Over43 Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Although Oakland and Seattle opened the season last week in Tokyo, the baseball season for 2012 gets underway in ernest this comming week. What a wonderful time of year: Conference, baseball and the Masters. (And let's not forget Easter!) I live in the Rockies' Television market so they are my adopted team, but I have always had a love affair with Oakland. And yes Moneyball should have won the Oscar. Quote
john doe Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Baseball is barely a sport. Since it's against the WOW, I can't drink enough beer to enjoy it. Quote
annewandering Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 We were in Oakland during the 'glory' years. We were lucky enough to see Vida Blue, Catfish Hunter and Rollie Fingers pitch. It was awesome! Quote

Over43 Posted May 2, 2012 Author Report Posted May 2, 2012 We were in Oakland during the 'glory' years. We were lucky enough to see Vida Blue, Catfish Hunter and Rollie Fingers pitch. It was awesome! My parents started me on about a 20 year run with baseball in Oakland. That may be why Moneyball struck a chord. (Not sure about the veracity of the accuracy, but enjoyed it...)I saw Catfish Hunter Day in Oakland with my grandpa, saw Lius Tiant pitch, George Brett and Reggie Jackson hit, and McGwire and Canseco as rookies. (Who would have known then???)I watched a guy who looked like an extra for the Sapranos put down two triple cheese burgers. So, the Okalnd Colesium has a lot of memories for me. Quote
