  1. and sadly their words are also considered irreavlent by some of theire followes as well
  2. So i am wondering what are the differences and simlirates between the prophets and the popes
  3. you know i never thought of it that way but it does make alot of sense i mean reading the moral teachings of Buddha they line up very well with what Jesus taught so it makes sense that they would come from the same source
  4. oh come on Buddha was amazing and besides the biblical prophets were inspired by God the others were on their own
  5. IMHO opion Buddha is one the greates if not the greatest philophser in history
  6. gah dang u bytor using quotes to prove my baseless clames wrong ur evil xD
  7. i could be mistaken but im pretty sure it was socrates who was the first to call himself a philosopher
  8. well in all honestly im not sure they ever did i mean as the story of Augistne goes: it would be as easy for a child to count every grain of sand on the beach as it would to comprehend the Holy Trinity
  9. i read in one of the theards on the Book of Mormon forum that even though there was a four year pattern in the church it should not be followed at home because not all scriptures are equal. Im not sure if it was a prophet or just a church thelogain that said it though but its on this site. and about the four year pattern if the Old testament is studied one year then the New then the Book of Mormon then D&C. when is pearl of great price studied
  10. im just curious what does panentheistic and panthesistic mean? and thanks for all your help to you and everyone but you espeacally ive taken alot of time to help me out
  11. well as for my status on investaging the church right now im just reading the BOM and praying about it on my own. i also planing on attending church with one of my best friends and he said the missonaries wouldnt mind talking to me sometime
  12. maybe i should reword my question. Can one be a monotheist mormon because in my mind it seems that mormonism is polythesist(im not trying to sound insulting please correct me if im wrong) and i guess growing up in the christian west polytheism is a hard pill to swallow
  13. Ok i got another question is the Book of Mormon considered to be more important and greater then the Holy Bible or are the truths they teach equal. And if one condradicts the other which is considered more binding
  14. How were his teachings "spot on" from an LDS view? even early on he denied the death of Christ and he preached a very strict monotheism beliving only in one God as a single unity no Father, Son, or Holy Ghost there was only God who did not begot now was he begotton
  15. Thats my view i mean if the trinity is "3 persons in one nature" then its pluarl the very definition of the trinity says it
  16. thanks for al lthe responses guys. and btw im sorry if ive offened anyone with my questions im not meaning to its just LDS thelogy is pretty new to me
  17. thanks alot its slowy making more sense lol... so does anyone agree with my statement about the trinity "being 3 persons but one in nature" pretty much the same as LDS views of the Godhead just arguring over semantics or am i way off
  18. to me the Godhead doesnt seem that different from the trinty. "Three persons in one nature" doesnt sound any different then the LDS belife that they are separte but one in will and purpose so i can accept the Godhead being separte. What i am asking is apart from the Godhead can you be a good mormon and belive that there are no Gods apart from the Godhead? sry if im not being clear
  19. ive heard "as far as it matters to us" but my question is can a mormon belive that there is ONLY one God in the entire universe and there is only him and no other no where else is there any other God
  20. so guys i got another question. As some of you know ive been investagting the church anyway ive got over a few of the hurdles the the teaching of exhaltion makes sense now and doesnt really seem to mean we will become Gods in the sense that we are worshiped so i can handle that. Anyway here is my question can one be a mormon in good standing and still belive that there is only one God in the entire universe and that there is no other but him and he was and will always be God forever and was always God from all time
  21. ahh but what where mohammed's fruits you cant judge him by these facatics anymore then i can judge mormons by the fools who commited the mountain medaow massacre or you can judge catholics by the inquistion. now for mohammed's fruits he took a people worshiping pagan idols and turned them to worshiping one and only true God(tho with a wrong understanding of his nature ill admit)
  22. well that clears up the one part and it makes sense but how about the eternal part if God is eternal which means no begegining or ending then how could he have a father because then he would have a begining and thus would not be eternal
  23. sorry if this an old theard but i got a question if the father son and holy ghost are separte then and the Father possibly having a god then why does the BOM sometimes say they are ONE ETERNAL god(caps added by me for emphasis)
  24. just a little warning about the CC it was written by Pope John Paul II mainly for the Bishops so it is kinda of hard to read nothing too bad just dont expect it to be light reading
