Misshalfway Posted February 6, 2008 Report Share Posted February 6, 2008 For those of us who are managing pornography addictions or for those of us with family members or friends that struggle, I thought I would start a thread where people could share tools, ideas, feelings, etc. that have helped them on the path to healing. I think Codep. is a big issue for some. We could discuss that too. Maybe we could discuss the 12 steps or books that are helpful. I thought also that anyone with success stories could add those here. I hope this thread will be positive. No arguing or debating please. Just sharing as we discuss what helps. I will start. One book that I have found particularly helpful is the church's manual for the 12 steps. I highly recommend that one. Even for those who are not addicts. I also love books by Melody Beattie. "The Language of Letting Go" is my favorite. My husband and I read it almost daily. It gives a quick thought for the day that helps us maintain our recovery. It has helped me deal with difficult people and painful situations. It helps me know what I can control and what I cannot. It has helped me process my pain and even learn to enjoy the process of recovery. I also know that my H loves books like "Pure Heart Clean Hands" by Harrison. And other writings by Rod Jeppson. Also a book by his wife, Colleen, "He Did Deliver Me From Bondage" is worth the read.There is also an LDS- Christ- centric 12-step group online that is devoted to helping addicts (of all kinds) free themselves through the power of Christ:Heart t' Heart, an LDS 12 Step Recovery OrganizationFollow that web link and you will find links to forums and online meetings, as well as other resources.Nothing in this world can deliver the addict from the clutches of addiction except the person and presence of Jesus Christ, Himself. Books and meetings and therapists are all GOOD THINGS, and they have their time and place -- but ultimately we must come face to face with Christ and receive His direct healing personally.
