  1. Joseph Smith mentioned that we would eventually perform the ordinance of transfiguration (or "translation") in the latter days. What processes might be associated with that ordinance? Joseph also mentions in the Doctrine and Covenants that the heavens will include animals that are exalted in knowledge and power. What processes might be associated with making that happen? "Now the doctrine of translation is a power which belongs to this Priesthood. There are many things which belong to the powers of the Priesthood and the keys thereof, that have been kept hid from before the foundation of the world; they are hid from the wise and prudent to be revealed in the last times." (Joseph Smith) In light of these ideas, and for various other reasons, I consider Mormonism to be a religious Transhumanism.
  2. Note that the person to whom the curious workmanship (technology) was given already had access to the Holy Ghost, which evidently could be enhanced.
  3. Church leaders, and particularly Joseph Smith, have taught that knowledge and reason, as well as science, are complements to inspiration and faith. If we don't use these tools, provided by God, we're foolish. Our children do need to be trained, both spiritually and rationally, for the challenges of life. We do them a disservice otherwise.
  4. Hi DigitalShadow. The Church has no official position on evolution, and most Mormons I know either believe in evolution or don't care one way or the other. Check out the Mormon Transhumanist Association for a group of Mormons that are pro-evolution.
