  1. Easy answer. Gods plan and knowledge is always changing according to our free will. he can always try and influence us to make the right decision but he will always put more options in our path even when we made the wrong choices
  2. Looking for advice. I recently received 72000 for the equity in my home. Should I pay tithing on this? 51,000 will need to be reinvested into the down payment of my new home
  3. Thank you for this, it is great advice. As for moving we just purchased our first home 2 months ago and it has been stressful, but it is right where she grew up.
  4. Thanks! that sounds like a good idea! I am 24 my wife is 22 but we have self medicated our issues since 14 and 16. We abused drugs and alcohol for 6 years almost. So I can understand why stress could cause her to revert. But, she does not want to feel that way.
  5. Hello...I definitely need some advice on this. To make an extremely long story short, my wife and I partied our way through high school from ages 16 up to 22 years old. We finally got our heads on straight, got married two years ago, and went through the temple about a year ago. When we first went through the temple she had a real problem wearing garments. She does always wear them however, I have seen her in tears multiple times about how uncomfortable they are. She was okay through the winter season, but now because summer is rolling around, I think she see's cloths she wants to wear but cant. It is something that is still very new to us, considering where we have been. Last night she was crying because she felt guilty for feeling the way that she does about garments. She says she feels guilty because she hates them, and that she is constantly reminded how much she hates them all day while she is adjusting them. She also told me she was feeling guilty because sometimes she wishes that me and her could just relax once in a while with a drink, or with some marijuana. She was raised LDS as was I, and naturally I told her those thoughts and feelings were not hers but that satan is working on her. She feels ashamed of herself, and her words are that she feels like she is wicked. I just don't know how to make her feel better. More so, I cannot figure out how to help her change her way of thinking so that she stops feeling the way that she does about garments. She loves the gospel and I know she has a testimony. So many miracles have happened in our lives to believe otherwise, but she feels so bad because of the way she still thinks. Please, any advice is welcome. Thanks. -James:confused:
  6. I know he uses dreams to communicate. .. I have had multiple dreams that I feel saved my life and we're a dorm of Devine intervention. If you want to pm me I'll tell you about them. This was when iwas transitioning out of my drug/alcohol life back to the gospel
  7. It is possible these women received this message or revelation to effect a certain group of people then... Not every person in the world will read these stories... not even a fraction... however you say that you can completely dismiss their stories because they are given revelation regarding the future of the world... it does not make sense to say that what they have said is not valid... because clearly they are incapable of getting this information in front of the world... they are only tapping a small piece... maybe a piece that god intended them to reach.
  8. and further more... if your not even giving someone a chance because they did not serve a mission its wrong IMO because the whole point of this thread was to address the fact that a good friend of mine who did not serve a mission because he had fallen away for a period of time. Is now fully active and righteous and looking for a potential spouse at ldssingles.com ... i can see if the person says ... i was active just didnt want to go on a mission.... but these women whho reject him dont even ask why... they just move on...and even if he said... yes i had fallen away from the church during that time frame now i am a fully active member... i assume some would still reject him
  9. I see your point... but what im saying is that we should not dismiss someone or even use the fact that they did not or did serve a mission as a defining factor of who that person really is inside
  10. Vort sometimes i see your posts as so one sided. Like saying "I do not know your friend, but given your explanation of his condition, consider: His leaders told him he should serve a mission. Whether or not he personally felt the Spirit prompting him to do so, he was most certainly given that information under the authority from God. He chose to ignore it. Such actions are the defining characteristic of the "cafeteria Mormon". Is that the sort of person you want YOUR daughter to date and marry -- someone who can conveniently dismiss counsel or commandment because he just doesn't feel the urge to comply?" The whole "is this a man you would want your daughter to marry/" is GARBAGE because i was inn a rough time of my life during that period.... Now i am a righteous active member of the church.... who am i do judge a man by his past... its rediculouse.. If a man has repented of his sins and changed his ways.... and is a good righteous man... and didnt serve a mission... Go ahead and date my daughter... because i know that person has changed...
  11. Vort... You are right... Only the profit can recieve revelation that is intended for the masses... I agree with that. However... I have heard peoples stories of revelation and from hearing them have also received revelation of my own. I have shared experiences and dreams and visions of my own with those around me. I think god gives revelation to people in some cases to share with others, because they would listen more coming from you then they would having a dream or vision themselves. My point is... God works through people to accomplish his plan. Maybe some people who read this become more worried about having enough food storage or being more prepared for disasters. Rather than just the profit telling them they should... maybe this creates a visual effect for people which motivates them much more. So I feel it is incorrect of you to say that ONLY the profit can recieve revelation that is capable of effecting the lives of others. Because he is not the only one
  12. something else that is interesting is that many of the NDE experiences i have read are very similar in what they see on the other side... and this corrilatess to many of those visions... i guess they could have just copied it... but i doubt someone would go through the trouble of publishing their book and saying its true and in gayles story she seems like a member she hints at it... so who knows
  13. I think it could happen... if people in certain parts of the country were starving to death... the church works with the UN... on humanitarian efforts... they know the members keep long term supplies... if there was a shortage i think they could call for it and the members would happily share it.
  14. My wife has recently told me a few things about what she was taught in young womens. They always taught her that she should set standards to marry return missionaries and least one lesson a month completely focused on that subject. I do not think this is wrong , but i believe its wrong when women wont give a good man a chance. even though this person may be an active righteous member of the church.].. this upsets me very much... I did not serve a mission however i have gone to the temple with my wife... but yes i had hard times in my teenage years.... I have a great friend who is an active member of the church... and always was my friend even when i was going the exact opposite way of the teachings of the church... His wife had an affair on him and appostasised the church they got a divorce over a year ago... This friend of mine however did not serve a mission either, and is trying to find lds women to date.... I feel very bad because on multiple occasions he has said he has clicked with women on ldssingles.com and have really hit it off... but multiple times they have asked if he was an RM and hes not and they just stop talking to him.... I understand why some women have set a standard for themselves to marry a young missionary... but in know way do i believe that it should be a defining factor... i mean some of these girls wont even give him a chance.... why is that??? its sad to me... because i know that there are those within the church who did not serve missions who may in fact be more righteous and have a closer relationship with god then those who have. So please any of you young women out there.. don't define a man on that one factor alone... its not right. Any thoughts? They need to also teach in young womens that there are good men out there who have not served missions also... and that people can change....i did UPDATE: I believe that god has missions for those who do not serve a mission at that time of their lives he has missions that are just as sacred that do not involve them leaving for two years to convert others.... Missions that we do not understand but that are just as important... UPDATE: Judge a man on his current actions... not his past
  15. One is definitely a member of the church and I think the other one is too. She is purposefully vague. WARNING: some parts of there visions of the end of the world are a little hard to swallow. I was very captivated by both though. My favorite Gayle's story Gayle's Story - One Woman's Visions of the End of Days in America Dead Man Musings: Sarah Hoffman: The Woman who Predicted 9/11
  16. Thanks for sharing the info. I have done substantial research on this subject myself. We are definetley headed for a global collapse. Private banks control the worlds money. With this new Libor scam coming out, people should be more concerned and throw these guys in jail, but they wont. Get your bug out bags ready
  17. Wow.. Thank you very much for sharing this. It sounds as though you truly do have a gift. Please feel free to share any other stories. I am sure we would all love to hear them! Thanks!
  18. Thank you for sharing. Your wife my have had a life long effect just from her words. Thats great!
  19. Well vort I feel many of my experiences that have been spiritual have been given to me so I can share them with others. If they do good for me why wouldn't they for others?
