  1. hmm the Wrath of God, when I read that in the scriptures I think of the anger of a father with a child. It isn't blind anger it isn't malicious, it isn't even cruel. It's a frustrated kind of anger that that father wants his child so badly to succeed but his child is wasting the opputunitys he has been given. That is what I think of when I hear about the wrath of God. Hay and I guess perhaps bear in mind too, our Father in Heaven has a couple of hundred million children who are disobeying him and thats quite a lot of wrath going on there^_^
  2. From what I know Gwen, when a new member is baptized they are very new to the church and they spend one year in Gospel Principles classes usually as oposed to Relief Society and Priesthood. This is simply so they don't get over whelmed with every thing all at once. As far as I know you have to be a member of the church for over a year before you can get a temple recomend. (You can still go to the temple grounds but not inside the actual temple). The same with returning members. I have had to wait a year after coming back to church before I can consider getting a recomend again and the same applys to new members! It's the same over here in England and it makes sense that it would be the same every where else in the world as the church needs to get to know the new member and see their dedication before they can give them such sacred work to carry out.
  3. Well I am looking forward to Christmas so much! I am sure plenty of you are too! At least I hope so! I was thinking about the Pre-Existence or Pre-Earth life, when I suddenly realised. Hay! We wouldn't have had a Christmas back then! (well technically we wouldnt have as Christ hadn't been born). Then I thought about Easter, that wouldn't have been there neither! We must have celebrated some things way back then! So I thought I would post on here and see if anyone had any ideas. This is just for fun really though, as we will never fully know for sure (yet) what it was we used to celebrate if we did actually celebrate anything at all but hay I bet we did! I'm thinking I'd have celebrated the creation of the mighty little Chihuahua (I love Chihuahua dogs)! Then I'd have had a really big party for the first CoCoa Pod Tree!! Maybe we celebrated when the flood finally dried up and the very first rainbow appeared! Merry Christmas Everyone!! All your ideas are warmly welcome! Lots of Love from Kitty x
  4. We are children of our heavenly father. As children we have very important lessons to learn. It is not just a test. If it was just a test then there would be very little point to it as our father in heaven knows is each induvidually. It is also an oppurtunity to learn when some thing bad happens. Through trials we can become better people with more experience and knowladge. This pleases our heavenly father greatly I am sure. (like how we feel pleased when a child learns to do somthing for the better good)! It is sad to hear about your grandfather Pam. I myself suffer with mental health problems. Some times I have really bad days and some days I don't really know why but I ignore people (not delibratly). This is a huge trial for me. However it has also taught me to be greateful for the life I have and it has also showed me the value of the scriptures and prayer. (without these things my mental health issues seem to worsen). I also think in general when people are weak they tend to need their heavenly father more and those are the times when our heavenly father can help us the most. In short trials are a burden but they are also a learning curve and yes they are a test as well. I would say they arn't nice and they arn't "good" in the sense that they don't make you feel great. Living in the shadow of mental health problems doesn't make me feel terribly wonderful. However they teach us things we wouldn't have known before and in that sense they are not "bad". A thought about our saviors atonement too, think about that huge burden he had to carry, all the sins of the world. He was a perfect man and such corruption would have been unimaginably painful for him. That is like one trial of ours times a million. So really are our trials so bad? :)
  5. :) That is a very good point Elphaba. It has always existed somewhere. However my point for saying it is spreading like a plague is this. Now adays you can make contact with some one from the other side of the world in less than a minute. Because of this pedophile rings spring up quicker than ever before for example. I do agree that yes there may seem more of it today because of the media. However! Through the media things are a lot more accesible today. The pornography industry for example is HUGE these days. All through the media. So these days there is much more pornography and there is getting more of it because of the media and the potential revenue it has. Child abuse and pornographic images of children will also be making some seedy big revenue somewhere. Child/people trafficking as well. Prostitution. Through media there is becoming more of these things because media provides these sins with networks they can grow and thrive through.
  6. I feel sexual sin is one of the worst sins there is. but it is also a very hard sin to understand especially these days. Some people will say to me, well what about my parents, they arn't in the church and they had sex when they were young so your telling me they are bad people? I guess what we individually have to be aware of is our own knowladge. A bit like when we were little kids if no one told us to not put our hand in the cookie jar then we wouldn't have known any better However we, as later day saints, DO know better and the world would be a lot happier place if it also did. Think about a world that follows just that one standard no sex before marriage! What a happier place it would be! No teenage pregnancies. Lack of STDs (or even non)! Family units would be a lot more secure. I personally feel sexual sin is like a plague and is spreading. Pornography, adultery and worser still devastating acts such as child abuse. The world sure needs its savior and I have great faith that this world won't have to wait much longer.
  7. Hello! I am really pleased I found this site! As I really wanted to find a place I could "virtually" be around people that believe in the same thing as me. A lot of forums and chat rooms arn't exactly the most "safe" places and I really think this place is and it seems fun too! So I joined up! Looking forward to meeting new friends and sharing thoughts and experiences about the gospel and life in general!
