  1. I know of a great missionary who wouldn't be frightened by you. Lol I can give you his facebook if you like, or give him yours. He loves talking to new people. And Denise it's great you are listening! If you ever want to talk pm me! I'm a convert myself!
  2. Perhaps you should contact your bishop and let them know. They may not have heard the news.
  3. Perhaps you are looking at this the wrong way. I'll give an example. I'm a convert, baptized three years ago. At my year mark, I was ready to go on my mission. Got everything squared away mostly then I realized I forgot about a medical bill. I had to pay it off before my mission. So I kept at it started paying it off waiting and hoping I'd go on my mission soon enough. Then I was ready TWO months and I would have been gone. Then I met Isaac. We got sealed in the temple eight months later. Things do not go the way you want or even expect them. Don't think of it as the church saying no to your son, think of it as God trying to guide your son to someone who needs him now where he is. There are missionairies that are fluent in three languages and get a mission call one state over that's English speaking. We don't know the ways of the Lord. We aren't supposed to. We are just supposed to figure out what his will is. And your son is NEEDED where he is. He just needs to find out why.
  4. You are right! I'm tired and have been out all day helping people in the Atl Snowpocalypse. I should rephrase that Heavenly Father knows what's best for us even if we can't comprehend it. It's all about faith. Thanks for the compliment as well. :)
  5. Essentially, at least for me, it isn't the addiction that they are holding over your baptism. It is that they are waiting to see if you are willing to be obedient to the laws of the Lord. Obedience is essential whether its sacrificing your son or stopping smoking. Abraham went decades without children and when he is finally blessed with one, he is commanded to sacrifice him. What we want is second to the will of the Father. So if one wishes to obey the laws of the Lord, they will be blessed with the Holy Spirit to comfort them and help them. Members will encircle them. Just because someone is not baptized doesn't mean they are not friends and unsupported. By the time I was baptized I had moved in with members and was already titheing. Baptism is such a personal and special thing. You know when you are ready. When you came here you knew there would be trials and temptations, but you came anyway. Once you are baptized anything and everything you had done is washed clean. It is up to you to remain clean, because normally you don't get a second baptism. When you are baptized, you are a representative of Jesus Christ and are agreeing to live within the laws of the Father. If you aren't ready, you know it. Never be baptized because of something other than your own pure intentions and sincere heart. You shouldn't go back on your convenants, but there is always repentance for that. Just do your absolute best, God will know where your best stops and he will carry the rest of the weight for you. If you are earnestly trying to live within the standards set forth then you will be taken care of. If you'd reach out to the Presidency, they would help. Joining the church isn't really about a good or bad time. If you know in your heart it's true, you get the fuzzy feeling or feel the Holy Ghost then you are already half way there. By choosing to not obey once you know the church is true you are only stealing blessings away from yourself. I know, I've been there. It wasn't worth it. Take all the time you need. But you know the moment you realize it, and God knows when you know. Lol The blessings outweigh the hardships, I promise you.
  6. I know Christina Agulaira (I slaughtered the last name) was raised mormon. And Napolean Dynamite! Thomas S Monson obviously. Elder holland. That's all I got. Lol
  7. We, right now, as children of a Heavenly Father who have no memory of our pre-existence cannot truly understand the ways of Him who sent us. For if we understood completely the plan and knew of its surety then we would not act in faith. A loving father would never have us do something we believe to be wrong, but who is to say what our exalted selves will know and even understand? BusyB, if you can say out loud that you know the church is true and feel in your heart the validity of that statement, then everything else is details. Once you have an exalted perfect mind and body you'll probably experience love in a way you never have. You won't feel jealousy or envy, love will be perfect and selfless, the way it was meant to be. I know it's a lame answer, but God will sort it all out. All of it. You have to have faith in that. There are things that tear at me that I don't understand, but when I bear my testimony I know the church is true and I go on faith that my Heavenly Father will explain everything when that time comes. I'm a newly wed college student, I don't need all the answers to the universe. I will know, one day. And that's all I need. I have tons of questions, and I've only been a member for three years so if you want to talk, pm me. I understand.
  8. My husband and I spent ALL of yesterday towing people out of ditches and up hills, pushing cars, directing traffic, and giving rides. We have a 4x4 tacoma with mud tires. Then we spent all day today handing out food and water to stranded motorists on 285. Some of those people had been stuck in their cars for 24 hours!! In Georgia you can get away with bald tires all year UNLESS it ices. And might I add that no one knew how bad it would get, they weren't even sure it would stick! Luckily my husband was born in Idaho and owns icy roads but even we had some problems getting home at 1am. Emergency is pretty gone now though. They're calling it the ATL Snowpocalypse. So happy it's over.

    Hello!

I don't have a problem understanding the Book of Mormon, this thread was more so to ask for advice on introducing the LDS religion to my family. As I said, missionaries came to my home and they came by again today and answered a lot of my questions and also shared a lesson with me. I feel this is true and have decided to join the church but I'd like to finish the Book of Mormon first. My parents did not encourage open minds frankly. I'll talk to my missionaries about speaking with my family. Thank you for your help!

    Hello!

My name is Sarah and I have been recently considering joining the Mormon Church. Missionaries came to my home last week and I went to the YSA this past Sunday and liked the feel of it very much. I guess I'm just here looking to see if anyone would be interested in having a new friend. I'm very interested in joining, I just fear that my family wouldn't understand, as they are all Baptist or Nondenominational and do not view the Mormon church with any weight. I've been reading the Book of Mormon and besides the liberal use of the words 'And' and 'Yea' I like the message of it very much. I've not gotten far, but I am reading it. Does anyone have any advice on how I could ease the subject or anything that may be of some help? Thank you! -Sarah (I moved this from the Introduce Yourself forum because I only received one response. )
  11. Then you realize you won't get any sleep for a long time. XD

    Hello!

The only problem with that is my mother, who I am primarily worried about, lives 300 miles away. I moved away about two years ago and live where I do now. So I'm sort of detached from my family, and I can only see them freaking out and over reacting about all this. /sigh
