  1. okay, the hair on my neck just stood straight up! I think I'll wait for new years eve to check out the you tube though.... have a merrry christmas everyone and thanks for sharing
  2. The book Patriots really made me uncomfortable on sooooooooooo many levels. I couldn't put it down! It was liking watching a train wreck... you being an EMT I know you understand that! lol Being a nurse aide you get used to seeing people suffering, but that book felt so real, it scared the heck out of me and I immediately ordered sutures, aspirin and extra dog food. I thought it would be the usual good christians against the bad guys, but it really opened my eyes to the horrors of anarchy. The fact that they were so well prepared was awsome. Although the "training" and sitting outside on "watch" would have killed me .... they were like navy seals! I grew up knowing about survivalists but I really was ignorant. I hope more books like this come out to help us take off our rose colored glasses. Even if only 1% is true GOD HELP US ALL! wishing you a merry christmas and a healthy new year. This week I am pretending all is well! ;-) linda
  3. Hi, I agree that I would not kill for pudding; but honestly if you read the Patriots book as I have done it makes me think that maybe i would kill to save the lives of those with me. Many times in the old testament we read of God's people killing. Even today we send soldiers out to do just that. God commands we obey the governing laws and our rulers and this always confused me a bit....I'm torn between a soldier killing the enemy of his country and murder. Bottom line is the same, but I think Intent of the heart enters into it. God will always have a remnant of His people, maybe those that will survive will have a gun but be protected and not have to use it. I pray God gives me His courage and wisdom to hear His voice when and if I am in that situation. It really makes you think though....wishing you and all and very merry CHRISTMAS.
  4. thanks for sharing....I am reading "the Patriot".....wow.............now thats prepared! Merry Christmas
  5. Your awsome! Thanks you so much. happy holidays linda
  6. wow, thanks so much for sharing this information! I think I can get a large bag at local garden center. Wishing you a very happy thanksgiving. linda
  7. Awsome! Thank you again. I'm going to get right on this one. linda
  8. hi, thanks for sharing about the hand warmers. i was not sure if these were "food safe" products. i totally agree that a few pennies spent on absorbers and being able to sleep at night are worth it. I was wondering even just how safe the absorbers are. I've found out over the years that "natural" is not always healthy. But, limited resources and knowledge of food storage I just go with the general consensus. Happy Holidays
  9. Wow, very interesting! Thanks for sharing! I didn't think it made much sense why the mfr. would not know how their own product worked. So much to learn and so little time. Have a great thanksgiving.
  10. thank you for sharing that info. I had read in blogs that the absorbers will activate immeditely (within 5 min. of exposure to air). So I put everything into the mylar bags first. Then I put absorbers in and rush like crazy to close all the bags up! :-) I guess I am just a suspenders and a belt type person. A little over kill. I've only been doing this for a year so I'm always looking for experienced help. Have a great holiday!
  11. remember water is HEAVY! If you get large 55 gal barrel it is Not moving! Be sure to get the hand pump to get the water out! You get what you pay for. Buy the best you can afford. If you can't afford barrel...........get the mylar bags emergency essentials has them. they have a "plug" only a few gallons. Put in a cardboard box to store many. re usable
  12. I bought some praying mantus eggs and let them hatch also lady bugs love them! can order on line
  13. You just break my heart! Please, above all JUST TRUST GOD! HE WILL ALWAYS PROVIDE ANGELS TO HELP THOSE WHO LOVE HIM. Yes, many of us are going hand to mouth and just making it. Yet, we are the fortunate ones...really. Don't dwell on the worries of tomorrow because it may not come. I suppose cancer helps you put things in priority. Only consider those things that you as a human can control. you will find it isn't much! The rest you MUST rely on GOD. I will be praying for comfort and wisdom for you and your family. God will meet your needs, not necessarily our wants. Just do what you can in the day and rest in the Lord. Love your family, share your feelings...talk about things that matter. The children will know your stressed and feel powerless. Show them where to gain strength. Don't have a spirit of fear. Its energy wasted. You don't gain one minute of peace by worrying. honest! wishing you peace
  14. i use my iron. you can suck out most air with your vacuum cleaner or as some sites say with a straw...NOT.........if its fine powder cover with paper towels first. I use strong paper Clasps not paper clips to hold close while i iron. I always use absorbers
  15. GLASS, CANS and clean the toaster crumbs.....don't give them anything to eat! Plastic if you must, but lids not reliable and then there are those toxins. I have used bay leaves for years and here in florida have we got BUGS...big bugs....ugly bugs..............yuk snakes and scorpions too....where did i move to???
