porterrockwell Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 I have a patriarchal blessing and a commandment from the prophet. That is all I need. "I'll go where you want me to go Dear Lord, over mountain, or plain, or sea. I'll do what you want me to do Dear Lord, I'll be what you want me to be." That is a very inspirational chorus from a hymn that speaks volumes of dedication not to what I want, but what the Lord wants, even when I don't feel like doing his Will. Also, so I am not the only one that felt like I had committed every sin in that book after reading it...even though I hadn't. Also, it made the smallest infraction seem like something I needed to talk to my bishop about. Anyway. Quote

Just focus on your goals, and stop worrying about your sins; when you focus on the negative, it breaks you down, psychologically, and keeps you from acheiving anything.Let Jesus carry the burden of your sins. That is what he came for--to LIGHTEN your burden. Just tell him that you know you are not perfect, and know that you can't be, and will he please forgive you BEFORE the fact for the sins you know you will commit. Being human you will always commit some sort of sin. There is NO perfection in this life. But keep your focus on the positive. Don't worry about what your patriarchal blessing says. The future will take care of itself if you are engaged in a good cause. REmember what JS said: paraphrasing--it is not right that you be commanded in all things, but that you be engaged in a good cause and bring about much rightousness that way, and you won't lose your reward. The good causes don't necessarily have to be directly church related. A good cause is a good cause, church related or not. Quote
