He wasn't an art teacher, we just happened to get into a conversation since I was early. But I am agreeing with those who say we don't know and it doesn't matter. I guess I had been going only by pictures. By the historical art, I think he was refering to....those pictures in caves that came before writing. I don't remember what they are called. I didn't realize this would turn into such a long conversation. Either way I agree with those of you who have empathized that it doesn't matter. I guess I had just been going by pictures.

I guess we don't know. It is more the way they were saying it, as in believing that the first people weren't white (with no reference to Adam and Eve) instead of Adam and Eve being the first people. Still seems strange because all the pictures are of them with white skin. All the ones I've ever seen anyway.

Not that it matters to me, but having something to say to others would help. Yet if I say it doesn't matter, then won't they think I am agreeing? Even if I say I disagree, sometimes it seems people think I am agreeing or something like that when I end the topic.

I have a non-member teacher who I take two clases with. Between them the other day he was saying that because of historical art architecture, the first people were darker colored skin. He knows I don't agree but I had no idea what to say. I private messages to another non-member friend and told her what he said. She apparently believes him and sent me a link which I haven't read yet. So how to I reply to these people? Thank for your help.

Hopefully some of you will have some answers for me. People talk about needing to fast for something specific. I don't have anything specific that I haven't been praying about for as long as the situation exists. Although I do admit there are things I shold focus more on my prayers. I will also be the first to admit that I always end up giving in and eating. And it is the hardest commandment for me. Any advice to make it easier? I might ask for a blessing (although that will have to be for the next fast Sunday.)

Keep praying and reading your scriptures. It will get worse if you don't.

So is self-confidenced based more on a specific accomplishment and self-esteem on the person themself?

Is it at all possible that your name was spelled wrong, sort of like in family history where you have to check alternative spellings? Have you ever had used a diffferent name? Or maybe they can try checking a middle name, checking your parents records and seeing if if a child is listed. I do know someone that this happened to. I only know it one of the RS teachers, if I find out who I will see if she has any advice. No promises though that I will figure out who it is ( I only remember an RS teacher mentioning it happening to her) or that she will be able to advice on what she did. Either way, try to hang in there and know that Heavenly Father knows you are a member.

Congratulations on your decision. Know that satan will try to stop you (opposition) but Heavenly Father is going with you. Contacting the missionaries is a good idea. But if you don't want to do that, then just go. You can find someone to sit with who is sitting alone. Find something to compliment them on if you want to start a conversation. Or just introduce yourself if asked. Either way, just go. I hope you will let us know how it goes.

What is self-confidence as opposed to self-esteem? With God all things are possible, so why is self confidence a good thing? Because we need Heavenly Father to do anything, right? Is self-esteem closer to pride? I have heard that before but what do you think? Gaining self confidence would be done by recognizing our strenths but we don't have strenth in anything unless it is given to us by Heavenly Father. Any thoughts on this matter? PS-Forgive any mispellings. The spell checker says it only works with internet explorer, which I have. And it is past 10:00 at night and I am too tired to figure it out now. Too tired to think really and am getting ready for bed after this.

I work at a school and what upsets me is that if someone were vegan there would be nothing they could get. Even in the salad bar, they have to get cheese or meat. What about vegetarians and vegans? What about those on gluten free/casiene (speling?) free diets? Or other allergies? If there is no control over what the kitchen utensils touch, then won't the number of allergic reactions go up? I support home lunches. And I wouldn't be surprised if, even though the school lunches look like they have all the food groups, they also have a lot of sodium.

HEP, Are you saying they are here for other reasons than for humans? I didn't put the last one who was suffering to sleep. Do you think pets feel anger in their heaven? And I still am not sure about the one now. If only he would stop eating, taking treats, and drinking the decision would be a lot easier. I'm going to go see what else people talk about here. It looks like a good group and so far I am glad I joined.

I having a pet put to sleep right or wrong? He still eats and drinks. He takes treats from me. But that is all. No playing and only a little moving around. If he weren't eating it would be an easier decision but since he is still eating, that makes it harder. Is there an LDS belief on it that says yes or no? I should add that he is a pet gerbil. So he was very inexpensive (the result of an accidental litter) and if I had taken him to the vet at the first sign of the problem, it would have costs a lot more than he did. So I do feels some guilt in that. I have been giving him pain medicine and will continue to do so. He looks like he will sleep all the time. But he stands up to say hi to me and look around at times. Yet the tumor looks so bad, it is like an open wound covering his stomach. I don't have the stomach to look at it.
