  1. I'm sorry, but what didn't this person "get" by asking that ex-communicated member every week to pray? And what did everyone else in the room know?
  2. Oh this is funny. I basically just asked Suzie the same question, right before getting to your reply below.
  3. Do you mean he points at someone? If so, doesn't that mean like half a dozen people are mouthing "ME!?" back at him? :)
  4. So, whose responsible for asking members to give the opening and closing prayers for sacrament? And are they usually asked right before sacrament or days in advance or what?
  5. Hmm. What falls under "personal preference" you think... my wanting a cape? on back of mine or something? I totally don't know if my slight alteration would be normally priced or higher. I almost feel like I'm calling some companies customer service now - every phone call they give me a different answer. :)
  6. Hmm. I wonder why she quoted me that outrageous price?
  7. I see. I just think it wasn't right though. I asked people in my ward if it would be possible to have only people in my ward at my endowment, but they said whoever was waiting for an endowment would be able to come in. I NEVER would have dreamed of asking someone to wait for another session or anything like that. I may have secretly hoped they'd not come, but I never would have said anything out-loud. And now that I looked back on it, it was a good feeling to have the endowment room full of people and to slightly look back and see them bringing in additional chairs.
  8. I'd love to know his reasoning too. He was in his early 20s I think. I could get in contact with them I think if I tried. I mean I remember the session and time. In reality they'd maybe not tell me and just contact his Stake Pres. or something. You REALLY got me thinking now, I'd looooove to hear his answer.
  9. I think maybe I WILL report it. What's funny is I walked right past him yesterday and smiled at him. I have good memories of him, he gave me that talk about garments and just happened to be the person on the other side of the veil when I was endowed.
  10. After the prayer circle thing, seeing like 6 or 7 of them squeezed on one couch just seemed all the more "special" to me... like they were all sitting on a bench at a national park or something for a picture. :)
  11. What thing are you saying I should report? They weren't loud at in the Celestial Room though. The thing that got me was him saying what he said to me. Nobody else in the endowment room seemed to have any idea of what he said. I wondered was he going to sit down when he had that option at that "certain" moment, but he didn't. It did bug me though. I wasn't constrained by time and decided to stay longer. I did some sealings and then went to another endowment. I really didn't want to end my Temple visit with that experience being the last thing that happened there. During my own endowment they had to bring in more chairs. A nice group of people came from my ward and another sister was being endowed also, didn't know her. I was talking about the Celestial Room with someone a couple days later and they said, "... it's not normally like that in the Celestial Room, it was like a party." I don't remember it being loud or anything there though, but there was over 50 people in there, closer to 60 I bet. I'm SO not the type to report things, but if you suggest it, maybe I will.
  12. A few months ago I posted about the cost of garments because I was going to be endowed. Now I am and recently called the church's number and asked about custom garments. In my old post I think someone said they costed twice the price of typical garments, but the customer service person seemed to look thru a manual of some kind and said custom garments were $30 each. COME ON!!! I asked because my shoulders are a tad wide, so my garment tops fit everywhere else fine, but could be a bit wider on my shoulders. She just suggested I step up one size and try that out and that I could order some tops and they'd just cut off some of the bottom of the tops - I'm a little shorter than average. She said they'd be no charge for that. But really, $30 for custom garments?
  13. I'm not sure if it's wrong to talk about this, so if I'm wrong, I'm sorry and I'm sure someone will let me know. I was recently at the Temple and the first row in the endowment room appeared to be full of young adults and figured they were all together. I was the only person NOT in their "party." After the officiator asked for the witnessing couple to get up, he then asked for, I think, 3 other couples, so I thought I'd wait to see how many men got up. 2 others got up, so I thought, "hey, they need one more" so I got up as well. After a couple seconds another guy decided to get up and a few seconds later stepped close and said, "we're all a family and would like only us in this circle...." I nodded and was going to sit down, but then the officiator said they needed about 3 more women, so I stayed there. By-the-way, a girl in their "party" was being endowed. It took what seemed like a couple minutes for the women to show up, but it felt uncomfortable by what they guy said to me. One of the women seemed friendly and just looked at me and smiled. The guy who said that to me seemed a bit odd, he seemed hyper. After we sat down I noticed that he just seemed like a jumpy person. He even acted a little "different" in the Celestial Room as well. And all of them were playing something like musical chairs in the Celestial Room... 6 of them squeezed on one couch, then one going to another seat, followed by another person squeezing in on the couch. Is that some kind of thing that people do in the Celestial Room??? Ps. I've really appreciated the warm replies you guys have given me about this post and odd experience.
  14. "2.5 men," I've seen that show before, but don't remember the names of the character. I really don't get why that show is so popular. I loved Charlie Sheen in "Wall Street" and a couple other movies, but his tv show.... I watched because initially I thought his girlfriend was cute, I'm a lover of brunettes, but to keep seeing her oh so fake chest turned me off.
  15. I'm confused by your post. I think the person that suggested an extra shirt is a member. What is the silliest thing you ever seen... a person wearing an extra shirt or a guy mowing his grass in his garment top? Whiteness of your garment top? Do you mean that a person can see that you have them on underneath your clothing? I can see a woman's garments underneath their clothing all the time. It happens so much that I just assume it's not bad.
  16. I'm not sure how I sounded, but I'm not really concerned about that person showing the lace in back. I'm not the uptight LDS and don't stop talking to someone because they don't appear to follow all the "rules" or whatever. :) Once we had a girl, a visitor, that wore a top with straps and hard tattoos on her. I DID assume she wasn't a member, but I went directly over to her after sacrament and found out she IS a member and just, to quote her, "I just love my ink." I've heard that some people don't talk with people that don't fit into the main-stream in a ward.
  17. Thank you for this, but your 3rd paragraphed losted me.
  18. I've seen her really looking at my hands a couple times when I've talked with her. I'm not sure of why she did, but she did. I've had girls and guys tell me that I have nice hands, so maybe she feels the same way or somethin.'
  19. No way would I try to hold her hand. I mean, not unless she was to totally open up and we really hit it off. I really doubt that. When others in the ward talk about her, most comment on how quiet she is. The teacher picked her row to read some scripture and when she read she was soooo quiet. I'm not going to comment on feet. She had the cutest shoes on yesterday... cute toes, too. :)
  20. The part that concerns me about a person is when/if I feel I'm putting pressure on them. I really don't like doing that. But, I'm hoping that she'd just not deal with me if she felt that way. She went on a mission to a foreign country, so I could always get her to talk about that.
  21. Oh ok, I wasn't getting that.
  22. Some styles/fabrics DO look like normal t-shirts.
  23. I think I get what you're saying, but can you rephrase the part about, "Women should wear clothes that cover where the garmets would be if they were not dressed."
