iinarihoudai Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 I am one of those people that some would consider apostate. I am not. I have a testimony, I go to church and serve, etc. I am very much a true believer but I don't follow the molly mormon stereotype. I wonder how many people were called apostates for believing that blacks should have the Priesthood. Quote
Drpepper Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 I believe women should have the priesthood. Does that make me an apostate? Quote
iinarihoudai Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 Some would say so Dr Pepper! I think it's crazy how people throw that word around as if they know the state of someone's soul. Quote
Guest Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 And some people throw the word "should" around as if they know better than the Lord and His anointed. Quote
Drpepper Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 And some people throw the word "should" around as if they know better than the Lord and His anointed.Ouchhh, ok let me rephrase it.It would be nice, in my humble, and perhaps uneducated opinion if, women, could possibly hold the priesthood equally as men do, but if not thats ok as i don't hinge my testimony on these things. Guest Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Sorry, sore spot. I just think if and when it happens, it'll be on the Lord's timetable. Those who are trying to push it to happen now, now, now are counseling him, and then looking at those of us who see the error in that as having the greater sin for being "judgmental". It puts a burr under my saddle, is all. Quote
usun Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) Cute use of ellipses there, but leaving aside your dubious rhetorical tacticsCute? Dubious? Look up the full quote yourself. It's worse in its full context. This talk is so widely referenced it is basically LDS common knowledge. There is no need to quote the full thing; any hardcore member should already have the summary memorized. (At least that was what I thought, but given your response, perhaps I am wrong.)The point is that I consecrate my labors and learning, whatever they might be, to the Lord and His kingdom.I will do my best to make society a better place. Most often that means fighting for those who have the very least. The tides are turning. 50 years ago, a high-ranking leader of the Lord's Kingdom spoke at Brigham Young University his opinion that homosexuals infected the very premise, and they should leave immediately. Today, we have promotional materials put out by the church (with the official church logo on them) with homosexuals smiling and hugging each other and preaching acceptance toward them. Things are changing. Very quickly. Edited August 20, 2013 by usun Quote
