  1. Psalm 82 says: "How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked? Selah 3 Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked." If God is not speaking to earthly judges, then to whom is He speaking? Angels? Why on earth would Angels be concerned with the poor and orphans? More so than a human judge? 7 But you shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.” 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth; For You shall inherit all nations. If these unjust "gods" are not human judges, then why does it say in verse 8 "Arise, O God, judge the earth;" Why judge the earth for something done in heaven? I asked a friend of mine who speaks Hebrew (his first language) and the phrase in verse 7 is better translated "you shall die just like other men, . . ." IOW, these unjust judges, these mortal men will die like any other mortal man. Are you familiar with James E. Talmage? In his book, Jesus the Christ, he says the same thing.
  2. How old was Joseph Smith Jr. when he "figured that out"? Joseph Smith was 24 years old when the Book of Mormon was first published. I don't think he even touched on the subject of a plurality of gods until March 20, 1839 (the early Nauvoo, Illinois period). So, I'm curious to know why you would mis-characterize JS as "a young farm boy" when clearly this is not the case.
  3. That was awesome!
  4. Here's a link I hope you find useful. Christian Texts
  5. KristofferUmfrey, I am intrigued by your beliefs. I hope you won't be discouraged from sharing with the rest of us what it is you believe. How would you interpret Luke 9:49-50 ?
  6. Thanks for the quotes. You might also notice that Alma 40 does not say ANYTHING about a spirit prison with a second chance to hear the gospel. Basically, according to the BoM, after you die, you either go to a place of happiness (the righteous) or you go to a place of despair (the unrighteous).
  7. Some might say that if you only had 80% of Christ's teachings you would get 100% of the blessings because Christ's GRACE would cover the missing 20%.
  8. There is a prohibition on "priestcrafts" in the Book of Mormon. 2 Nephi 26 and when it comes to authority, ultimately it is God who chooses those who will serve Him. Even Jesus' own disciples were visibly upset when they saw others (not of their group) who cast out demons in Jesus' name. Mark 9:38-40 and Luke 9:49-50.
  9. I am confused by your statement. I thought all non-LDS had to go to "spirit prison" in order to have the gospel preached to them. Who, except for worthy latter-day saints go immediately to paradise? If you have a authoritative source (like scripture) to back up your statement, I'd sure appreciate it.
  10. I would but your avatar is too distracting.
  11. "Levi was the third son of Jacob and Leah. He stands at the head of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. The tribe of Levi was given charge of the tabernacle of the congregation. As they were not given lands as were the other tribes they will be given the privilege of offering up sacrifices to the Lord in the last dispensation. The tribe also shared in the Aaronic Priesthood named after Aaron, which is the lesser priesthood as given by the Lord when his people rebelled at the time Moses receive the first of the second set of commandments. The Aaronic and Levitical Priesthood are synonymous." WikiAnswers - What is the Levitical in the bible "This lesser priesthood (D. & C. 85:11) was conferred upon Aaron and his sons after him (Ex. 28; 29; 30; Lev. 1:11; 3:2; 13:2; Num. 18), as "an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations." (Ex. 40:15; Num. 25:10-13.) It was also conferred upon substantially the whole house of Levi who were between 30 and 50 years of age. (Num. 3; 4.) Hence it is called the Aaronic or Levitical Priesthood; the two names are synonymous. (D. & C. 107:1, 6, 10.)" LDS Library - Home
