prisonchaplain Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 We ran through the first 13 questions in class today, and two key differences seem to attract the most attention: 1. The Premortal Existence of Humanity. This one garnered the most "Really?" responses. 2. Salvation by Faith vs. Works. This one struck people as the most serious. Looks like LDSTalk is right on with its interfaith discussions. Quote
Guest MrsS Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 We ran through the first 13 questions in class today, and two key differences seem to attract the most attention:1. The Premortal Existence of Humanity. This one garnered the most "Really?" responses. What kind of Really? did you get. Really? how odd, or Really? I would like to know more about that?2. Salvation by Faith vs. Works. This one struck people as the most serious. PC, could you explain how serious - what kind of serious, please.Looks like LDSTalk is right on with its interfaith discussions. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted October 2, 2006 Author Report Posted October 2, 2006 A big "bone of contention" that evangelicals have--be it with Catholics, with sacramentalists (who believe salvation is transmitted through the sacraments--i.e. baptism, etc.), or with doctrinal systems that seem to emphasize works as a means of earning salvation, is that all such approaches seem to contradict the teaching that salvation is a gift, purchased by the shed blood of Jesus. As I explained in another post, me thinks this issue cannot be adaquately discussed apart from a discussion of human nature (whether we have a premortal existence or not). Quote
