  1. I hate when that happens. You meet someone you like a lot but know that it's best not to fall in love or pursue them.
  2. Gein had a terribly sad childhood. From Wikipedia: (i found the following to be shocking & learned that even the holy bible can misused in the wrong hands.) "Augusta Gein(Ed Gein's mother), a fervent Lutheran, drummed into her boys the innate immorality of the world, the evil of drink and the belief that all women (herself excluded) were prostitutes and instruments of the devil. She reserved time every afternoon to read to them from the Bible, usually selecting graphic verses from the Old Testament dealing with death, murder and divine retribution" Ed Gein - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Ed Gein's mother clearly had some issues. Even the bible can be misused in the wrong hands.
  3. They were insane, they didn't know from right and wrong. They were sociopaths! Have you ever read anything on Antisocial personality disorder or how a serial killer's mind ticks? They're insane, literally. Killing a human being to them is the equivalent of killing a fly. They don't have any guilty conscience. They probably enjoy killing people-that's how sick they were.
  4. Ted Bundy was mentally ill since birth. I don't know much about Gary Bishop, only the fact that he was a serial killer. Both of these men were really sick and that has nothing to do with making bad choices. I wonder what's your opinion of Ed Gein then. Are you suggesting that pornography turns people into serial killers? I hope not. Pornography does harm some people but not in those ways that you described. People should be allowed to watch what they want or believe in what they want. Do you have any idea what people think of Mormons? A lot of people today are still very prejudice against Mormons and have these crazy ideas about the LDS chruch (The Mormon Jesus is not the same as the Jesus from the Bible, Mormons have multiple wives,...) are they right? No!:)
  5. Movies are just a form of entertainment, just like music. Everyone is welcome to watch whatever they please. Now, I ask, what kind of movies are appropriate for Latter-day Saints?
  6. I've been wondering this for quite a long time now. How do you know when you're feeling the spirit of God? I'm a member of the church. I am inative right now, the only reason i became a member was because my whole family was going to. (I became a member at 13) Now, I want to know the truth, but I'm afraid. Can someone describe how it feels to have the spirit with them? How can I know when it is the spirit?
  7. Before i became inactive, I strive towards perfection-that's one of the main reasons I stopped going to church. I think often we, well at least i misinterpreted somes teachings. Now, whenever i need an answer I search directly towards the scriptures, church articles, and talks and never put a lot of attention to what other members say, not to be rude or anything but their explanations may be distorted. To be honest, i don't even know if god exists, but I want to believe that he does. I'm very impressed with anything related to the Mormom church.(the teachings)
  8. I'm not an active member of the church....yet. Anyhow, I learned that Latter-day Saints are different people and by that I mean, I have a lot of non LDS friends. I'm not trying to generalize here but most Latter-day Saints from the south, are HAPPY people. Watching Latter-day Saints is like watching a Brady Bunch episode-they're always HAPPY. I'm simply surprise by it. Of course, not all Latter-day Saints behave this way but the ones who would be describe as very religious are...most of the time. I just thougth I'd share that since I have other Christian friends and they seem pretty unhappy and unsatisfied with their lives.
  9. Good for you! I applaud you for it. In this modern world of "one night stands" and "friends with benefits" boundaries have been crossed. You don't know what's right from wrong.
  10. I've come to the conclusion that to love is in fact a choice and love grows with time and Romantic love is anything but unconditional. A crush might be a strong feeling but it's an illusion nonetheless. Oh well....c'est la vie! It is what it is.
  11. I don't I'll think ever fall in love with someone in a short period of time, less than a year. Besides being a sin, how does having sex before marriage affect the love you have for someone? Anybody know???
  12. A romantic illusion, I know what you mean. It's different for everybody indeed.
  13. I've come to that conclusion too. Oh well....
  14. I perfectly understand what you mean.
  15. I'm surprised at everyone's replys. Non LDS people tell me it takes time. months-years (6 months at least, romantic love is indeed the strangest thing around) to fall in love and here I'm reading something different. I wonder why? I still wish to know.
  16. I also agree with that sentence. I also believe that real love is unconditional.
  17. That ought to be the most intelligent quote I ever heard from a general authority regarding romantic relationships. I almost got into a debate with a female friend over this. She believed in soul mates, I didn't. I assume she was naive since she was a senior in high school.
  18. Wow! That is extremely fast! I assume both of you were active members of the church.
  19. Please, I must know. Ever since I was introduce to romance I've been pondering this question. I don't believe in soul mates or love at first sight, that's just a bunch of non-sense. & don't say it takes a second or 5 minutes to fall in love, that's just unbelievable. The reason I ask is because I think I've been in love once but I fell for the wrong gal. & I don't think as much as I want to that it was an illusion. Anyhow, do the scriptures mention anything regarding this?
  20. I'm not trying to be jerk here. It's just that having folks knock at your door at least twice a week gets annoying. I just moved to a new apartment and i have these missionaries (not LDS) knocking at my door and it really annoys me. & i wonder, this is how LDS missionaries might upset some folks. I applaud them for sharing their religious beliefs but in all seriousness, it gets annoying if they knock at your door too often. Oh well.
  21. This thread is funny! But I think it's just a stereotype, not all men, perhaps most men have does two things on their mind all the time.
  22. I've never dated a Mormon chick, never, I did like one very much last year. She was a sweetheart but I was still obsessed, though I thought that I was in love with my ex. Never knew if that LDS chick liked me. Just go out and meet people, it is hard but it's worth it. Most girls are looking for a relationship just can't find the right guy. I'm different because I don't drink like the others. They also tell me that I'm sensitive which I don't like to be told that.....for personal reasons but, just go out to a nightclub and meet someone. That's yet, another reason I don't like going to my "family" ward.
  23. I'm 24. If SA stands for Singles Actives or Singles Wards I plan on going to a singles ward.
  24. No, what sites should I try?
