  1. "LIFE'S RAILWAY TO HEAVEN" Arranged by W.S. Stevenson (As recorded by Patsy Cline in 1959) Life is like a mountain railroad With an engineer that's brave. We must make the run successful From the cradle to the grave. Watch the curves, the hills, and tunnels. Never falter, never fail. Keep your hand upon the throttle, And your eyes upon the rail. Blessed Savior, Thou will guide us Till we reach that blissful shore Where the angels wait to join us In that great forevermore. Blessed Savior, Thou will guide us Till we reach that blissful shore Where the angels wait to join us In that great forevermore.

  4. "FINLANDIA" Composed By: JEAN SEBELIUS VERSE # 01: On great lone hills, Where tempests brood and gather, Primeval earth Against primeval sky, We faring forth, Possessed by fervent longing, Have found a throne, Eternal and high; Have knelt at last In silent adoration As fire and whirlwind Have all gone by. VERSE # 02: With ardent song, We greet the golden morning, By faith upborne, Remember not the night. The whole world 'round, Triumphant, Hails the glory. God walks abroad In garments of might. The hills, behold, Are now a path of splendor, Transfigured all, And all crowned with light!
  5. Theme song from the Hollywood motion picture production, "EXODUS" Music by Ernest Gold, Lyrics by Pat Boone "EXODUS" This land is mine. God gave this land to me, This brave and ancient Land to me! And when The morning sun Reveals her Hills and plains, Then, I see a land Where children Can run free! So, take my hand And walk this land With me, And walk this Promised Land With me. Though I am Just a man, When you are By my side, With the help Of God, I know I can be strong! So strong, To make this land A home. If I must fight, I'll fight to Make this land Our own. Until I die, This land is mine!
  6. "HATIKVAH (THE HOPE) " VERSE # 1: So long as deep in Judah's heart An ancient emotion still arose And Judah, haunted by the East, Gazed upon Zion, unredeemed: CHORUS: Not all lost then, was our hope, Our proud hope, so old, yet new. Free men to dwell In the land of our fathers, The tower of David, The vales of our home. VERSE # 2: So long as pilgrims at fathers' graves, Joyful, entreating, rained their tears, And poured out their woe On temple stones While Jordan flowed from Gallilee: VERSE # 3: So long as freely flowed our blood, Nations would Judah bleed and spoil, And dew drops fell on the fathers' rest And God, Him repented of His wrath: VERSE # 4: Oh, hear my brothers, still in exile, The clear ringing voices of your brothers. Whenever the last Jew shall expire, Then, only, shall perish our undying hope.
  7. "EL SHADDAI" Composed By: MICHAEL CARD and JOHN W. THOMPSON CHORUS: El Shaddai, El Shaddai, El, El yonna adonai, Age to age, thou art the same By the power of thy name. El Shaddai, El Shaddai, Er kahmka na adonai, We will praise and lift thee high, El Shaddai. VERSE # 1: Through thy love and through the ram, Thou saved the son of Abraham. By the power of thy hand, Thou changed the sea into dry land. To the outcast on her knees, Thou wast the God who really sees, And by thy might, Thou hast set thy children free. VERSE # 2: Through the years, thou made it clear That the time of Christ was near. Though the people could not see What "Messiah" ought to be. Though thy Word contained the plan, They just could not understand Thy most awesome work was done Through the mission of thy Son.
  8. Brethren and Sistren: When I was twenty-one years old, as a convert to The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints, I was baptized on Saturday 06 May 1967. Today, there have been so many changes in our Church (as in all other churches), that my personal faith is FREQUENTLY shaken to the very core by the pronouncements and/or actions emanating from Salt Lake City, Utah. Indeed, my faith is further challenged by what has become of our beloved "Promised Land", the United States of America. Unlike so many others, I do NOT separate Church and State, as within our unique religion, the miraculous history of the United States of America, along with our divinely inspired Constitution of the United States of America, and even the State of Israel, are inseparably intertwined with The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. Thus, when there is corruption in one, there becomes corruption in all of those entities. So, what do I do in this situation? I turn to JOHN 6: 66 - 69, and follow the example of Peter. Thank you.
  9. "RIDE THE LAUGHING WIND" Words and Music by: JOHN ROBERT "SAIGON" MALLERNEE Jensen, Utah Thursday 28 February 2002 VERSE # 1: I hear the haunting song of lonely coyotes. I see an eagle circling in the sky. There's a dust cloud moving on a distant mesa, For the spirits of the Old Ones never die. CHORUS: Kachina spirits, ride the laughing wind! Please lead me to eternal teachings true. As I ever wander through this Indian nation, I'm relying for my guidance upon you. I'm relying for my guidance upon you. VERSE # 2: In the rugged hills of western Colorado, Where Utah and Wyoming touch the sky, The Old Ones left, but we can read their story In ancient petroglyphs for modern eye. VERSE # 3: The Son of God once dwelt among these people. He taught them truth, but they soon fell away. Yet, the spirits of the Old Ones are still with us And Kachina laughter echoes every way. BRIDGE: Kachina, I have felt your presence. Kachina, I heard your spirit voice! Kachina, we'll ride the breeze together. Kachina, I know why you rejoice! VERSE # 4: In the distant cowboy's high and lonesome country, Where the Western sun shines on a rancher's land, Eternal ways of truth are shown among us, Brought forward by a laughing spirit band. FINALE: Kachina! Kachina! Ride the laughing wind! Inspired by the novel, "RIDE THE LAUGHING WIND", by Blaine and Brenton Yorgason, and suggested by Stan Wheeler.
  10. "JESSE'S HYMN" Words and Music by: JOHN ROBERT "SAIGON" MALLERNEE Monday 29 September 1997 Saint Anthony, Idaho VERSE # 1: From Heaven above, We come to this life. Of royal descent, We're babes in the wood. We're taught and we're tried By rigors and strife, And if the chance comes, We do the World good. My heart is breaking. I know I will cry. My friend is leaving. I must say goodbye. Our father has called him And he can not stay. But, I will remember Each time that I pray. VERSE # 2: For just a brief while, We will live on this soil Earning our bread With a dirt calloused hand. The struggles of life Are a mountain of toil. Though weakened by flesh, We still heed God's command. From the moment we're born And we draw our first breath, It's a part of our fate That we wrestle with death. It's an essential part Of the eternal plan. It's part of the covenant With God and all man. VERSE # 3: The Lord that we serve Once walked upon this sod. Tormented and tempted, He showed us the way. He overcomes death And He brings us to God, Where we will rejoice As a family someday. Though my friend is leaving, I smile through my tears. We're destined to meet In the oncoming years. What joy there will be In that Heavenly place When two long lost friends Greet in happy embrace!
  11. "COME, ONE AND ALL" Words and Music By: JOHN ROBERT "SAIGON" MALLERNEE VERSE # 1: Come, one and all, And join in the song. Heed ye the call And be guided along. Serve your God. Hold to the iron rod. The case for sin Is groundless. Praise the Lord For His holy word, His charity Is boundless. VERSE # 2: No need to mope With dispirited sigh. Rejoice in hope For glory on high. Lift your face And receive His grace. He'll make your Burdens lighter. Constantly pray As you follow the way. Work towards a world That's brighter. VERSE # 3: Have high desire. Kneel and confide. The spirit's fire Casts weakness aside. Strive to live With love to give. Hold forth A helping hand. Join in the fight In defending the right. With our Almighty God, We'll stand. CONCLUDE: Join in the fight In defending the right. With our Almighty God, We'll stand.
  12. Brethren and Sistren: My most memorable Thanksgiving Day was in 1971. I was a soldier with the 101st Airborne Division in the old Republic of Viet Nam, and went on a week long Rest and Recuperation leave (i.e., "R&R") to Sydney, Australia. On the chartered Pan American Airlines flight from Da Nang, I mentioned to the soldier sitting next to me that I was looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving Day. He reminded me that Thanksgiving Day is uniquely an AMERICAN holiday, not observed in Australia, nor in almost any other nation on this globe. In Sydney, I contacted representatives of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints, telling them that our Church leaders in Viet Nam had advised that, rather than going to a hotel. Thus, I became the house guest of the stake patriarch and his wife, immigrants from England, who lived across the bay in the suburb of Manly, and whose only son was away serving on a submarine in the Royal Australian Navy. They arranged for me, along with two American full time missionaries, to enjoy our Thanksgiving feast at the home of an American Latter-day Saint employed in Sydney, who had a very attractive daughter. Because of that experience, I now wear my military decorations when invited to someone's home for Thanksgiving dinner, as I deem it a patriotic occasion. Thank you.
  13. Brethren and Sistren: Oh, how FORTUNATE we are that a major Winter storm is arriving just in time for Thanksgiving Day! After all, without snow, how will the horse know the way to carry the sleigh over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house? Thank you.
  14. Brethren and Sistren: Why is turkey the traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner? Wouldn't venison be more historically accurate? Also, why don't white American families invite Lamanites to share their meal? After all, were it not for the assistance of the Lamanites, the Pilgrims would have starved to death, and there would be no United States of America today, nor would The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints have been established. Thank you.
  15. I plan to assuage my HUNGARY with TURKEY dripping with GREECE served on plastic plates, as there is no CHINA in the Mess Hall at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
  16. FINALLY ! ! ! Thank YOU, Anatess!
  17. @ ANATESS: I followed your instructions, but - - - ? What did I do wrong? Why isn't it working? Yes, the poem is a true story. While I was a soldier in Viet Nam, I went to Israel on leave, and toured with a Jewish group. Upon returning to Viet Nam, I wrote the poem. I'm not much of a poet. I mostly write songs, both lyrics and melody. Thank you.
  18. "MY TRIP TO ISRAEL" BY: JOHN ROBERT MALLERNEE Gather 'round, my comrades And I'll tell of the day I boarded a plane And flew far away. In Viet Nam, I'd spent Six months and a year Living like a dog And surrounded by fear. So, I bid "Farewell!", With leave orders in my hand, As Trans World Airlines Flew me to the Promised Land. The Land of Israel, The Land of the Book! I could hardly wait To have my first look! After many long hours Above the clouds we'd trod, Trans World Airlines Finally landed at Lod. In Tel Aviv, I roomed at the "Park" And ventured forth, Happy as a lark. Bethlehem, Masada, Jerusalem of Gold; I visted them each, And other places of old. I met a young lady On my guided bus tour. Entranced by her femeniness, I thought, "Vive L' Amour!" From Montreal, Canada, Is where she came. But, I was too shy To ask her name. All through the trip, I watched her and stared. She would never know How much for her I cared. We would never meet, As decreed by the Fates, For the girl went to Greece, As I flew to the States. I bought Yemenite jewelry for Mom, An antique sword for myself. Pictures of Israel Are in albums on the shelf. Though I'm back in Viet Nam With my head in a whirl, I remember Israel, And I remember that girl. The Mysterious Girl:

  20. Brethren and Sistren: I have a terrible secret I must confess. I AM A SERIAL KILLER ! ! ! Yes, whenever I see a steaming bowl of Cream of Wheat, I get this irresistible compulsion to immediately devour and destroy it. Not only that, but if you were to join with me in watching a series of suspenseful Hollywood movie sequels, I'd very probably open my big mouth and ruin the plot for you by prematurely revealing the surprise ending. I'm also a notorious heroine addict. You see, I just ADORE females! I'm also known to regularly use Coke, but only when I can't get a Pepsi-Cola. Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk! Hardee har har! Heh! Heh! Heh! Thank you.
