Could lead codices prove ‘the major discovery of Christian history’? - Yahoo! News

These date back to 1st century. They were found near Jordan. While they have no ties to the Book of Mormon, it is important to notice the objects used to write on were plates which is just more proof of people in ancient times of writing sacred texts on plates.

Well... they weren't exactly written on- the story says that they were cast, which makes sense when you see that the text on the lead 'pages' is raised rather than embossed.

I'm not sure what to think, and I certainly don't want to scream out "see!! they DID write on metal!" since so many of these types of things turn out to be fake... anyone remember the James Ossuary?

Several examples of ancient writing on plates have been found in numerous places. Dig around FARMS a bit and you'll find the articles about them.

as I stated in another thread about these recent finds, I'm not too worried about their authenticity as that is a yes/no matter. If it is determined that they are authentic, my concern is who ultimately determines what is written on them.

It would be cool if these are found to be authnetic. Altho they certainly arent the only ones to have been found.

And yes things like this adds credence to Joseph's account, certainly not proof, but there have been lots of little things like this that negate many of the "JS couldn't have translated an ancient record, because of <insert claim about ancient people>" statements and throw it back into the air.
