  1. Over the past several months I have seen numerous videos regarding people's near death experiences. One thing that stands out in my mind is that anyone fabricate a fantastic near-death experience. They only have to view other people's experiences to fake their own NDE. Common denominators in these experiences are that there's no time, they see loved ones, they speak telepathically, etc. that's the problem with NDE's I use my knowledge of the Gospel to determine who's lying and who's telling the truth. I changed the channel when they talk about Reincarnation, Spaceships, Christ taking them for trips around the universe, being shown their reward before they're even judged, things like that. My point is that I would advise that people use caution and always consider gospel principles and doctrine as you view these NDE's
  2. Missionaries have to give people a certain amount of credit for having their own mind. They have to realize that people can make decisions based upon the information they receive and compare it with the information they already have. I have been on visits with many many missionaries over the years and I found that most of them do this. If we were to get serious, and without for knowledge, how many of us would believe that a 14 year old boy was visited by Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ without a certain pause? For almost every Christian this would be completely against everything they've been taught.

  4. Years ago I worked at the prison in Chino California. I became good friends with the Catholic priest. He, by the way, was the only Chaplin there that would make friends with a Latter-Day Saint. As we talked about our different beliefs I couldn't help but notice the many books on his bookshelf. Books about philosophy, theology etc. Many were extremely difficult to understand. I then knew why many Catholics have a hard time comprehending their religious beliefs. Compared to there's ours is very simple to understand.

  6. Many are taught the Lord's prayer and a very young age and that's all they know. They've never considered the fact that they might get an answer to a question because that's not what they're taught. That's why missionaries ask investigators to pray about what they've been taught and the book of Mormon. Many are amazed at the fact of the actually get an answer.
  7. Somewhat similar to Catholics, most Jews I have met have a very little understanding of what their beliefs are. Overall I would say they were probably more open-minded than many Born again Christians
  8. In my younger years even though I have been baptized in the church on age nine I was not very active and began to investigate other religious beliefs. When I finally became fully active in the church I would also go with the missionaries on various meetings with non-members. It didn't take long to realize that many missionaries had very little knowledge about other people's religious beliefs. Fundamentally there are two basic differences between our faith and most Christian faiths. The toughest one to get around is the once saved always saved belief. It's very difficult to explain to someone that actually they are not really saved the way they believe they are. The other difference is the trinity. This could be another obstacle that's sometimes difficult to get around.
  9. I've heard much about what is required to enter the highest level of the celestial Kingdom which is a temple ceiling however I have not heard any of the leaders discuss what happens if one person stays faithful to the covenants and the other one does not and it ends in a divorce. What happens to the covenant and sealing to the one who remains faithful?
