If You Did Not Know, lds Missionaries In The News
MBASS replied to Winnie G's topic in General Discussion
Bad things happen every where. Two sister missionaries here were robbed luckily no one was hurt or raped. It was in broad daylight in SC outside their apartment. They were returning home for the day. -
oh i am so alone in the chat room...anyone care to join?!

It seems odd to me that you would serve a mission with your opinions on Joseph Smith. Isnt one of the main purposes of a mission is to convince none believers that he is a prophet, the restoration, etc. If you have such disbelief in some of these areas why go out and preach it unto others?
-
No but might as well be! 20 months and 6 months old!

Ok....I just read the BoM cover to cover for the first time. I have some questions 1. The three disciples.....are they still on earth or did they get translated? (This will prob be speculation) 2. What happened to the plates when they were translated? Did Moroni take them back? I had some more but I forgot already...oh the weary mind of a mom of two babies!

I agree Capt Tux! The site isnt necessarily evil, some of the users are! I was a myspace user keeping in touch with old high school friends and friends out of state until my husband asked me to cancel. He is wary of the internet in all cases! I never saw porno or anything similar, but alas Im not a teenager who wanders into danger so easily!

Need Help With A Competition For A Good Purpose

I voted and I think it is FANTASTIC! -
Hmmm, since you posted a similar question in a thread where you were specifically addressing me, I have to think that you're talking about me, at least in part, here again. I will just ask you to kindly go back to the '2 Problems' thread under the 'Advice' section and read my reply. In a nutshell, I don't try to convince anyone that they are wrong. Most of my discussions here are about things that are non-LDS specific. I have even been asked before to go into detail about what issues made me stop believing in the LDS church, and I declined to answer! However, if someone gives me a hard time for not believing, I may sometimes see a need to defend myself. Why come here since I'm convinced your church isn't true? Because I used to be LDS and made lots of friends here. I'm not the type of person who stops being friends with someone because we have different beliefs. :) I was not referring specifically to you. You are not hostile as some others are. I do apologize for being rude in the other thread. I was slightly irritated with a response to my post that struck a nerve and when similar advice was posted to another person, I misread it and took it personally. For that I do apologize. Trouble with these message boards...cant convey feeling through typing!

What day will I have extra money?
-
No I wont spank you! Although you probably deserve it!
-
I have a few questions. I just figure it will all get sorted out in the end.
-
Jason you are a bad boy. Quit pickin on your sister and go to time out for 15 minutes!
-
Aw Jason you dont bother me any! I think you are very peaceful in discussions! I just get irritated by some of em that cant offer any good advice without tellin everyone the main problem is they're mormon and that the religion is wrong. I dont tell anyone they're wrong to believe what the believe!
-
Well Jason I see ya there! HA HA Just Kidding! We may or may not go, thought it would be a fun adventure for the family! If we go, I'll let ya know if we make it! I'll tell ya right now though my husband isnt a big gambler an offer of a six figure he would take it!

What temples have you attended? Which ones would you like to attend? Me: 1. Columbia, SC and 2. Salt Lake, UT I would love love to attend Manti, Mt Timpanogas, Orlando, and Washington DC!

Okay the auditions for deal or no deal are coming to the litlle ole state of south carolina... my question is should my family audition?! What are the church policies on gameshows? I know your not supposed to gamble and this show seems like gambling to me. Chances are we'd never get picked anyway...but I'm curious. I know the church wont take tithing on gambled money, but is won money gambled if you didnt put any of your money in to start?! I'm interested in the responses I'll get!
-
This has probably already been discussed but.... Why are some of the ex-members so adament about convincing the others that Mormons are wrong? Some/MOst of the ex-members are peaceful and dont, but there are a few who every chance they get post that we're wrong, its not true, etc. Why come here if your convinced the church is not true? Not chastising I'm just curious!

I believe things change because the world changes. God has to make things apply to the present day people. For example....it was supposed to be God's law that the saints practiced polygamy (still something I struggle with) but when it was considered illegal that commandment changed. As far as the temple ceremony changing. The things that changed in the ceremony or that were removed are not main things. The main purpose, covenants, etc were not and as far as I know have not changed. The Gospel is always the same basic principles. Things occasionally have to be altered to fit....instead of coveting our neighbors donkey we're not supposed to covet his house or worldly things! =) Another principle that Changed is the Law of Sacrifice....you can read that it ended with the Savior's atonement. All types of things changed throughout the times and will continue to change. A question, are you praying an open ended prayer such as tell me what to do?! I find it is better to make a decision and then pray for it to be confirmed, a yes or no question. You could pray are these things true. Also ponder a minute or two before ending...thats when the answers slide in!!!! Hope this helps!

My father-in-law was Stake President at the time an official letter recieved from the first presidency stated to not withhold members from obtaining a temple reccomend for drinking coke and/or decaf coffee. If you want to get technical chocolate has caffiene in it too and I definately dont see any members refusing that!!!! I think its a personal issue. If you think soda is unhealthy and you shouldnt drink it, dont. If it doesnt bother you do. Thats my take. My in-laws think Im going to hell anyway for my diet dr pepper!

They run through church, scream, hit eachother, etc. Plus the parents dont care! I spoke with the primary presidency and they said the whole primary is like that! What is wrong with these parents?! My mom woulda beat my lil you know what if I ever thought about misbehaving at church sunday, wednesday, or any day!
