I too am going off the premise that it is parents/sibs not spouse/children.
I am also going off the premise that you had (have?) a testimony the church is true, as you did your own research before converting.
That being said, Why did you convert to a religion that you knew they wouldn't care for? Because you believed it? What has changed? What is more important to you, family or the testimony shared by the Holy Ghost?

{"Since it is possible to win one by just saying what you would like to do"}
This is not to become a president obama bashing thread????
It happened before Obama. There's several winners who have won with words. Some of them won with words when their actions said something completely different. At least O's actions haven't proved him a hypocrite.
Al Gore, Yasser Arafat and Henry Kissinger come to mind.
EDITED TO REMOVE PICS --I just felt funny posting the editorial cartoons in a thread that is NOT meant to be political.

You've got to be kidding, that anyone takes that "on the right hand" as being literally on top of the hand. Unless it was someone learning English as a second language?

If true, that's pretty awesome.

Haha, that's great, Pam :)

At age 8, it seems, a child has been processing and understands "milk". They may not get the "meat" until much later, but then (as Beefche said) getting baptized at 18 doesn't mean that they are ready for "meat" yet either. Baptism is just a starting point, a covenant to try to follow the Gospel, to ask forgiveness when you do wrong. Other covenants come later, which is why you have to be older/more spiritually advanced to have the priesthood, get your endowments and be sealed.
There is a woman in my temple prep class who is quite a lot older than me. We'll just say she is a widow after 20 years of marriage and leave it at that. She was baptized about a year ago, after 2 years or so of study, fellowshipping and missionary discussions. She has been having a hard time with some of the concepts and at times seems rather "childlike" in her understanding and beliefs.
Cons: she didn't know exactly what she was promising when she was baptized.
Pros: She has so much wonderful stuff to learn! Comforts regarding her family, regarding God's mercy and justice, regarding how wonderful it feels to go through the repentance process daily. She has been an inspiration so far, to me anyway.

I would like to use wind and solar power to slow down the earth's rotation, resulting in 30-hour days so we FINALLY have enough time in the day to get everything done.

Apple-bobbing would still be fun. If you're not afraid of a few germs. It can't be much worse than swimming in a pool with other people..
Actually it could be; unless you've got chlorinated apple water. Plus, then you eat the apple that has been floating in the water that everyone's been putting their mouth, nose, hair in, possibly even eating an apple that was in someone else's mouth for a while. It's amazing what chlorine can do to keep a pool clean.

There's no way it's a real picture. Has anyone here ever met a woman that had a bigger head than pelvis? Bigger hands than butt? Aerodynamics would result in her falling over when whe tries to walk.
Here's another ad I was told was with the same model.

A good one is having a kiddie pool full of sand and letting the children dig for treasures.
Modified to change "did" to "dig"

I was shocked in my senior year of high school when my Spanish teacher insisted chocolate milk and hot chocolate were the same thing. I had never heard of making hot chocolate with milk before that. The directions on my packages of H.C. said "water."

You've seen those big-headed puppy pictures, right? That's what this made me think of. Also a Bratz doll. I don't see why anyone took that picture seriously.

Connie, I think you beat me, but I can't see a picture, just text....Did you mean it to be type?

I'm glad that they've cleared her of wrongdoing. When I heard that she was accused of trying to sell the baby, I got pretty mad. What kind of mother does that? I know they exist, sadly.
Now, if they hadn't been in a rush, and she had been they type to sell her kids, how do you think everyone would feel (particularly the officials) if those kids had disappeared in the last 2 days while they investigated?
I hope whomever made the allegation does get punished though. Otherwise there are tons of people who will make tons of allegations for petty revenge type reasons.

Alana, I love the bathroom.

OK, favorites; and I didn't see these ones posted already
Jordan River, because that's where my family was sealed when I was a kid and I loved it.
Vernal, UT, because it has history and I did a lot of baptisms for the dead there; my claim to fame is that I was there with family names the day after dedication; 7th person into the font that day.
And the Albuquerque Temple, because that's probably where we are going to get our sealing.
Though I'm still holding out for Manti... it was a favorite when I was 13 or so, and still holds a special place in my heart.

I had a problem with it in high school too, when our faculty was discussing it. I was against for two reasons: money (we weren't very well off and I wore a lot of hand-me-downs) and because I had seen some pics I shouldn't have seen about sexy schoolgirls.
Well, I also had a problem wearing any skirt that I couldn't put pants underneath, as we had a skirt-flipping problem in my school.
