  1. But there is some evidence to support that.
  2. What about those who have no religion, or are comfortable in their beliefs that are subjected to the high pressure religion salesmen that the LDS church recruits and sends out on missions to convert people to their religious leader's way of thinking? Are these people being equally subjected to "lying antis"? Or do "antis" only lie about your church?
  3. My post fell 4 pages back before it was approved, so here it is again.
  4. Forgive me for not being up to speed on doctrine, but where can this doctrine be found?
  5. I'm coming up with little of substance, but is it true that Jesus was from North Africa? I'm not really that in tune to geography.
  6. We know for a fact that Jesus was black because he called people Brother, He liked Gospel, and he couldnt get a fair trial from the authorities. Just kidding. I'm still looking.
  7. I'm pretty sure that the jews of the bible were black, unlike the European decended jews of today. I'll go do some research and let you know.
  8. Like the picture with the red robe....facing towards my left. This one? Not to rain on your parade, but Jesus was black. The guy in that picture, he isn't black.
  9. YES!!!!! Because it would be. Christ will come back when the world is ready for him, when a people have prepared a place for him. When He comes, Zion will come again, and He will reign there for 1000 years. Some of us really believe this and pray for it daily. I am one of them. What if he forgot that he is supposed to come back, and never does? Even if Jesus is never coming back, I'll still keep waiting for him.

    O'doul's

Actually, beer itself is a mild drink, if you compare it to whiskey or vodka or peppermint schnapps. Even Joseph Smith himself was known to throw down a brewski, even as late as June 1844. In fact, he had a fully stocked bar with Porter Rockwell as his bartender. True stuff. I think that the Word of Wisdom is a misinterpretation of D&C 89 and not at all what Joseph Smith intended. If Joseph Smith had intended for beer to not be drank, then why would the Church's newspaper be adverttising ale and beer from the Nauvoo Brewery in December 1843?If a prophet can drink beer, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to drink a non-alcoholic beer.
  11. STAND UP FOR WHAT’S RIGHT! LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! STOP THE PEOPLE WHO ARE MOCKING OUR SACRED BELIEFS! The following text is from an article in San Francisco’s weekly newspaper The Bay Area Press-Gazette: DEPUTY MAYOR AND CITY OFFICIALS CONDUCT DOZENS OF PROXY GAY MARRIAGES FOR MORMON LEADERS SAN FRANCISCO – After conducting thousands of gay marriages over a period of just a few weeks, some city officials here became fed up with what they considered an ignorant and intolerant religious backlash against the city and the gay community. They found a creative way to fight back, mixing some humor into their official capacities in the city government. Deputy Mayor Curtis Johnson and City Council member Phoebe Burton decided to make gay marriage available to all the religious people who oppose it, particularly the Mormons. They performed dozens of proxy gay marriages at City Hall last week on behalf of Mormon leaders, both living and dead, with local gay volunteers standing in as the happy couples. Church founder Joseph Smith was married to early leader Heber C. Kimball. Brigham Young was married to Porter Rockwell. Current Mormon President Gordon Hinckley was married to sports figure Danny Ainge, and Mormon Apostle Boyd Packer was married to Donny Osmond. U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch was married to serial killer Ted Bundy. There were dozens more, and the proxy couples kissed passionately each time they were pronounced "spouses for life." According to Deputy Mayor Johnson, the Mormons were singled out because of their active support of the anti-gay Proposition 22 or Knight Initiative in 2000, and because they practice marrying people by proxy as part of their own beliefs. “The Mormons were begging for this,†said Deputy Mayor Johnson in a statement to reporters. “No other group comes close when it comes to preaching hate and intolerance toward their gay brothers and sisters. And since they think it’s OK to perform rituals for people who aren’t there to speak for themselves, I can’t see how they can complain if we do the same thing.†Council member Burton added, “We used the names of a lot of church leaders and famous Mormons, but we decided not to include Steve Young, as he is popular in this city.†This despicable action makes a mockery of city government, of marriage, and of our sacred beliefs and ordinances. The enemies of righteousness have hit a new low. The family is truly under attack, but we don’t have to stand for it! Let’s stand up and be counted, and remind these people that this is ONE NATION UNDER GOD! Send a letter or an email or make a phone call to the mayor’s office in San Francisco, express your outrage at this attack on our people, and demand the resignations of Deputy Mayor Curtis Johnson and City Council member Phoebe Burton (who is gay, by the way). Mayor Gavin Newsom City Hall, Room 200 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place San Francisco, CA 94102 Telephone: (415) 554-6141 Fax: (415) 554-6160 Email: [email protected] We know that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God. Don’t let it be mocked, don't let us be mocked, and don't let God be mocked. Share this message with everyone you know who loves righteousness!
  12. Because skin color doesn't change based on religious beliefs. That the church is true, is an assumption. Not a fact. The LDS church changes it's teachings, as it sees fit. That's what religions do. THey slowly but surely change their beliefs to seem more consistant with common sense and apologetics that seem to fill the holes that reality puts in their beliefs. That's easy. Please cite a metalurgist that wasn't a follower of Joseph Smith that was allowed to examine the plates and verify their composition. There is no evidence that the plates ever existed, nor is there any evidence that Joseph Smith actually translated ANYTHING from them. None. Not a shred. No evidence. Because angels and gods don't exist, and neither does Moroni. If I am wrong, please show me evidence to the contrary. Because they aren't allowed to have more than one wife anymore. If mormons are to adhere to what D&C 89 ACTUALLY says, they would be able to drink beer and wine. But the WoW says that those things are prohibited. The lords one true and peculiar sect has to have SOMETHING going for it, doesn't it? Because sometimes people say that something will happen, and it doesn't and vice versa.
  13. The official position of the church reads as follows: Anyone who tells you otherwise is misinformed.
