  1. My husband and I got married civilly in October 2009, and we are going to get to the temple sometime this year. Since we have already gotten married, do we need to bring a certified copy of our marriage license? Also, is there anything else that we need to bring? I did not grow up in the church, so just trying to cover all the bases.
  2. I converted in July 2009--I was 23. I was baptized on July 11 and confirmed on July 12. I began taking Missionary lessons in April and shortly decided that this religion was where I wanted my life to begin. I wasn't into necessarily "bad" things, but worldly things--drinking, hanging out with the wrong people--but I never got into trouble. I graduated with my B.S. degree in Sociology in August of 2008 and had no desires of going back to school. Since being baptized, I have enrolled in a Master's program and have gotten a pretty decent job. I have devoted my life to bettering myself and surrounding myself with the gospel. My husband and I have not yet gotten sealed in the temple, but I know that it will be soon, and I am especially grateful for the blessings that come along with that!
  3. My husband has been following this issue quite closely. He visits infowars.com on a daily basis and found this article relating to the patdowns: TSA Gives Rapists And Illegals The Green Light While Groping Children Every article that I have read in regards to these Body Scanners states that they actually are a Naked Body Scanner giving the TSA agents a full and explicit view of everything. Though some people may believe that the pat downs do not violate the Law of Chastity, there is something that states that heavy petting violates that law. Any contact with the genitalia fits into that category. The fact that the TSA agents aren't performing background checks on their own employees is extremely distrubing. Would you want some sexual offender groping and feeling up you or your children, or even looking at your naked body on the body scanners.
  4. I'm honestly not quite sure exactly what he wanted me to do. My husband and I are trying to get into the Temple at some point in the near future, so I don't know. That's why he assigned the Personal Progress to me. Thanks for the quick response!
  5. Hi all, I am 24 and have only been in the Church for a little over a year. My Bishop assigned me to complete the Laurel Section of Personal Progress, and since I have never done Personal Progress before, I'm a little confused about what exactly I'm supposed to do. Please help!!! Thank you!
  6. My husband is currently repenting for not obeying the Law of Chastity. I am a convert and we have only been married for 7 months--everything that happened occurred before we were married and before I converted. One of my main concerns is that he also has a problem with alcohol use and drug use, and am worried that he may get excommunicated for not being completely upfront and repenting for everything. He says that once the repentance for sex outside of marriage is finished, he will tell the Bishop that he needs to repent for everything else. Should he be repenting for everything, or am I just being silly? Again, I'm new to this--only been in the church for about 10 months.
  7. I have only been in the Church for a little less than a year, but my husband was raised in the Church. He went through some rough times before we even knew eachother and stopped going to Church. People were very excited to see him back! If I were in your situation, I would not partake of the Sacrament until I had a meeting with the Bishop; he may ask to have a few meetings with you to see how you are coming along with cutting out those bad things, and will tell you whether or not to take the Sacrament. Don't worry about being accepted, people will just be happy to see you back and most likely won't even ask any questions about your absence. Hope this helps!
