you really know her well.

When next you start in sneering and your phrases turn to blame,

Recall the sacred covenants when you took our Savior's name.

To mourn with those that mourn is like an angel here to be

To comfort those that stand in need is divine I guarantee.

Such understanding and compassion, are not easy to obtain

You must set your mind to trying and from prejudice abstain.

For it's likely that acquaintance would your prejudice dispel,

And you'd really come to like her if you knew her very well.

When you get to know the sisters and you understand their ways,

Then their faults won't really matter, for you'll find a lot to praise.

So remember to be Christlike and concentrate on all that's good,

For we all want help and comfort; we all need to be understood.

A little poem I've known for years!

As I awoke this morning,

When all good things are born,

A little robin pearched upon my windowsill,

To signal of the coming dawn,

The bird was fragile young and gay,

And as it sing,

It brought happiness and joy into my heart did bring,

But as I paused among it's lull,

I gently closed the window,

And crushed it's little skull.

:blink::hmmm::P

I acutualy had to clean that up a little to post it here.

Nothing Else Matters--Metallica

So close no matter how far

Couldn’t be much more from the heart

Forever trusting who we are

And nothing else matters

Never opened myself this way

Life is ours, we live it our way

All these words I don’t just say

And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you

Every day for us something new

Open mind for a different view

And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do

Never cared for what they know

But I know

So close no matter how far

Couldn’t be much more from the heart

Forever trusting who we are

And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do

Never cared for what they know

But I know

Never opened myself this way

Life is ours, we live it our way

All these words I don’t just say

And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you

Every day for us something new

Open mind for a different view

And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they say

Never cared for games they play

Never cared for what they do

Never cared for what they know

And I know

So close no matter how far

Couldn’t be much more from the heart

Forever trusting who we are

No nothing else matters

Better sounding with the music to it.

Saharh Mclachlan----In the ams of the angel.

Spend all your time waiting

For that second chance

For a break that would make it okay

There’s always one reason

To feel not good enough

And it’s hard at the end of the day

I need some distraction

Oh beautiful release

Memory seeps from my veins

Let me be empty

And weightless and maybe

I’ll find some peace tonight

In the arms of an angel

Fly away from here

From this dark cold hotel room

And the endlessness that you fear

You are pulled from the wreckage

Of your silent reverie

You’re in the arms of the angel

May you find some comfort there

So tired of the straight line

And everywhere you turn

There’s vultures and thieves at your back

And the storm keeps on twisting

You keep on building the lie

That you make up for all that you lack

It don’t make no difference

Escaping one last time

It’s easier to believe in this sweet madness oh

This glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of an angel

Fly away from here

From this dark cold hotel room

And the endlessness that you fear

You are pulled from the wreckage

Of your silent reverie

You’re in the arms of the angel

May you find some comfort there

You’re in the arms of the angel

May you find some comfort here
