lds2 Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 President Monson's talks were entitled..."Stand in Holy Places" and then he told us to "Dare to Stand Alone"...in his talks he was telling us that we will need inspiration...that there are challenges ahead for which we will feel inadequate...that we were chosen because of our strength for the "final inning"...and that we must be worthy to have the ministering of angels to make it through.***President Monson said that the tasks that lie before us will require some of Heavenly Father's strongest children...us..."God has saved for the final inning some of His strongest … children, who will help bear off the kingdom triumphantly.”We have been told (by President Eyring most recently) that when a prophet repeats himself or another prophet it is inspired. President Monson in his Priesthood Session talk quoted President Benson's talk (which President Benson gave in 1979 and repeated in 1987.) "Said President Benson: “In all ages, prophets have looked down through the corridors of time to our day. Billions of the deceased and those yet to be born have their eyes on us. Make no mistake about it—you are a marked generation. … “For nearly six thousand years, God has held you in reserve to make your appearance in the final days before the second coming of the Lord. Some individuals will fall away, but the kingdom of God will remain intact to welcome the return of its Head—even Jesus Christ. “While this generation will be comparable in wickedness to the days of Noah, when the Lord cleansed the earth by flood, there is a major difference this time: [it is that] God has saved for the final inning some of His strongest … children, who will help bear off the kingdom triumphantly.”4Why do I think that it was so amazing that he was quoting President Benson's talk? because look at the sentence that comes right after "who will bear of the kingdom triumphantly" in President Benson's actual talk...President Benson "In His Steps" March 1979, BYU Devotional"For nearly six thousand years, God has held you in reserve to make your appearance in the final days before the Second Coming of the Lord. Every previous gospel dispensation has drifted into apostasy, but ours will not. True, there will be some individuals who will fall away; but the kingdom of God will remain intact to welcome the return of its head--even Jesus Christ. While our generation will be comparable in wickedness to the days of Noah, when the Lord cleansed the earth by flood, there is a major difference this time. It is that God has saved for the final inning some of his strongest children, who will help bear off the Kingdom triumphantly. And that is where you come in, for you are the generation that must be prepared to meet your God."http://www.byub.org/talks/transcripts/devo/1979/3/devo197934-554.pdfPresident Benson was talking to people that are now in their 50s...we are the generation that must be prepared to meet our God.President Monson's October 2011 talks...Stand in Holy PlacesStand in Holy Places - general-conferenceDare to Stand AloneDare to Stand Alone - general-conference Quote

I find comfort in knowing that we have been prepared for our day...President Monson said in October Conference of 2009, ""I am reminded of the words of the Lord found in the Book of Ether in the Book of Mormon. Said the Lord, 'Ye cannot cross this great deep save I prepare you against the waves of the sea, and the winds which have gone forth, and the floods which shall come'. My brothers and sisters, He has prepared us. If we heed His words and live the commandments, we will survive..."The First Presidency told us in their letter to the Church found in the June Ensign what we must do..."This anniversary serves as a reminder for all of us to become more self-reliant...As you review this special section, we encourage you and your family to prayerfully consider and act upon self-reliance..."First Presidency letter, June 1, 2011 - Ensign June 2011 - ensign (Press "next" to take you to the next pages that The First Presidency told us to study and apply in our lives... lds2 Posted October 28, 2011 Author Report Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) Yes, but if you believe in a judgement at all then we must all be ready to meet our God, as were our grandparents and great grandparents and our children's children children. -RMHey RM!True...being a prophet I'm sure he has met the Lord since then. Some day we will be judged by Him and I assume we will meet him at that time if not before. We must all live to be ready for that day!But in the context of the paragraph that interpretation really doesn't apply here...especially as his actual words are "you...most of you."President Benson actually says, "For nearly six thousand years, God has held you...most of you...in reserve to make your appearance in the final days before the second coming of the Lord. Some individuals will fall away, but the kingdom of God will remain intact to welcome the return of its Head—even Jesus Christ. While this generation will be comparable in wickedness to the days of Noah, when the Lord cleansed the earth by flood, there is a major difference this time: [it is that] God has saved for the final inning some of His strongest…children, who will help bear off the kingdom triumphantly. And that is where you come in, for you are the generation that must be prepared to meet your God." He is talking about the Lord's return to the "kingdom of God" on the Earth If that isn't the interpretation then why would he be "returning" to it, isn't he already in the Kingdom of God in Heaven?
