apexviper13 Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 As you're aware, after you're baptized you also are confirmed a member of the church and you receive the gift of the Holy Ghost meaning it will be with you as a constant companion. Since the Holy Ghost is in fact one being how is it a constant companion for everyone that's been confirmed a member of the church and has received the gift of the Holy Ghost? Quote

tubaloth Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 The Holy Ghost doesn't have a body so its not limited in the same way a physical person would be. We honestly don't know how fast a spirit can travel (but it seems like its pretty fast). Also part of it has to do with the Light of Christ. The light of Christ is more of this stuff that makes everything up. Its part of each of us, but its also part of the Sun, Moon, and Stars. (its hard for us to realize it). Because Christ made all things, and because all things have this light of Christ, it seems to be how God is connected to everybody. (I also believe through this light of Christ is how prayers are connected). God has this, lets call it radio signal, that we are all part of. Through this God can send the Holy Ghost to any one of his children. Quote
RipplecutBuddha Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 An interesting thing about confirmation that President Packer brought up recently. We aren't given the gift of the Holy Ghost upon confirmation, but we are commanded to 'Recieve the Holy Ghost'. The significance lay in the fact that the Holy Ghost may not come to us at that moment. We are still responsible through our conduct to maintain a state of worthiness and preparedness for hearing the Holy Ghost. As for the influence, I have heard it described as similar to sunlight. While the sun is a very real object quite far from us, its influence is readily experienced as one walks outside on a warm summer day, or even as sunlight enters a home through a window. If we want to feel the Holy Ghost, we have to put ourselves in a situation where we are in the proper attitude to feel it. It's always there, but we may just be in the shade, as it were. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 The old missionary discussions likened it to the sun--there's only one sun; but we can all feel it (or block it out). Quote
