  1. My home is in Minnesota. I live in a tiny house in a small woods, surrounded by fields. But at the same time, I can see the glowing Target sign and stop lights when I look through the trees. My grandparents used to live on the farm right next to us. On my mom's side, my relatives have been living in this area for generations. I live in a town of Germans. Actually, my whole county is pretty German. Housing developments are everywhere. My town has a large lake with an island. Back in the day it used to be a tourist destination. Hotel and all. Looking at the island now, you couldn't even guess. My town is a place where everybody knows each other. There's about 8,000 people in my town, but you still end up running into at least 20 people you know at the grocery store :)
  2. Hello :) I also am from the Twin Cities area! I'm not Mormon either, but am also interested.
  3. I was just wondering.. what is your favorite hymn? I love music and learning of new songs :)
  4. Thanks everybody! Oh and Maxel-- thanks for those links! I found them helpful!
  5. Actually Dr T.. I posted my last post before I even saw Maxel's post about water/communion. I'm not quite that easily persuaded. Maxel-- He might have not said "This is my wine" but wasn't he drinking it?
  6. :) Haha. Yeah I kinda get it now. But how can the Words of Wisdom only apply to times right now? I mean, if Jesus did it, then why is it sinful now? That's the part that confuses me still..
  7. This one's to Maxel-- Um.. well a big one for me was about the Garden of Eden and it's location. Missouri? I don't know.. I'm still not too sure about that one.. Another question was just about how you guys have water at communion. I understand that drinking wine would break the Words of Wisdom but I don't understand how it really represents Jesus' blood and sacrifice.
  8. I also have been praying about what to do. I've been taught that God answers prayers and I firmly believe that, because I've had many prayers answered. But somehow I was still struggling with this problem. Thank you guys for your input! I think what I really need to do is build up courage and talk to him about it!
  9. I'm 18 years old. And yeah, I do know a lot of stuff about my own church. I've actually been involved with some ministries (youth ministries and a confirmation helper). I've researched a lot about the LDS church online. I pray a lot about it too.. but pretty much everything that I've learned so far has made sense. I've had some questions in the past, but they have been answered and have made sense, too.
  10. I have a question. It's kind of stupid.. but I don't know what to do! I attend a Lutheran church, along with basically every member of my family for generations. I am interested in learning about the LDS Church but I know my dad would be very against it. He believes it's a cult. I know that if I would talk to missionaries or anything like that it would be against his wishes, and technically breaking a commandment (the 4th one I think). What do I do?
  11. As I understand it, Joseph Smith had a revelation that the Garden of Eden was in Missouri. But I also thought lds people believe that the Bible is the true word of God. How can you believe both the Bible and what Joseph Smith said, when the Bible states in Genesis that the garden was near the Tigris and Euphrates River?
