You might consider Idaho, Montana or Wyoming. They are more hunting states, and more free with their guns. But I think anything between Salt Lake and Provo would be good too if you want to live around a large (very large) percentage of Mormons.

With you on that Gwen! We would like to be near Salt Lake City area or Provo/Orem just so there's a broader range of work.

I'm from VA, so it will be a new culture for me too, not just for my Aussie husband.

Keep in mind that the Provo/Orem area is a little universe unto itself... it's even a culture shock to people from other areas in Utah.
