  1. If there is still electricity I would say a VitaMix machine. Does everything you need from ice cream to hot soup. And easily mills grain.
  2. Well Im not a Mormon but I can say this. Always tithe. You will never be able to out give God. Thats not the reason to give but it is true. He will always give you more than your offering. He is sufficient. He knows what you need before you ask. He does not have bad in store for you. And I ask Him not to provide every meal you will ever need and that you will be able to provide a meal for a visitor in need.
  3. These are great posts. Thanks for taking the time on them. I am doing the same thing. I just left a post saying basically the same thing. As I stated there, I am also adding a bit of diatomaceous earth. Food Grade only. For added protection from the little bobs that may have been in the beans or whatever. Just a note for the frugal minded people. Check the flea markets or yard sales for sealers. I find them all the time. But I do want to save up for one of those nice ones you are talking about. I do have one question. Do you just guess at the amount of oxygen absorbers? I saw an attempt at a calculation but it was so difficult to understand I just gave it up.

    Dried Milk

Hi everyone. I just bought a case of mylar bags and a few hundred oxygen absorbers. I also use a bit of Diatomaceous earth in everything I store. Food Grade only. In fact I take a tablespoon full in juice every morning also. But I store food like beans and such by putting it in a big stainless bowl and then sprinkle about a teaspoon of DE in and mix it till i see some on everything. That way if there are any little tiny guys in the beans with will have a difficult time thriving in the DE. Then I vacuum seal it in the bag and label it. I even do that with things like flour and other powdered things. Even pasta. Since its food grade I can eat it no problem or in the case of pasta it will just come off in the water and wash away. But, it will protect the food while stored. Does anyone have any opinion of this method? Its not scientific, just something I thought up. I would appreciate any ideas on making this better.
