The President signed it...yes...could have vetoed...yes. Did he...no. He owns it now...and as I recall it was passed by a House and Senate controlled by the Presidents Party. But, you will find no argument here...Congress is the problem as well....but leadership matters and the President is the leader.

No...they very much influence job creation. They sign into law bills that either foster economic growth or discourage it. President Obama is not a business friendly President. Laws like the Health Care Law are punitive in nature and have a negative ripple affect through the economy. Tax policy, regulation, etc are all drivers of economic growth and bad policy makes decisions to to do business outside the US more attractive. American businesses are more de-leveraged than anytime since the 1950's. Coincidence? I think not, they fear the damage that has and will occur as a result of Obama and his progressive, statist tendencies.

Right on. And maybe as an add-on to Bytors suggestion and Tals comment is having an earned income prior to the economic bust. I am not sure Bytor thinks unemployment compensation is the same as living on the dole.

The economic bust was in 2008 and the economy has been out of recession for at least three years. While not a sturdy recovery, a recovery none the less. I didn't vote for our current President, but, whatever bust anyone is experiencing currently, he and his ilk are at fault.

When voting is cheapened by allowing masses of people that take from the producers via the dole and vote because they are promised more., large swathes of people are alienated. Limitations on the very aged is as wise as requiring an attained age and just as some citizens lose their right to vote because of felony convictions, others should not be allowed to vote if they have been living on government assistance. Oh, and identification is only common sense. Seems like asking someone to have earned income is appropriate. If you want to vote to raise taxes, then you should be paying income taxes yourself. I agree with Bytor.

Sadly, sometimes members aren't very diligent with Home Teaching or Visiting Teaching for Sisters. Are you assigned as a Home Teacher and do you visit other members? Is your wife assigned and does she visit? Do you hold the Priesthood? Are you an endowed member of the Church? Any callings? Do you attend or did you attend Gospel Principles? I often misplace my membership record, but the Ward Clerk can provide it for you....just ask and the Handbook of Instructions is on LDS.org. Odd...it is teachings of past Prophets and the teachings are usually about being clean and worthy, or having gratitude, serving others, faith etc. Pretty basic concepts... Joseph Smith did have many wives as did many others...ordained and commanded by the Lord. It was a principle based in righteousness and perhaps difficult to understand for some today. The church doesn't keep or hide anything from anyone. There are volumes of history available to anyone that wishes to read it. That said, church history is often misinterpreted and really has little or nothing to do with the Gospel. there are some that would seek to have you focus on why JS had multiple wives or (insert whatever bothers you) and while history is both riveting and sometimes confusing it is not as important as the Atonement and learning who we are and who we have the potential of becoming. Before you allow these things to derail you, schedule an appointment with your Bishop and discuss what troubles you with him. Spiritual things are discerned by the Spirit.....
