Hey all! I'm Kortney BTW Pam this is a great idea. I joined ldstalk in april of 07 I think. I absolutely love it. I get on when I have access to a computer. I live in utah and am a stay at home mom. I absolutely love it! I never really realized how much work it is taking care of a child! I just have one so far. A beautiful 4 month baby girl. My husband works hard and we are waiting for the great job offer he has to start. *thoughtfully sends a prayer it will be soon* I grew up in Idaho and spent the first 3 years of my marriage in Oregon. Then it was time to make a change and Utah it is. HeHeHe... I love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, etc. I love animals and have a couple dogs. I also enjoy scrapbooking, tieing quilts, exercising, and dates. :) I hope to meet some friends here on ldstalk and to learn more from others. Anyway I will stop rambling on... I hope we keep this thing going :)

I have to admit it... I am completly addicted to these books. My friend loaned me the first one back in june and I couldn't put it down. I read it in the first day. The next day she loaned me the second one and I did the same. Then the day before I had my baby she bought me the third one as a gift. I couldn't put it down either. :) All the nurses in the hospital were going nuts because they saw it on my baby's bassinet. hehe.. I have now read them all two or three times and I can't wait for the 4th one to come out... :)

Thanks Pam... We are just kind of waiting on our " miracle" to come. We hope and pray that one day it will happen. There are alot of other details to my story that I didn't mention because I feel that they can be too personal and probably could go one sided from either of our sides. My husbands or mine. Anyway I do pretty good with everything and take my time. I am just a neat freak and want to better my self for health reasons. (granted I really am not that over weight) I just read somewhere or heard somewhere that if you have a waist that is bigger than 32" then you are 3 times more likely to have heart and other health problems. So I am just trying to lessen those chances.... :)

Hello everyone, I guess what I need here is just some support. My story is kind of long so will paraphrase. My husband and I were married very fast. To be blunt it was less than 3 weeks of first meeting. Thinking it over now we should have waited a bit longer. Anyway things were going alright for a bit. We had a lot of financial struggles and still do to this day. Talking to our bishop one sunday he had given us some wonderful advice. He said " Your finances will either pull you apart or bring you together." Needless to say ours pulled us a part. After relocating in the midst of a pregnancy; things started to happen. My husband finally confided in me that he wasn't happy. He wasn't attracted to me anymore and in general fell out of love with me. We sought a counsellor and went over all of our problems. We decided to stay together and work through our problems so our child will have something better than what he had. (he is from a split home) Anyway I still love him and am doing my best to help keep myself and him happy, but I struggle every now and then. I guess I just get really depressed knowing that my husband isn't in love with me anymore. I work really hard on losing my baby weight and keeping up with our house work. What I am seeking is just some moral support. so when I am having a really bad time ( like now) I can read and remember all of your words to make it through the day. Sometimes I need a little more than just prayer and scriptures. Thanks everyone Kortney

Heard The " Skinny " On Walmart?
sharrard_family replied to StrawberryFields's topic in General Discussion
HAHA!! not all the walmarts have clean floors and clean bathrooms. The stores around me are just horrible. I have actully stopped shopping there unless I absolutely have to. Mainly because of how dirty it is. But oh well I have been to some really clean ones. I guess it just depends on the managers of the stores.... -
If you were baptized into the LDS religion; you are still a member even if you are inactive. The only way you can not be a member of the LDS church is to call your local bishop's office and ask to be removed from the inactive list and tell him that you no longer want to be a member of the church. My best of luck to you Jarod. Everyone is right when they tell you that any church you join is going to welcome you into the fold and show you love. The Lord loves you and your family and He wants to see you come back. That is why we have the Attonement and Repentence. Good luck! Kortney

WAHOO!! I guess I am having a good day then!!

You are welcome Dr. T :) As long as I make someone smile today I will have a good day too

Dr. T- I am so sorry you have M.S. My daughter... Well she isn't mine anymore; I adopted her out when I was young. Anyway She has Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2. And I know kind of how you feel just by what I read in her letters. Sorry you don't always feel good and I will keep you in my prayers that you will get better as time goes by. -Kortney

A Question About The New And Everlasting Covenant
sharrard_family replied to wiley's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Wiley, Section 132 is kind of a confusing section so to speak. like in versus 28-29 it is talking about the promises of eternal increase and exaltation made to prophets and saints in all ages. But you have to remember in history polygamy was a common practice. I will use Abraham for example he had all of his wives to produce is seed across the nation. The Lord granted him that because obviously one wife couldn't handle that. Other people in that time took polygamy up because prophets were. In our time polygamy is not something the Lord welcomes. For example if the Lord wanted us to practice polygamy for exhaltation then wouldn't the whole world as is be "screwed" ?? Our current prophets have had revelations that polygamy is bad and that we need to stop doing that. So we as later saints don't its One man and One wife and that is it. If you and your wife are still concerned I would recommend going to LDS.org and looking up in ensign articles on what the prophets have to say and honestly and earnestly praying about it. Just remember in section 132 they are talking about several different topics and you can't get confused. Hope I helped some.. BTW most of this is quoting my friend and her husband along with my own and any other respected family member I could get involved on the subject. -Kortney -
A Question About The New And Everlasting Covenant
sharrard_family replied to wiley's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
You know Wiley as far as I was told.. All through child hood and after is that its you and your spouse who can have exaltation.. Pending the fact that you both are striving for that. But don't quote me on that until I study up on it a bit more. -Kortney -
hahaha MsS.. I loved the chapstick one... It reminded me of my niece. She absolutely loves to take my mother-in-law's chapstick.... What she does with it I don't know. Lets just hope it only goes on her lips... LOL Kortney

Wiley I have to agree with you. I however can't offer much help; only that we should NOT discuss ordinances that occur in the temple outside of the temple. Those disccussion are to be in the temple. I will however say that when my husband and I first went through it was so peaceful. Aphrodite if you aren't positve you can alwasy ask your local Bishop to let you sit through a temple prep class if you are ready and that will help clear up some of your jitters. :)

Wiley, I have been to Utah.. I grew up 3 hours from SLC in Idaho and visited often as a child. My husband and I lived there for a month after we were married too, but we weren't ready for that "Big shock". I think we are now though. We will be living in Provo so I think there are a few young married adult wards. At least I know the ward my husband has been attending while we are apart in Lehi has mostly people in our age group. I think he said there was one couple in their 40's, the rest were all Young like us, only with many more childeren. Anyway Thanks for your Advice. We love Logan and considered moving there. Mainly because it looks just like where we are now, only we don't get below zero all the time in the winter. We were actually sealed in the Logan Temple and we just fell in love with that area. Anyway I seem to be rambling on. So welcome to the site! -Kortney

Well I am no long time poster... I joined this month. I came looking for some spiritual insight and also the strength to help me get through some of my own struggles. I am married to a wonderful husband. We made the decision to move from his home town in Oregon to go to Utah. I don't really know why, but we are. Hopefully for some schooling for him. Normally this wouldn't be to bad of a situation, but we have a home here in Oregon. In a town where 85% of the homes are sold to retiree's. That makes it a challenge, but we have had hope on that and have found a buyer for a home.. Anyway back to my story. We are going to have a baby in August, a little girl. We are excited over this, but it is going to be a huge struggle. You see my husband has no idea what he wants to do for a career. I do know that i want to be a stay at home mom. That is a problem. We have no job security and never really have. I was kind of the stabling force of our marriage and held the stable job while my husband has had 3 jobs in the 3 years we have been married. A lot of people say that we are living on faith. Well to put it bluntly we are. There are times in your life that you have your own personal trials and this is one of ours. We have put our lives into the hands of the Lord's and told him to take control. So anyway I think I got a bit distracted with part of my life story.... Anyway I came to this site mostly for a little bit of talking so to speak and more spiritual thinking while my husband is down in Utah making us a home. Which to end on a happy note I will be joining him at the end of the month. -Kortney-

I was BIC. My great great grandfather was baptized by missionaries. I fell out of the church for a short time. got pregnant as a teenager. Found this wonderful man (my night in shinning armor), married him. Had my baby. My husband and I decided to adopt her out through LDS adoption services. WE stayed inactive for another year and met these wonderful friends who inspired us to go to church again and become active through their example. To make a long story short... We were sealed in the temple on june 3 2006, and have been going strong ever since.

My high for the day: Washing the outside of the car and vaccuming the car out My Low: Packing... I absolutely hate it. Can't we just throw it all away and start over???

I started reading this post on sunday some time, and i had to stop and think about all of the things that were said. When I got back on today and re-read it all; it was absolutely amazing as to how many people have truly been inspired by the spirit to lend their advice and knowledge. I never knew a whole lot about the blacks and the PH mainly because I am young and this all happend before I was born. I understand so much more and I wish I could offer more advice on this subject, but I belive that all of you have truly hit the nail on the head. This wasn't about one sin from one person... This was the Lord's choice and no one should ever second guess what the Lord has to say. The Lord knows what is best for everyone. He knows what each individual is thinking and He knows what to do and when to do it. That especially goes for the blacks and the PH. He waited until 1978 ( I think that was the year) because that was the right time. Remember when Joseph went to get the scriptures and was told not to touch them and he did... So JS was asked to wait and we had to wait until some time after when He was ready to take on such a huge responsibility. Well most of us know the story so I wont go into, but that is just what I was feeling on the subject.. so take it or leave it. Its all right with me.

Thank you everyone who responded. I will pass this knowledge on to my Aunt. It makes me feel more comforted knowing that her husband is in a better place. I knew that all along, but I have been so concerned about her well being and I know as each day goes on, She also moves on. I appreciate all that was shared and if she is ever having a rough time all of your thoughts and information will go through my mind again. Thank You, Kortney
