thebuzzard13 Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 New to the forums and I haven't found this question yet so I thought I would pose it. On the LDS standard Family Group Record, How does one list a divorce? The reason I ask is that many members of my family have been married multiple times (in and out of the temple) so I'm looking how to record this in each separate family group record. I know there are standard rules that govern other information and how to record it, i was simply wondering if there is such a standard on this form for divorce. Thanks! Quote
applepansy Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 A family group record would be completed for each marriage. There is a place to show divorce. Any children of the marriage are on the family group sheet with their biological parents. This only changes when legal adoption occurs. Quote
thebuzzard13 Posted May 6, 2013 Author Report Posted May 6, 2013 where is that place to list it? I see a marriage block and a remarks block to enter other spouses but nothing specifically for divorce Quote
thebuzzard13 Posted May 6, 2013 Author Report Posted May 6, 2013 Im asking about the hard copy (print) form that you fill in my hand or type up on the computer. Quote

Letrell Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 You list the additional marriages in the notes field. Place a number in a circle to the left of the additional spouse's name; to include a circled number to the left of the spouse up at the top of the group sheet...the husband and wife info. Ex: If you have been married 3 times and you are working on group sheet #2...with the 2nd wife listed as spouse. To the left of her name as spouse you put a circled 2. Then in her notes you write in "2nd marriage". You then list the first wife with a circled 1 to the left of her name and the 3rd wife with a circled 3 to the left of her name. That is standard, old-school, family history formatting. :) Quote
thebuzzard13 Posted May 8, 2013 Author Report Posted May 8, 2013 thank you so much for that answer. thats exactly what I was looking for. Quote
